NEIGHBORHOOD UNIVERSITY EVENT ABBEY JACKSON

The purpose of this event is to educate the people of Fort Worth on various ways to improve their neighborhoods. The Neighborhood Education Office works directly with residents in the community, providing education on City services, as well as support for neighborhood associations. Paschal Key Club's job was to assist the office in setting up/breaking down the event as well as taking photographs of the different presentations, attendees, and booths. I really enjoyed working at this event and with the city of Fort Worth. I met a lot of great people and learned about ways to improve my neighborhood. I'm excited for the next opportunity to volunteer for Neighborhood University!

PRESIDENT’S NOTE Yay for back to school! I am looking forward to a great year with Paschal Key Club and I can’t wait to see what great service we can help with. Our main goal this year is to boost membership and influence members of the club and the community to be passionate about service. This year, our club will reach new heights it has never been to before. Let’s go Key Club!! Your President, Katie Kroll

SHOPPING FOR A CAUSE PAGE TROTTER

The moment I met Maria and her brother Francisco, two of many kids who came to Sears to shop for back-to-school attire with the help of volunteers and a provided gift card, I knew that this Sears Shopping Event would be a good one. As the three of us strolled through the aisles, on the lookout for uniform clothes, I learned about their school and home lives and relayed my own experiences with them. With much help from Francisco, we kept track of our expenses as we went along and watched while Maria displayed many school outfits, including jumpers, skirts, jeans, and sweaters. The look on her face was priceless. Bags filled and spirits up, we arrived at the checkout with our Sears gift card, only to find out that we had fifty dollars left to spend! Yeah, it was a good day.

A NEW YEAR, A NEW START JANET DIAZ

Yay Key Club! The school year has begun, and Key Club kicked it off by going back to school shopping with kids from local elementary schools. It was nice helping children pick clothes to prepare them for a successful school year. What a great way to start the year by helping others!

I am thrilled to see familiar faces, and hopefully see new ones. I joined Key Club my sophomore year and I can say that that was a big mistake. I missed out on an entire year of excitement! Key Club helps you meet new people and gain experience through the different service we do. That is why I encourage all current members to recruit their friends to join Paschal’s Key Club. The service projects we help with such as Braille Bibles, Cowtown, Agape, and Parade of Lights are always things to look forward to. The best part of it is that after countless hours of service, the Paschal Key Club joins other Key Clubs at District Convention. That’s definitely something to look forward to!

“If you want to be an official Key Club member, hit me up with $15.”

ADVERTISING AT ITS BEST JUNSUNG LEE AND SARIKA SABNIS

In light of the new school year, and excitingly delightful new prospects about our 2013-2014 Key Club year, we decided to have a social while making some pretty rad posters. Thus, it was deemed, “Poster Making Social”! We had a lot of fun congregating together and making some posters for our club – it is never a bad time to rally more support and participation! Even though there were less of us present at this social than others, due to everyone else’s summer schedules, we still achieved quite a lot, and we manage to cease the fun from dying down. This time around, we were guided by our benevolent and creative Advertising Committee Head, Sarika Sabnis. She did a really great job of dictating the style and giving everyone good, inspiring ideas about how to make the posters really pop and grab people’s attention. Everyone who participated in this social worked really hard and well, and everyone brought his/her ideas to the table, so we were able to start working and brainstorming quickly and effectively. We came up with great, classic phrases, such as “Key Club holds to KEYS to service!” or my personal favorite, “If you care about humanity and serving your community, you will join Key Club.” I think my favorite part was seeing how well everyone’s posters ended up turning out. Moni and Page’s posters looked wonderful, as did Katie’s and Sarika’s. And even though my handwriting isn’t the best (as was so kindly pointed out to me by all the girls), I still helped everyone else color in their letters, and give stylistic opinions to improve the posters. All in all, it was a successful, sociable, and fun social! I am looking forward to a truly awesome year for our Key Club.
