MEET THE PARTICIPANTS APARNA NANCHERLA JENA FRIEDMAN Aparna Nancherla is a comedian of the stand-up variety, but Jena Friedman is an American stand-up comedian, writer, can often be seen sitting. She recently worked as a writer and performer for Late Night with Seth Meyers on NBC. Her television credits include Netflix’s new season of Master of None and Love, HBO’s Crashing, Comedy Central’s upcoming series Corporate, and Inside Amy Schumer. Other credits include writer and performer on Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell and appearances on Conan, The Meltdown with Jonah and Kumail, @midnight, Adam DeVine’s House Party, Last Comic Standing, and Night Train with Wyatt Cenac. She has also done videos for Above Average, Refinery29, Funny or Die, Slate V, and MTV (other). Nancherla has accumulated a list of “top comedian” lists and awards including: Variety’s “Top Ten Comics to Watch 2016,” Shorty Nomination for “Best Comedian on Social Media 2016,” Vulture’s “50 Comedians You Should Know in 2015,” Marie Claire’s “Funniest Women of 2015,” Time Magazine’s “140 Top Tweeters of 2014”, Jezebel’s “Comedy Queens of 2014,” Time Out New York’s “10 Funniest Women in New York,” Flavorpill’s “11 Essential Young Comedians in New York City,” LA Weekly’s “12 Comedy Acts to Watch,” and Serial Optimist’s “10 Comics You Must Know.”

JORDAN CARLOS Jordan Carlos, a Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore alumnus, has

He appeared in three films last year: The Meyerwitz Stories by Noah Baumbach, Landline by Gillian Robespierre, and Three Generations by Gaby Dellal, starring Naomi Watts, Elle Fanning, and Susan Sarandon. Look for him this fall when he makes his debut on the Netflix hit anthology, Black Mirror.

JES TOM Jes Tom (they/them) is a weird queer stand-up comic. Born

and raised in San Francisco and now based in New York, Tom’s comedy gleefully provides the non-binary queer Asian American radical cyborg perspective that everyone never knew they wanted. They have appeared in videos for NowThis News, Buzzfeed News, NBC News, and Funny Or Die. In collaboration with fellow comedian Chewy May, Tom created the viral video Ghost In The Shell PSA. They have been featured in GO Magazine, Splitsider, and The Fader, and was named one of Time Out New York’s “Comedians We’re Obsessed With.”

WARRINGTON HUDLIN Warrington Hudlin is a veteran producer of motion pictures,

television, and online media. His work challenges the dichotomy between social concerns and popular entertainment.

Best known as the producer of the landmark African American films, House Party, Boomerang, and Bebe Kids, and television specials, Cosmic Slop and Unstoppable, Hudlin is now developing a genre busting, episodic drama, The Siege of Detroit. Hudlin is the Vice-Chairman of the Museum of the Moving Image and is the founding President of the Black Filmmaker Foundation (BFF) where he has been a pioneering organizer of the black film movement for over three decades.
