Academic Archers - Bullseye! Educators are always trying to hit the target of academic and social-emotional growth and Stuchbery has found 1 target. Archery! We will use Archery as a cross-curricular activity to address several competencies across all grade levels. Focusing on Reading and Math but extending the skills of learning how to become an Archer. From research to measurement to the self-confidence and resilience in understanding Archery our students will have opportunities to learn more and grow more. Hitting the target is the GOAL.
Apple Technology in the Music Performance - Technology and fine arts can go hand in hand, but can sometimes be a hard pair to match without the right equipment. The band department at Miller Intermediate desires to bring more hands on technology to use in our program. Our innovative directors will use iPad’s linked through screen sharing methods to enhance rehearsal techniques, display dynamic feedback in real time, and allow for bended learning in the rehearsal setting. The apps that will be used to engage students in our classroom are Apple specific, and will facilitate students to take ownership of their own development.
Batting Cages Windscreens - The Longhorn Baseball program is requesting protective windscreens around their batting cages. These windscreens serve multiple purposes, allowing current players, former players in college baseball, and the community, including Little League participants, to utilize the facilities. The windscreens provide essential protection and instill a sense of pride in the community and athletes, knowing they have updated and safe facilities. However, financial constraints have limited progress in improving the field each year. The addition of windscreens is crucial for any high school baseball program.
Biographies for All - The Teague Elementary library program is the heart of the school, and the importance of a thriving library is crucial to academic success. However, our library falls short in the area of biographies. We simply do not have a large enough selection to fulfill our student’s needs, and many of our biographies are old and outdated. Our school needs “Biographies for All” to meet the demands of our students and to update some of our current archaic selections. Our students deserve a plethora of biographies to read about the amazing people whose stories deserve to be shared and loved.
Our Biology Without Walls - Immersive Learning Experience program will allow our students and faculty to develop responsibility, empathy, and provide an opportunity to better self-regulate emotions during times of stress. Additionally, this program will better support all students and faculty in their understanding of how to properly care and provide for another creature, which will promote a more successful and considerate culture within our building. Lastly, there are a myriad of opportunities to enrich the learning of our students through discussions surrounding habitats, food sources, activity levels of animals, and many other topics through our existing Science Enrichment program.
Bondy Band’s Sing me a Story - Over the past decade, the bands at Bondy Intermediate have cultivated one of the most successful, high-performing, and community-focused performing programs in Pasadena ISD. The bands have consistently won numerous UIL Sweepstakes awards, placed high numbers of students in TMEA Region Bands, and were recently named a 2023 Commended Winner in The Foundation for Music Education’s Mark of Excellence National Wind Band Honors Competition. The Bondy Band Directors drive this success by striving to find new performance opportunities that challenge their students to grow as musicians, and also as young men and women in our community.

Books to Silver Screen Club - In a safe and welcoming setting Books to Silver Screen Club is offered each Wednesday after school in the library. We meet and read books chosen by student consensus. We choose from books that will or have been made into a movie. To assist with comprehending the book we listen simultaneously to a professionally performed audio reading of the book. Each student gets a book that helps begin their own personal library. After each reading session, we discuss the book and then collaboratively write a summary of the number of pages read and submit our summaries into Beanstalk.
Bringing the Beat to South Houston - Through “Bringing the Beat” South Houston Elementary is excited to introduce a new set of drums and percussion instruments to our school to help enhance the learning experience in the music classroom. These instruments will provide students with opportunities to explore different cultures, cultivate teamwork, and provide a place for creative expression. By integrating this variety of drums, we aim to build an inclusive and engaging environment where students can flourish.
Building a Safe and Connected School - Matthys Elementary promotes the importance of safety and connections as key elements in learning. The effects of social isolation during the pandemic are now reflecting an increase in student behavior and a lack of positive social interactions. This project will provide children with opportunities to feel safe and connected and tools to help them identify and manage emotions. It will help to empower our teachers, students, and parents with the necessary resources and tools to be able to provide the skills needed to help the emotional wellbeing of our entire school family.
Building Community One Square at a Time - 9 Square in the Air combines volleyball and 4-square but expands the court to 9 squares and raises it. A youth pastor developed the fast paced and fun game in an effort to build community one square at a time. PK-4 students would use 9 square in the Air during PE and recess. Students and parents would also use the game at community events during and after school 9 Square promotes health and wellness but also promotes team work.

