OVERVIEW PURPOSE Parker maintains a commitment to standards of dress that are appropriate for the school day. The purpose of the School’s dress code is to: • Improve student safety - Parker students are easily identifiable. • Promote the equitable treatment of all students regardless of gender, race, religion, or socio-economic status. • Create a distraction-free academic environment. • Create a sense of community and equality among the student body. • Ensure students’ comfort during the many activities they may participate in throughout the school day. DRESS CODE GUIDELINES Dress code guidelines by division are listed in this document. The guidelines are in effect while the students are on campus during the academic day and extended programs. In general, clothing must always be: • Free of rips, tears, frayed edges, and fading. • Free of logos, words, and designs. • Free of unacceptable modifications. • Long enough to fully cover the torso from shoulders to the waist (tops). • Long enough to reach the bottom of a student’s fingertips when the arm is fully extended (bottoms). • Covering all undergarments. What’s Not Allowed? Tank tops, jeans, athletic shorts, athletic pants, cargo pants, loungewear pants or shorts, sweatpants, sleepwear, swimwear, leggings, slippers, and house shoes. Athletic Uniforms are not allowed during the Academic Day. The School reserves the right to determine the appropriateness of a student’s attire even if such is not specifically delineated in the dress code guidelines. Accommodations for religious and cultural observances are always allowed.

RESPONSIBILITY Lower School Students who are out of dress code will be sent to the office to meet dress code guidelines and a parent/guardian will be notified. Further dress code incidents will be addressed and communicated. Any borrowed clothing from the office must be returned clean within one week. Middle School Students who are out of dress code will be sent to the office to meet dress code guidelines and a parent/guardian will be notified. Further dress code incidents are recorded as an infraction in the Parker portal. Any borrowed clothing from the office must be returned clean within one week. Upper School Students who are out of dress code cannot attend class, their attendance will be marked unexcused, and the incident will be recorded as an infraction in the Parker portal. A parent/guardian will be notified. Students can return to class when they are in dress code. PARTNERSHIP Students in Grades JK-12 are checked for dress code compliance daily—this check starts at home. We appreciate the partnership with each parent/guardian to ensure that students arrive at the School in dress code. QUESTIONS Lower School: Contact the Assistant Head of School.
