Mother Shipton’s Cave is a wellloved tourist attraction in the area with an interesting story attached. Mother Shipton was a local witch who prophesied future events through her poems. Visit the Petrifying Well or take a trip to the boat house or historic museum to discover the whole story for yourself in mystical surroundings.
With plenty to do and see in North Yorkshire from rambling through the countryside to visiting sites of historical importance you will never be short of things to do. The Yorkshire Dales has many moods; it can be wild and windswept or quietly tranquil. It includes some of the finest limestone scenery in the UK, from crags and pavements to an underground labyrinth of caves. Spectacular waterfalls and ancient broadleaved woodland contrast with the scattered remains of former mine workings and other rural industries which remind us of the area's rich industrial heritage. Discover the history behind the Yorkshire Black Sheep Brewery and its founder. During the daily tours you will experience how they select the ingredients that produce the distinctive tastes and aroma of their awardwinning beers, as well as learning about the science behind the brewing process and why they still use Yorkshire Square Fermenting Vessels which were developed over 200 years ago. BOLTON ABBEY
Bolton Abbey is in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales on the banks of the River Wharfe. With just under 30,000 acres of beautiful countryside, over 80 miles of footpaths and ample space to run around and enjoy the fresh air, there is something for all ages. Explore the ruins of the Priory and discover a landscape full of history and legend or wander along the riverside, woodland and moorland paths.

The Bolton Arms, run by Bill and Janet, is a homely, friendly Yorkshire pub, open seven days a week and set in the beautiful Wensleydale countryside. You can also enjoy a main meal in either the relaxed lounge bar area or the more formal dining room.

The Garden Rooms Restaurant is passionate about locally sourced produce and celebrates the seasons by creating inspiring menus throughout the year. They are renowned for offering excellent quality and value, serving traditional Sunday lunches and a seasonal daily specials menu as well as themed events for different cuisines such as Tapas, The Game Season and Festive Food. The Garden Rooms delivers a truly memorable experience for all those that visit; whether for lunch in the restaurant or just to relax and browse the free to enter galleries and exhibitions.

A Wensleydale landmark since the 1600s the once bucolic Heifer is now a country-chic Boutique Hotel with food aspirations. Despite the Bovine name, seafood is the kitchen's main business and visitors can choose to eat informally in the bare tabled fish bar or splash out amid the 'contemporary decadence' of the main restaurant.

We spend every weekend at Yorkshire Dales, including Christmas and New Year. It's an important wedding anniversary for us this year (Ruby 40 years!), and we will celebrate with our holiday home friends. We love when we are able to talk to people looking to buy a home, and tell them it's the best move you can make. We get called Mr & Mrs Yorkshire Dales and told we are living the dream! Mr & Mrs Harrop - Yorkshire Dales owners. This is our first time being part of an exclusive owner’s only community and we’re so pleased that we decided to join the Park Leisure family here at Yorkshire Dales. Our holiday home is situated on Yorkshire Dales’ new pitch development – Darnbrook Fell and offers us a place to enjoy relaxation. We love watching the ducks and rabbits that mingle around our holiday home and amongst the water features, and every now and again we catch a glimpse of the resident peacock. We look forward to many happy years here at Yorkshire Dales. Mr & Mrs Grant - Yorkshire Dales owners. Both Peter and I have been enjoying the park for the past 10 years now, so were a little wary when Park Leisure took over, however within 2 days of taking ownership of the park we saw just how friendly and professional the Park Leisure team were and after meeting the two Company Directors Gary and Miles we were instantly convinced that the park was going to be improved for the better. We have since upgraded to a new Carnaby Ridgeway and intend to spend as much time enjoying it as possible as we only live an hour away from the park. We have always loved the Yorkshire Dales and find the park is a perfect base to enjoy the local wildlife, plus having Leyburn just a short stroll away is perfect for us.