Building Voices, Making Musicians - The J. Frank Dobie High School Choir Program has established a tradition of excellence, and we are proud to have earned a reputation as an innovative and exciting organization that provides its membership with quality musical and educational experiences. Our mission is to foster life-long learners from a diverse community cultivating creativity, innovation, and expression through the arts. Our program provides numerous opportunities to students, including Region and All-State, School Musicals, Talent-Shows, Solo & Ensemble, Show Choir, Social Activities, Field Trips, Private Vocal Lessons, and Music Theory. Our program has 200 students with an array of strengths and abilities. Many of our choir students are enrolled in our program for all 4 years of High School.
Can you Hear Me Now? - ClearChat Comfort/USB H390 Headsets are necessary tools for all students to use at Kruse Elementary. As our district increases the use of technology, on-line programs, and on-line testing, quality headsets with a microphone are a must. Receiving funding for this mini grant will provide the additional headsets needed to assure each student enrolled at Kruse has the necessary tools to participate effectively not only in learning, but also in completing mandated assessments.
Character, Plot Development w/ Books in a Series - Have you ever felt a connection to a character in a favorite book? Reading books with favorite characters is like reading with your best friend. It is especially motivating when the book is in a series. Students want to read the rest of the story to learn and grow right along with the book character. Reading books in a series can increase students’ understanding of character development and plot, thus improving overall reading comprehension.

Chess Minds Unite - This grant is being submitted with great enthusiasm and to request support for a significant educational initiative at our 5th and 6th grade campus, Fred Roberts Middle School. As a campus that receives students from an elementary feeder which has consistently achieved remarkable success in district chess competitions, we aim to enhance the chess education program for our students. We are seeking funding to provide chess resources and activities that will foster cognitive development and strategic thinking among the entire faculty and student body.
Color PHS Band - At Pasadena High School, the Color Guard, a program within the Eagle Alliance Marching Band, is experiencing tremendous growth, far exceeding our current equipment and uniform reserves. In efforts to bolster the Color Guard program, we are seeking funds to provide the fundamental equipment needed to participate in these UIL programs, removing the financial barrier students may face when deciding to participate. We look forward to becoming an integral part of student engagement where all are welcome to join.

Cosmetology Salon Equipment - Cosmetology is a four-year program where an average of 165 students earn 1,000 credit hours and obtain their Texas Cosmetology Operator License before Graduation. 9th graders focus on Esthetics, 10th on nails, 11th on hair and 12th grade focuses on advanced techniques and their certification. The beauty industry constantly evolves and sets out new equipment, products, techniques and services regularly. As one of the top Cosmetology programs, CTHS Instructors do our best to properly prepare our students to be skilled in the art of beauty so 100% can obtain their license and be employable before or upon Graduation.
Creating a Percussion Lab - The Morris Band has an enrollment of over 160 students. We are in the final stage of creating a percussion lab for our 5th and 6th grade students using Pearl Mallet stations. This innovative technology will allow us to run a music class that will keep students more engaged and allow the director the ability to work with a given individual student where they are at. The lab would enable us to differentiate instruction beyond what we currently do.
Building Little Engineers and Architects through STREAM - will help bring S.T.R.E.A.M (Science, Technology, Reading, Arts, and Math) learning activities to the Parks Library during Makerspace. Makerspace provides hands-on learning experiences that foster curiosity, critical thinking, and problem solving skills. Students work collaboratively, become engineers and architects, and apply their classroom content learning through STREAM. A Makerspace library is an active library that scaffolds S.T.R.E.A.M and allows students to be responsible for their own self-directed learning. Students learn 21st century skills to apply presently, in college, and in their future workplace.

Cuéntame unos cuentos fonéticos - Cuentos fonéticos de Scholastic are a HIGHLY NEEDED material at our campus for our Kinder, First and Second Grade Dual Language classes. These students are acquiring Spanish and need additional support since they are not native Spanish speakers. This project will help give our Dual students the opportunity to develop necessary phonics skills to become fluent readers. Our district has shifted the curriculum to align to the Science of Reading and these resources will support our campus academic goals to build their foundational skills in phonics and phonemic awareness. This project will highly impact our Dual Language program goal.
Cultivating Creativity in the Pre-K Classroom - We want to provide children with daily opportunities to engage in meaningful indoor and outdoor activities that promote their creativity, innovative thinking, and exploration. The materials will help in designing an environment that will offer experiences that foster children’s curiosity and creative thinking. The goal of the Pre-K team at Matthys Elementary is to increase student achievement with handson activities in the classroom. Studies show that students who participate in hands-on learning activities demonstrate an increase in vocabulary, problem-solving skills, cause and effect thinking, communication skills, socialemotional growth, and most importantly it provides a motivation to learn.

