Aspire ~ Achieve ~ Succeed
Teachers use their very good subject knowledge and information about students to plan well for their individual needs.
Our ethos is described in three words “Aspire, Achieve and Succeed”. Throughout their time at Park View, your child will develop as a ‘Park View Learner’. This is someone who is an independent enquirer, creative thinker, reflective learner, team worker, self-manager and effective participator. We provide a broad and balanced curriculum where academic excellence is strengthened by an equally important love of the arts, music, dance, drama and sport.
Whether your child is a high attaining pupil, passionate about sport or the arts, speaks English as an additional language or has special educational needs, we will ensure that they thrive in a safe and caring learning environment. Park View actively promotes the value of being outstanding citizens and strong British values underpin everything we do.

LEARNING
04
Our broad and balanced curriculum – including a wide range of GCSE and vocational courses – is designed to encourage a love of learning in every child. Teachers challenge all our students, setting personalised targets, monitoring progress and providing additional support when required. We actively promote independent learning skills so students are ready for their future.
New technologies are used innovatively across the curriculum. We also use our managed learning environment (MLE) to promote online learning. With a strong focus on literacy, our average class size in English is 22. Our specialist teaching staff ensure that students with English as an additional language or with special educational needs participate fully in the life of Park View and make outstanding progress.
We use Drama, Music, Dance and sport to build students’ confidence in a way that benefits all areas of learning. Students participate in creative workshops and productions around school and in the community, and we are proud to have achieved the prestigious Artsmark Gold award.
All students are encouraged to become “Park View Learners”.
ENRICHMENT Our enrichment programme comprises a wide range of lunchtime and extracurricular activities. These include Saturday schools, sporting, arts and creative clubs, plus pre-school and post-school coursework sessions including a homework club and breakfast club where students can read and enjoy a free breakfast.
Park View students know that their opinions count. With an elected school council and year councils, many students are given the opportunity to participate in the development of Park View. Open to all years, our student leadership programme gives students responsibilities as translators, supervisors and participants in staff recruitment.
Students have the opportunity to enjoy inter-school competitions, educational outings, foreign visits and sporting tours. Our students relish special theme days such as the school’s international festival, ‘Parkstock’.
Our strong house system encourages closer collaboration between students across the school and develops a sense of belonging. Every child and teacher is allocated to one of our four houses: Elm, Oak, Cedar and Maple.

SUPPORT We provide a safe learning environment with a firm anti-bullying culture and our staff work hard to make students feel happy, secure and empowered. In return, we demand very high standards in terms of classwork, homework, behaviour, punctuality, attendance and uniform. Park View inculcates an ethos of respect, which results in a strong sense of community. The school understands that students’ happiness is the key to achievement in all areas of learning.
Our students benefit from personal, social, health and economic (PSHE) education that is taught in both curriculum and tutor time. By exploring topics such as relationships and personal finance, our young people develop the confidence to make positive life choices. We nurture all students with personalised support – from induction for our new year 7s right through to careers and further education guidance for year 11s. Our non-teaching Year Team Deputies are focused on pastoral support and some students have been trained as peer mentors. Students and their families have access to exceptional support services at school.

COMMUNITY We work in partnership with families to ensure that our students make the best possible progress. Parents and carers are kept informed through our regular newsletters, website, school app, Parents’ Association, text messages and online learning environment. All our staff can be contacted via the website, email, telephone, or in person at the school to deal with any concerns. By offering a range of extended services to students, their families and the local community, we contribute to the vitality of the neighbourhood and promote lifelong learning.
We have very strong partnerships with local primary and secondary schools and foster links with a diverse range of businesses to secure visits and work experience placements. Our students are encouraged to celebrate their cultural diversity and develop their global awareness. Staff and students participate in a number of projects with schools worldwide and we are proud to have achieved the full International Schools Award.
