Each year, over 300 volunteers from Pasadena ISD contributed to the success of the McDonald’s Texas Invitational Basketball Tournament. Some worked during the event, while others dedicated their efforts year-round. The Steering Committee honors an individual who went above and beyond to ensure the smooth operation of the tournament. In 2024, we proudly recognized Bruce Stone as the recipient of the Barry Harris Extra Effort Award. Stone was instrumental in designing logos, t-shirts, program covers, and posters, and assisted with nearly every printed and online document for the tournament. He also managed the tournament webpage, updating information regularly. During the event, Stone tirelessly updated scores and brackets in our (MTI app), often working late into the night. Dr. Kirk Lewis
frequently contacted Stone at odd hours for assistance, to which Stone always responded promptly and without complaint. Despite balancing a full-time job, Stone dedicated his time from home and on weekends to support the tournament. We were deeply grateful for his years of dedication and were delighted to present him with this well-deserved award.