Cultivating Readers Using the Science of Reading - To become skilled, purposeful readers students need to be exposed to a variety of books that will provide them meaningful reading opportunities. Our second grade students are currently engaged with reading materials that focus on comprehension success, limiting student growth to build and master phonetic knowledge. Developing and growing phonetic skills is the key to students demonstrating and applying all phonological skills. Our mission is to educate our students with many reading skills they need to become successful, skill based readers. This project will support our team in preparing and achieving reading success.
Curriculum Blast - Generating excitement about learning is a major goal of every school. We best meet this goal with parent support. We invite parents to the school to participate in high interest, engaging activities done alongside their sons and daughters. We call these events “Curriculum Blasts”. Each Curriculum Blast has a unique theme so that students and their parents have a new and exciting experience year-to-year.
Decodable Readers - Decodables readers are learning during class instruction. Moreover, they give readers the chance to practice basic skills and gain confidence in reading, all while connecting their instruction to an actual book. PK-2 students at Williams Elementary would use decodable readers daily with teacher support during reading small group instruction to reinforce whole group phonics lessons and practice phonic skills. Students would also use decodable readers to practice fluency independently and cooperatively with a partner in class and with their parents at home.
Ditching Dewy and Being Dynamic! - The Hancock library is looking to support student interest and classroom curriculum through a variety of nonfiction titles. A new library trend that will help with this is arranging the books on the shelves in “Dynamic Shelving” rather than dewy decimal order. Dynamic shelving give the library the look and feel of a book store where students are able to see the front covers of books rather that the book spine.
Double Play - If this project gets funded, the funds would go towards reconstructing and renovating our baseball field on campus. As of now we don’t have quality dirt, dugouts, pitching mounds, home plate area and more that would allow us to host baseball games and events year around. With this grant we would fund the renovations allowing us to play home games on campus as opposed to traveling for every game.
Dynamic Shelving for Dynamite Readers - The Burnett Elementary Library needs dynamic shelving for front-facing books in the non-fiction section of the library to increase circulation, simplify book selection for students, encourage responsibility, and to create a safe environment for our students.
Eagles for the “win(d) - The Eagle Baseball Program is in need of a wind protection screen across the outfield fence. This is necessary to keep our practice field in top condition to have district games. It is the only way to ensure that we, as a program, have pride in our facility. We continually improve our practice field yearly with minimal progress due to financial deficits. This is an important factor of any high school baseball program.
Early Bird Stories for Early Readers - Our school has a need for new decodable books for our students. The majority of our PK, Kinder and 1st graders are reading on levels A-E and currently share an aged collection of decodable books used for both Guided Reading and Take Home Readers. These books have been damaged due to heavy circulation over a 17 year time period. This project will enable us to provide a variety of books on their level, increase their motivation to read, support their learning needs in advancing through their reading levels and to help them achieve their educational goals.

Engineering Collaborative with Adaptive - Engineering Practicum is a senior level course that offers project-based learning opportunities for students. Students write proposals, plan projects based on a specific problem they are attempting to solve, design CAD drawings to support their ideas, order materials and equipment and build their design ideas. The course provides opportunities for students to solve real-world problems with their original ideas. This promotes creativity, innovation, and problem-solving skills that they can utilize in their future careers and endeavors. Student proposals must be submitted for approval and go through several layers of the approval process. The course provides hands-on learning opportunities for students.
Fine Art for Mindfulness and the ABC’s - Fine art supplies re-utilized in the art room daily to inspire creativity and mindfulness with in the whole school. Students use various mediums in the Seven Elements of Art including line, color, space, texture, collage, drawing, painting, and sculpture, Materials are also integrated into Pre-K, Kinder, First and Second grade, and special education to develop ELAR and fine motor skills. Teachers add these supplies to help students connect the letter and sound of the week.
5 Kinds of Nonfiction - Gogo Library -The Laura Bush Library has a need for all types of Nonfiction texts. This project will provide students access to current and relevant nonfiction books in print and digital form to read at school and at home. Bellwether books has a special offer for purchasing the print books and getting some free copies of the same book in digital form on their multi-user digital library platform, GoGo Library. This project will give all students simultaneous access to a wide variety of nonfiction texts from any location. Teachers will also use these titles to support classroom instruction.
Flying High with Audio and Video - P.A.V.E. is a hands-on project to acquire equipment to provide students with real-world AV experience as they utilize electronic media for campus projects throughout the school year including the McDonald’s Texas Invitational tournament. Students are responsible for live streaming the basketball tournament worldwide and ensuring the tournament has an active social media presence. This growing annual event brings in revenue for the Education Foundation benefiting students in Pasadena ISD through the foundation’s generous support. Providing students with real-world experiences throughout the year.
Frazier Math Carnival - Developing number concepts and fact fluency leads to success in students’ futures. It frees up brain power, or working memory, to solve more complex mathematical problems. It’s difficult for students to solve complex mathematics while struggling through basic computations. Frazier has been implementing the PISD Number Concepts & Fact Fluency plan for 3 years now. Funding this grant will allow us to celebrate and motivate student growth.
Glowing in Art with Glowforge - The Glowforge Aura is a laser that can cut, engrave, and score a hundreds of materials. The Aura will open the doors to wider forms of art for our campus, as well as provide a new form of fundraising. The Glowforge can be used to cut paper for collages, recycled cardboard for 3D projects, wood and acrylic for fundraising events. Due to the ability to engrave, students are able to use paint to show the texture or drawing they designed. Some supplies will be recycled from the campus and others will be purchased using the funds from the fundraisers.
Habits Turn into Character - Weight Room for Students
J. Frank Dobie High School
Demond Stafford 9-12
Weight lifting, PE, Athletics/Sports
This grant proposal aims to secure funding to upgrade the weight room at Dobie High School. The current weight room lacks essential equipment, hindering students’ ability to engage in effective strength training and conditioning. By upgrading the weight room, we can provide students with a safe and modern facility that promotes physical fitness and overall well-being. This will attract more students to participate in sports and physical activities, fostering a sense of community and teamwork. This grant will not only benefit our current students, but also future generations, ensuring they have access to the necessary resources for a healthy lifestyle.

