President's Note Hello Paschal Key Clubbers! We are just one month away from DCON and the start of a new term! February was a very slow month for Key Club. Most of our service projects were rescheduled due to the weather and we had those crazy snow days. At this point in time, it’s crucial to not fall behind. As DCON 2015 approaches, I challenge you all—the members of Paschal Key Club—to leave this year in a better place than when we started. March is going to be the last month for the current board, and I hope every one of you keeps up your hard work. Every little thing can make a huge difference in the impact that we leave. I cannot wait to see all of you at DCON, where we’ll come together and celebrate. Stay tuned for upcoming service projects! Stay funky. Yours in service, Junsung Lee

Editor's Note Hey everyone! February has been a slow time for many activities around school, but especially service projects. I know we all enjoyed our snow days and other days off, but let's not forget that DCON is almost here! We have some aweesome ideas lined up for the DCON contests: scrapbook, T-Rex head - even the talent show! If you're interested in any of these, come help us out! And bring your friends too. On another note, we will soon be announcing the winner of our Editor's Choice raffle! So if you wrote a noteworthy article in any past newsletter, your name is the drawing to win a Starbucks gift card! Hope to see you at our next meeting, where we will be drawing the name of the lucky winner!

Slow Days, Snow Days The board tells us how they spent their snow days! My snow days consisted of catching up on sleep, doing homework, and cleaning my room...until a transformer blew on a wire by my house and our electricity went out for 6 hours. Haha it was a cold 6 hours and made me realize how it’s near impossible to live without electricity. Moni Gunderson, Member-At-Large

Jillian Daugherty, Parliamentarian

I was so excited when I found that we were having a snow day. These snow days gave me so much time to get caught up on schoolwork and sleep. My snow days were spent inside reading books because the roads were too dangerous to drive on. It sucked not being able to drive anywhere, but I enjoyed the time relaxing. The snow days were an absolute blessing, and thank you very much Elsa - stay cool. Junsung Lee, President

COMMUNITY

My snow days were made up of catching up on sleep, homework, and watching Netflix. I remember just waiting to get that notification that school was cancelled, so I could drop my pen and procrastinate my homework for the next day. (Just kidding!) After constantly having to do work, it was nice to have a break and just relax and watch Netflix.

Electornic Recycling Event

HONOR

by Andrew Nguyen On Feb. 21st, some of my fellow recyclers and I joined the Fort Worth Sierra Club and Paschal Key Club in an annual electronic recycling event aimed at raising environmental awareness. The Sierra Club hosted the event at Paschal, and we collected electronics to be recycled from more than thirty people within a three hour time period. Club members spent the morning lifting old box-shaped televisions sets and dysfunctional typewriters out of cars and sorting them into boxes. In a way, the event was lucrative; the Sierra Club collected more recycling this year and managed to spread the news on the importance of recycling. This in turn had me thinking; what position does recycling have at Paschal as a whole? As the president of Recycling Club, a club I know has been up and running for quite a while, I oversee the collection of recycling from classrooms all over the school. On Wednesdays and Thursdays a small group of volunteers join me in going to sections of the school picking up bins of paper. Although it is a job that becomes mundane quickly, I’ve worked this year to make it a job that goes as quickly as possible. Members are only responsible for a single section each day they come through and picking up recycling usually only occupies upwards of ten to fifteen minutes. I like to think of Recycling Club as a drop-by kind of group: as in, “drop by and take out some recycling for a bit, have a nice chat, and continue on your day.” As people are become more and more educated on the environmental issues of the current world, ways to reduce, reuse, and recycle materials has become more predominant. Not only does the Recycling Club at Paschal represent a great opportunity for service within Paschal, but it allows the act of recycling to become complacent, an important factor in the environment of tomorrow.

Journey of a Braille Bible Staff Contribution Ever wondered what goes on at St. Paul Lutheran during our Braille bible making projects? Read on to discover the journey of a Braille bible coming together. 1) The individuals pages start here, where the metal stamped Braille sheets are loaded with blank sheets of paper.

4) When 10 stacks are compiled in the book binder, we're done with one book! The bible is complete after numerous books are added.

3) The stamped sheets are then handed over to the book compiler, who feeds them through the book binder.

"Knowing that I am making something that will help someone learn to read or finally be able to read something vital to their faith is such a great feeling. Out of all the service projects I've been to for Key Club, I feel confident in saying that Braille has felt the most significant and has had a profound impact on the most people." -Katie Hyry

2) Each stack of metal sheets is 10 pages, and each book is made of 10 of stacks. The metal sheets are fed through this compressor, which stamp the blank sheets of paper with the Braille markings.

Steel City Pops Social! by Sarika Sabnis Key Clubbers decided to spend their Valentine’s Day-Eve together at Steel City Pops in downtown Fort Worth. The popsicle joint is one of the newest additions to West 7th St., so we Key Clubbers decided to try it out. Thanks to the constantly fluctuating weather here in Fort Worth, we got lucky with a mild evening temperature. It was the perfect evening popsicle atmosphere. We even got to see some of our fellow Paschal Panthers who worked at Steel City Pops. And what’s more – we found out that members from the Division 1S board were also in downtown that day! As we walked around the lively atmosphere, we suddenly spotted a few high schoolers who looked familiar. In the dim light, it was hard to make out their faces, but we soon realized it was none other than our LTG, An Bui! An and a few other North Crowley members were having a social that day as well. We met up with them and were able to turn our chapter social into an inter-club event! Who knew we’d be fortuitous enough to cross paths with another Key Club? Socials are a great way to boost morale and bond with members in your Key Club. When you incorporate other schools, you get a double dose of friends! The best times to have socials are after service projects, because everyone is in one place, and carpooling is a piece of cake. You should also go out and explore new places. There are so many hidden treasures in your city waiting to be tried. So go forth, grab at least 5 of your Key Club buddies, and have a social!
