EASTER EGG STUFFIN’ CHLOE UNDERWOOD Our Key Club had the opportunity to serve TCU right before Easter. We stuffed eggs with candy for the Easter egg hunt. It was a lot of fun and we got free candy!

~A new president~

I am so excited for my year as president. We have a great club and next year the board and I plan to make it even better. Next year I imagine the room having only standing room because there are so many members we don’t even have enough seats. I also want to make the meetings more interactive and enjoyable to sit through so early in the morning. By the time school starts I am trying to have the website up and running with the ability for members to sign up for service events and check their hours online. I’m very grateful for the opportunity to better our community while strengthening our club at the same time. Your President, Katie

A FIRST DCON EXPERIENCE MONI GUNDERSON My first DCON experience was unforgettable. It was incredible to see so many students that are passionate about service. From the forums to the dance to the dinners, every bit was amazing. It was such an awesome experience and I will continue to go throughout my high school years!

A LAST DCON EXPERIENCE RYAN YANNEY

2013 DCON was the highlight of my Key Club senior year! I enjoyed it so much. I got to spend the weekend with my friends from my school and from other schools, who are all about service. The weekend was informative, thrilling, and memorable. This Tex-Ok Key Club District Convention was a great ending to my Key Club senior year, and a great motivator to be active in my community after Key Club.

RELAY FOR LIFE SARIKA SABNIS

I’ve been doing Relay for Life for about four years now and it’s a really great event! To see so many individuals, who are essentially strangers to each other, come together and support others who have been affected by cancer in some way is a really exciting experience. I can’t wait to start a team for Paschal next year so we can ALL celebrate, remember, and fight back!

One Last Note "Hey would your mom be able to give my brother and me a ride to this thing called Braille Bibles?” This one question impacted my life in a way that I could have never imagined. At the time, when I was just a newly turned fifteen -year old, Key Club had no meaning to me. I didn’t understand what it was, it’s purpose, or why people joined it. When I went to my first key club event, a Braille Bibles on a hot summer day, I immediately felt immense joy knowing that what I was doing was helping to make a difference in someone’s life. I was also surprised at how fun Braille Bibles was. I was surrounded by smart, caring, and hilarious people, and we were all having a good time. Going to this first Braille, sparked a desire in me to continue helping others and to become more involved in Key Club. Key Club has given me some of the best times of my high school career. One of my favorite moments was when we were at District Convention my junior year. My beloved dog and best friend of eight years passed away the day before DCON. I had never felt so much pain and grief in my entire life. I originally did not want to attend the convention, but I am so glad I went. This amazing organization and the even more amazing people who are a part of it, were able to bring me up from my saddest state to one of my happiest in just a day. I have a vivid memory of us showing off our moves while in a circle at the dance. I was ecstatic to be surrounded by people who were ambitious and compassionate, but at the same time so carefree that they danced in whatever embarrassing way they could. I am extremely grateful to all my key clubbers who were there that night, and who have been there for me these past three years. I could write pages and pages about Key Club, but I won’t. In short, my experiences as a leader working with stubbornly passionate people who come from different backgrounds have been humbling processes, but have also taught me more about myself, my ability to do hard work, and my perseverance. I want to thank you all for making me your president of 2012-2013. I hope I have served you as well as you have served me. -Aashna Bhatia