Hancock: Putting ART IN HeART! - Fine art supplies are utilized in the Art Room to inspire creativity and artistic mindfulness across all grade levels, including our Special Education ABLE class. Various mediums are implement using the Seven Elements of Art: line, shape, color, space, texture, form, and value. Upon mastering these techniques, students have opportunities to use these techniques in projects including collage, drawing, painting, and sculpture. These art projects will develop fine-motor skills, nurture students creativity and be integrated into a more communal space for the students and teachers to use for content integration Art lessons.
Hands on Tools for Marvelous Math - Every student deserves the best hands-on math manipulative’s, and our students are no different! We desire to engage our students with every best tool and best practice. Our students are young and learn best with the concrete! We have some of the tools but not enough for every child to fully experience the concrete phase of math. Our students’ learning is our top priority, and we want them to get what is developmentally needed.
Health Body, Health Mind, Happy Heart - Our goal in physical education is to develop students physical and emotional we being while having fun. With all the challenges of today’s world, including technology and sedentary life style, now more than ever, we need to increase ply in the gym. We engage students in physical activity and teach locomotor skills, body awareness, spatial awareness, teamwork, and soft skills. The topics covered in physical education during the school year are multifaceted with the goal of developing students to be active and have healthy habits. We use equipment in multiple skills that include play. The equipment facilitates students’ learning while engaging them in fun activities. We need plenty of equipment to accommodate several classrooms at a time.

10:4 Help is on the Way! - The ability to respond quickly & efficiently can mean the difference between being able to intervene and correct a situation before escalation. Safety is a top concern for our campus. To have adequate and efficient communication to respond to safety incidents we are requesting walkie talkies for each pod, administrator and for the cafeteria.
Keeping It Real: Updating Replenishing Non-Fiction Books - The Kendrick library is a warm, beautiful and inviting place for students and school community to visit. It is a safe place where all patrons can find books that they CAN and WANT to read. The library collection is curated to provide books that support both the curriculum and personal interest needs of its patrons. The Kendrick library strives to be a relevant and accessible resource to all of the library community. Students are often excited and ready with book requests when entering the library, and it is our goal to fulfill those requests.
Keyboards for creativity, community & Music Literacy - South Saver Elementary, a title one school is seeking to acquire thirty electronic keyboard bundles that include headphones, stands, benches, power strips, extension cords, and methods books. This is a pilot program with not end date that will benefit kindergarten through fourth grad students. The keyboards will improve ensemble work, focused listening, music literacy, community building, and creative expression.
Kicking toward
SUCCESS - Carter Lomax PE services approximately 600 students. In Spring of 2023, the tornado that swept through Pasadena and Deer Park destroyed one of the campus soccer goals. This grant would replace the destroyed soccer goal so that the soccer field can be utilized to teach valuable skills that can impact various aspects of life, including education, career, relationships, and personal development .
Let our Voices be Heard - will bring quality sound to the Hancock stage and cafeteria. Our students put on amazing performances and yet can barely be heard. We see to enhance all of Hancock’s student and community activities through a permanent sound system. The community will benefit from being able to hear the students as well as many assemblies, workshops and guest performers.

Let’s Get Comfortable - Research shows that students in schools with good libraries learn more, get better grades, and score higher on standardized test scores than their peers without school libraries. Fortunately, all of our elementary schools have libraries, however, they are not all created equal. Many of the schools in our district have been remodeled or reconstructed, whereas our school is one of the oldest buildings in the district and needs some upgrades to put it up to par with the rest of the elementary schools.
Let’s Get Equipped! - We are a physical education class with our focus on teaching students to enjoy physical activity along with learning about their health through games. We are wanting to replace the old equipment with the new so the students can be more successful at the skills taught! It will make playing way more fun if the equipment functions properly!
Let’s Goooo with Robotics will provide our campus with additional robotics kits so that we can give more students an opportunity to join the world of robotics! Last year, we brought our Robotics Club back after being on hiatus for several years. With limited materials, we could only include a small number of kids in our club, but we still won first place in the district competition! We want to expand our Robotics Club so more kids can participate, and we want to utilize the kits in our STEAM lab, where all 3rd and 4th graders will learn about robotics.
Library Learning Lab - We would like to add a learning lab to the library to enrich the science curriculum and promote S.T.E.A.M. activities. Providing science curriculum support also gives us the opportunity to practice important library skills including inquiry-based learning, and information and digital literacy. We would like to add two maker lab tables to provide necessary storage for science themed material boxes and a designated place to perform S.T.E.A.M. related activities. The storage capabilities and flexibility of the tables makes it possible for them to be utilized during after-school curriculum related school events with parents.

