Tuesday 30 August 2.00 - 4.00pm Sunshine, food and lunch outdoors? Get ready for the Rose Lane shop big picnic and come along and learn to make some cushions and a shared blanket for the day! Wednesday 31 August 3.30 - 5.00pm Everyone loves a cupcake! Get together with your neighbours as the picnic draws closer and batch cook some yummy cupcakes for the day! Thursday 1 September 11.00am - 12.00pm The Big Picnic is only days away! And what better way to prepare than to harvest some freshly grown herbs and vegetables to enjoy on the day.

The Rose Lane Shop High Street Garden is a beautiful space with lots of light and a large Maker Space. The garden space has a tall blooming willow dome den and a luscious green living wall full of foliage, plants and herbs. There are plenty of opportunities to get involved in maintaining the garden, living wall and getting stuck in with activities in the Maker Space. Come and join the fun and continue to create a space to be proud of.

The Allotments Project is a community plot in an existing allotment that is maintained by a group of residents. The project allows residents to share responsibility and work around their personal obligations whilst still having a thriving garden where produce is distributed fairly. The plot at Marks Gate is being shared with the Marks Gate Relief Project, and it is a space for all those wanting to grow vegetables, herbs and flowers but either don’t know where to start or don’t have their own space!

BUILD A POLYTUNNEL

Thursday 4 August 11.00am - 12.00pm A polytunnel is a good way to protect seedlings from birds, insects and harsh weather. Join in and help make a colourful polytunnel out of hula hoops and reclaimed materials.

CRAZY COMPOSTING

Thursday 11 August 11.00am - 12.00pm Come and construct a small compost heap at the allotment and learn/share tips on how to make it and what to do with it as well as why it’s important for gardens.

SEEDLINGS TO SOIL PT. II

Thursday 18 August 11.00am - 12.00pm The second round of seedlings are ready for transplanting! This session will involve bringing the indoor seedlings to the allotment, choosing the right spot for them, and planting them in their new home.

SPRUCING & PRUNING

Thursday 25 August 11.00am - 12.00pm General maintenance and upkeep are vital for a healthy garden. Weeding, pruning, deadheading and other tasks need to be done regularly. This can be a very mindful and rewarding exercise.

HARVEST CELEBRATION

Thursday 8 September 11.00am - 12.00pm As the programme comes to a close, let’s all join in on a big harvest of all the delicious food that has been grown over the summer.