Library Reading Incentives - With the help of Beanstalk, Pasadena High School Library has a reading contest every month. We would use the grant money to buy more expensive and desirable prizes, keeping to the $100 per student rule. We would focus on more STEM-related kits, books, Lego sets, arts and craft supplies, Manga books, earbuds, and other things the students like. We believe by offering more desirable prizes, students’ reading and reading fluency will increase. With the help of this grant we will also be cultivating a culture of reading throughout the building.
Life is better when we RUN - Eight years ago, we fund-raised for an outdoor track. Within a year we raised the $30,000 needed for our 6th mile hot asphalt track right outside our gym doors. What a blessing this track has been. We use it faithfully every day (weather permitting) for open gym running club, and warm-up jogging in all grades. Families use it during our monthly evening Monday Mile Meet events. Teachers use it after school, and people in our community use it after hours and on weekends. Our track has become a valuable physical activity space for our school and our community.
Lights, Camera, and Pose! - This will be my second year teaching and my classes more than doubled in size in just one year! With that also comes the need for more cameras and other equipment. Commercial Photography is the course name, but I try and teach my students more than that! Yes we cover the commercial side of photography, but we also learn a bit of color theory, camera knowledge & basics, posing, lighting and we now get to explore how a studio is used (I re-purposed a room to a full studio) with a bit of basic editing and Photoshop fun.
Listen Up for All Access - Our third and fourth grade classrooms are in need of class sets of working headphones, wired computer mice and storage solutions for these items. Because of the new testing logistics, students need to be equipped to be able to be successful not only during testing, but also during the school day as well with all the new technology we are using these days. We want to be able to provide all students with the opportunity to use quality headphones and computer mice, not only those who are financially able to provide their own.

The Lobo Readers are Leaders project - will provide 555 students and the school library with a book vending machine. The book vending machine will create a reward system to encourage students to read more and improve their literacy scores. Students must meet a goal of 10 hours of logged reading time per nine weeks to access the book vending machine. DeZavala Middle School expects each student will increase by at least one reading level
Make the Pitch - The South Houston High School baseball program offers studentathletes a great environment to succeed and offers an opportunity for developing the total student-athlete. Players have access to our equipment and facilities, unmatched coaching, guidance and support, in addition to a like-minded program filled with passion and motivation. Featuring multiple teams based on grade and skill level, our dedicated student-athletes of all types have the opportunity to maximize their potential. Our trojanball mentality is second to none, with constant improvement in all facets of being a student-athlete.
Making Magic with Markerspace - Our library STEAM program is in its beginning stages as we are slowly building up the materials needed to provide our students with items that are not only of good quality, but also complement our STEAM reading material. Our current STEAM program includes books that promote STEAM activities, related to architecture, magnets, art projects, matter, etc. Currently our Makerspace STEAM activities are used with Pre-K, 3rd, and 4th grade students as part of the ancillary rotation and with our Gifted and Talented students as part of their pull-out program.
Math Madness - Bridges intervention provides targeted instruction, aligned with TEK standards, for K-4 math skills and concepts. It’s a strength based approach that complements the general education curriculum. It is intended for small groups, such as within a special education classroom or during support facilitation time. The material is organized by content, instead of grade level. This allows special education students to receive focused math instruction at their level. Bridges Intervention builds on a students abilities not deficits.
Mathia for Algebra 1 - South Houston High School is committee to ensuring all students receive rigorous, engaging, and authentic learning experiences in all of our mathematics classrooms. Through the use of Mathia, “a program that personalizes instruction for middle school and high school students based on how they learn over time” teachers will be able to increase student engagement and accountability, provide personal and immediate feedback to students, and promote ownership of student work. While Algebra 1 teachers are currently utilizing a pilot version of the program, Mathia license will allows continued learning for students and data driven instruction for teachers.
Mental Health Matters - School based mental health plays a crucial role in providing a safe and supportive environment to students and families. Research shows that social emotional learning (SEL) improves achievement, increases prosocial behavior (such as kindness and empathy), improves student attitudes towards school, and reduces depression and stress among students. Promoting social and emotional development for students at school involves teaching, modeling, and giving students an opportunity to apply these skills in various situations. Our school needs a variety of counseling tools that will assist in providing the basis for the mental health needs and wellness of our students.
Milstead Student Led Activates for STARR - This grant would allow all of our Math teachers to purchase hands on workstation materials from Lakeshore Learning, so that they could successfully implement student led activities into their classrooms; which would positively impact the children’s understanding of math concepts. Allowing them to work in groups and dialogue about math would also improve our ELL’s language acquisition and their STAAR 2.0 scores.

Mission: Motivate Mathematician - Math workstations are part of our daily routine to address the needs of all learners. We need to update our games to keep our mathematicians motivated and engaged. As teachers work with a small group of students the rest of the students are in workstations. Math games provide students the opportunity to practice meaningful skills they have learned. When students work in groups playing math games they are leaning much more than just math concepts. Math games are hands on, engaging, help develop conceptual understanding, problem solving skills, reasoning, communication skills, and improve attitudes about math by making it fun.
Mobile Math Mastery - This is a Math Intervention/RTI program to close the gaps in students’ foundational math skills. The program is designed to find the deficits that students have within state standards and essential core skills and provide teachers with the resources that are needed for systematic and targeted math intervention. The math intervention program follows the CRA (concrete, representational, abstract) model of teaching/learning that aligns with district expectations. This program can also be used for students who are exceeding grade level by providing enrichment exercises to meet their needs.
Modeling Mastery: Innovative Hands-On Teaching in Biology - is a transformative initiative designed to revolutionize biology education at Dobie. Recognizing the pressing need for active, hands-on learning, this program introduces pioneering kits that translate abstract concepts into tangible experiences. Aligned with district goals, it aims to deepen comprehension, foster active engagement, and bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world application. By integrating these innovative tools, we’re not just teaching biology; we’re reshaping how it’s experienced, making it more interactive, relevant, and impactful for every student. Join us in this ambitious shift towards a more engaged, hands-on future in biology education.
Multisensory area for students with significant needs - Multi-sensory rooms are immersive environments which have been specifically designed to give students the opportunity to use their sense of sight, sounds, smell, and touch as a grounding effect. This grounding will help lower anxiety and stress that the student may experience in the classroom. Through specifically designed sensory environments that cater to the sensory needs of students with Autism and/or other developmental needs, we are able to provide a safe area that aids in the reduction of agitation, anxiety, and improves the development of though and social skills that is necessary to become contributing members of society.
No “Shelf” Control at Fisher Elementary - Fisher Elementary is a Title I school that serves 566 students, grades Pre-K through 4th grade. The population of students is composed of 296 Bilingual students (52%), 37 students identified as Gifted and Talented (6%), 104 students with a Special Education indicator (18%), 11 students served under Section 504 (2%), and 402 students who are classified as low socio-economic status (71%). The school has four Pre-K classrooms, five Kindergarten classrooms, six first grade classrooms, and seven second, third, and fourth grade classrooms. In addition, there are two ABLE units, one SUCCESS class, and one ECSE classroom.

PICKLEBALL FOR ALL - Pickle ball is quickly becoming one of the most popular sports all over the world. The concept of pickle ball is rather easy to pick up, and the rules are easy to learn. But most importantly, pickle ball is just so much fun! The sport of pickle ball directly aligns with our physical education TEKS taught in PK-12th grade. Pickle ball is also aligned with our Employee Wellness initiatives in Pasadena ISD. Through the application of this grant, our hope is to be able to bring the sport of “Pickle ball” to our students, staff, community, and the entire district.
Picture This! - a program aimed to get students off their phones and into the field of photography. By providing every student in the classroom with a camera, Picture This! hopes to inspire the next generation of professional photographers by giving them real experience inside and outside the classroom.
Entire District Podium for All - As one of the go to event production leads at Pasadena ISD, I help Dr. McCarley and many others put together many of the special events for the district’s students. Events this will benefit are Pasadena ISD Graduations, The Education Foundations Shining Stars, Teacher of the Year Celebration, the Athletics Hall of Fame Banquet, and so many more!
Pretty Please with a Cherry Laptop - We are an Early College Program. Our program is geared towards students from low income house holds who typically would not go to college. We encourage and motivate students to pursue a higher degree. The ultimate goal for all students is for them to graduate with their high school diploma and an associates degree, saving them thousands of dollars. It also gives them a head start on any career they are passionate about since they have saved two years.
S.T.R.E.A.M. on Bison Boulevard - brings (Science, Technology, Reading, Arts, and Math) learning activities to the Hancock Library during Markerspace. Students work in collaborative groups, sharpen their problem solving skills, become engineers, artists, architects and apply their classroom content learning to hands-on activities. A Makerspace library is an active library that scaffolds S.T.R.E.A.M and allows students to be responsible for their own self-directed learning. Makerspace teaches students that mistakes are part of the learning process and should persevere. Students are learning 21st century skills to apply in their current classroom, in college and in their future workplace.
Safety in Numbers - Fathers will be empowered by helping keep our campus safe and secured through acquiring knowledge of the Conscious Discipline philosophy, learn strategies to address emotional needs and by serving as extra set of eyes enhancing school security and providing a greater sense of campus safety. Training will come from the “Watch D.O.G.S.” Program, monthly “Positive Discipline Training and “Youth & Mental Health Chats”. The Positive Discipline Training utilizes the “Conscious Discipline Model” to help parents become behavior coaches. Our “Watch D.O.G.S.” program encourage fathers or father figures to get involved by volunteering their time and serving as positive role models.
Saving Lives - Shootings, threats, weather emergencies... Scary! Staff feels anxious. Will we be able to protect students and keep them safe? Will we know what to do? Do we have skills and tools? Our goal at Matthys is to provide adequate trainings like Alice, STOP THE BLEED, CPR/AED/FIRST AID and creating MERT/SAFETY teams to be able timely intervene if necessary. If every POD/grade level is equipped with an “emergency” kit and appropriate PPE, immediate care will be provided by the trained staff without any hesitation or delay and better outcome for the most affected will be ensured.

Sculpting the Future: Empowering- #PISD Math Gals is a district-wide movement that empowers young girls to learn from prominent women in the fields of STEM. By providing positive rolls models to emulate, these girls can envision themselves as future leaders in these industries and discover their unique pathway to mathematical empowerment. Exposure is critical because when students are involved in a process from beginning to end, they are more likely to remember the experiences and skills they applied to create a product. Therefore, with 3 D pens, we want to expose our #PISD Math Gals to the most modern technology at their fingertips.
Sensory Break Room - The school day can be extremely overwhelming to a neurodivergent student. Our goal at Roberts is to create a sensory room on campus to meet diverse learners’ needs, especially those with sensory processing disorders. A tactile room will give students a safe place to regulate themselves among other positive aspects. Additionally, time in the sensory room will increase their mood, allow them to calm their overactive brain and increase their ability to focus. This room will be an outlet for those students who need time to balance their nervous systems.
South Houston High School Feeder Fun Runs - are designed to build a sense of pride and community with in the SHHS feeder pattern. These events serve as a monthly outreach activities connecting our current Trojans with future Trojans in an effort to build a deeper sense of pride and excitement about eventually attending South Houston HS. SHHS students work directly with elementary students and their families to provide a free, safe and fun family night out. This program also allows South Houston students the opportunity to give back to the elementary schools that laid the foundation for their education.
South Houston HS Reality Fair - Our CTE Business courses are taught by 4 teachers with approximately 400 students. I teach five Money Management personal finance classes where I help students learn the language of money and prepare them to successfully navigate their finances in the real world. All of our business courses are geared to helping students be successful after high school whether they are going to college or straight into a career. We provide personable finance lessons that apply to budgeting, savings, debt management and more.
Spanish and Bilingual Picture Books - Our bilingual students at South Shaver Elementary love reading. Students from PreK all the way up to 4th frequent our picture book section. This grant will allow us the opportunity to add 250 new and engaging Spanish and bilingual books to our collection.
Spot The Difference - Purpose: The purpose of this project is to be able to triage students with a vision deficit in a much faster and efficient way in the school setting. By replacing our current SLOAN chart with this advanced technology, I will be able to screen all students, no matter their disability, objectively and at a much faster pace. Goal: The goal of this project is to eliminate the delay in sending out vision referrals that the SLOAN chart currently gives us by the end of the school year and every year after that. By accomplishing this, more time can be focused on proper follow-up and ensuring families are receiving adequate resources so that our South Houston students aren’t left without glasses.
Striking Up Creativity! - Would increase the tools we have on campus for students to create their own music. This grant would allow us to purchase mini-steel drums and much needed mallets for the barred instruments that we already have. The American Orff Schulwerk Association for Music says “The creative impulse lies in everyone,” even the youngest of our children. It is our goal to help students find this impulse and to nurture it and develop it. Additional instruments and equipment will allow every student to explore music and to experience themselves as a creative person.

Stringing together a new future for PHS Tennis - Fixing our windscreen to not only provide protection from the wind, but also bring pride back to our courts. Bringing technology and tools to our program to not only improve our skills and abilities, but also give us less down time with drills and on-site racquet stringing. $4,700.00
Supplies for Success: Self Managing Emotions Toolkit -These Social Emotional Learning items are intended to support the SEL needs of all students at Mae Smythe Elementary. SEL toolkits will be created for each Pre-K to 4th grade classroom so that all students have ongoing access to tools that improve self regulation skills on campus. In addition, the SEL toolkits will provide teachers with effective SEL strategies and skills that foster a positive classroom environment and decrease classroom disruptions. With opportunities to enhance self-management, Mae Smythe Elementary students will improve academically, emotionally, and socially.
The Trade of Tech Theatre -The Trade of Tech Theatre is to help enable all tech theatre students to learn the basic elements of design and building. Not only will these elements be important for theatrical productions, but for implementing life-long skills and utilizing basic design, construction, and painting techniques for other programs. We need to build a supply of equipment and show students how to organize and maintain it, while also making the environment “hands-on” for all students. Students will learn how to go from the developmental stage to the actual completion stage.
The Eagle’s Nest School Store project - is an innovative way to incorporate a real business on a high school campus. It is designed to teach our Omega students skills for running a business as well as promote a student-centered learning environment. Students will learn all the aspects of running a business including: advertising, promotion, accounting, customer service, developing product, and consumer loyalty. This program will help the students to begin acquiring real-world job skills from completing inventory to understanding the business processes. The goal of this program is to provide the students with real-world business experiences while on campus.
The Matthys Reading Garden! - At Matthys Elementary we are always looking for ways to increase student achievement in reading. Studies show that outdoor education supports emotional, behavioral and intellectual development. Studies have shown that students who learn outdoors develop a sense of self, independence, confidence, creativity, decision-making and problem-solving skills, empathy towards others, and initiative. Our Matthys Reading Garden will allow students to enjoy the benefits of outdoor learning
The Revolutionary Art Studio of the Eternal Artistic Mindset - We want to create a professional “Art Studio” concept in the classroom by adding drafting tables to provide an environment that gives our art students a transitional stage from the elementary mindset. This project’s goals are to provide individual responsibilities and ownership, give a real-world creative area with a professional workspace that makes it flexible to meet the needs of individuals and flexibility for group work focused on Visual Arts. It is to give the individual space for artistic expression with reduced distractions and peer pressure to increase productivity.
Tokens for Books - Matthys Elementary is utilizing an exciting and motivational approach to build academic achievement, character development, and an increase in daily attendance by rewarding students with books. Students receive tokens for meeting the criteria set by our campus committee and are using them to purchase books from our campus book vending machine. Our current selection of books have been funded through campus book fairs, our annual fall carnival, and literacy family camp night. It is essential that our campus increase our book supply for the demand that our students are earning.

Tools to regain your cool: mental health matters - This program will help provide our students with a safe space to help them regulate and be able to return to the educational environment. The library is used by the counselors to provide a quiet space for students to be able to regulate and allow them to return to the learning environment. The students view the library as a safe space and already naturally come here when they need a break or a quiet space. Along with the calming corner, we will be implementing a SEL book club that will take place during lunches in the library.
Utilizing Calming Stations to Promote SEL - Dobie High School is in need of calming stations to teach students how to reflect on, take responsibility, and self-regulate behavior. Calming stations will afford students the opportunity to remain in the classroom and out of the office. We are asking for calming stations to help reduce the number of students that are miss instruction due to behavior. Calming stations would also give students who don’t like to go to the office the opportunity to decompress their emotions as well. We are asking for calming stations to help students learn about and deal with social and emotional problems.
Wanted Mustangs Book Vending Machine- is a Wild Wild West themed book vending machine available to our Mae Smythe Mustang students. The book vending machine Wanted poster states that it is in search of Mustangs exhibiting exemplifying character qualities in both behavior and literacy. Staff and community members will be the sheriffs searching for students to reward gold coins. Students can use coins awarded to them in the book vending machine, located near the library and front office. This project will help increase interest in reading; promote a culture of exemplifying character and excitement of literacy on our campus.
Where Education Meets Industry! - Our focus lies at the intersection of education and industry, where we excel. A significant gap exists between the skills and abilities that education imparts and the demands of industrial work. Our school district’s industrial business partners have acknowledged that graduates from our PMHS Welding program possess crucial employability skills. However, our program is currently operating beyond its capacity, and it is challenging for the instructor to adequately cater to all students’ needs. This grant can help us address these challenges and increase the inclusive and equitable impact we offer to prepare our PMHS Welding students for the workforce.
A World of Color at RMS - We want to bring color to our curriculum! With the purchase of a color printer, two cameras, and tripods, our students will be able to utilize them to print projects created by Student Council and create Student Council commercials, print, and document necessary pieces for STEAM fair and GT fair projects, and allow elective students to print and share some of their work with their peers and parents. Our students will be able to use digital programs to create designs for the campus, parents, and organizations. The printer and commercials will allow another way to involve our stakeholders.
Zen Den: Creating Mental Health Spaces at School - At Lomax, we are dedicated to guiding students in developing strategies for their emotional and social well being. One way is by creating a Zen Room open to all students. Zen rooms offer a place where students can go when they feel overwhelmed, anxious, or unable to regulate their emotions. These rooms include different sensory activities that students can partake in to refocus their attention before returning to the classroom. Research shows that offering students access to such rooms helps them regulate emotions and stress, in turn, making them more attentive and active participants in class and improves academic success.
School Book Blast Initiative - Our students at South Shaver love learning and sharing new information. Learners of all ages will have the ability to share their learning with their families through our Book Blast Initiative. This grant will allow our students the opportunity to demonstrate the ways in which they have synthesized their lessons in a fun and engaging manner.
