FOOD BANKIN’ EILEEN MADRIGAL

At the Tarrant Area Food Bank, our job was to pack boxes of 40 pounds of food to give to those who need it. It was very fun and the Key Clubbers worked alongside North Crowley students to fill these boxes. Many of us even found ourselves craving the food we were packing. Together we easily finished a palette of boxes in the first hour. Overall it was a very fun and fulfilling experience!

PRESIDENT’S NOTE This is my last President’s Note; it's sad but exciting to start another chapter in my life. I will be attending Oklahoma State University in the fall to study Pre-Med and then will go on to medical school. I have enjoyed so much leading this club and all the great experiences that came with it. I'm sad to leave it but so excited to see what all can happen under new leadership and new students next year with the incoming freshmen. We have done such great service this year throughout our community and I am so proud of our club. We have DCON to look forward to at the end of this month with lots of future officers going. I feel very confident that the club will be left in outstanding hands. As we say good-bye to our seniors, let's look ahead to all the great service that can be done!

Your President, Katie Kroll

SENIOR CELEBRATION GARAGE SALE SUE YOUN OH

The crisp, cool air of the morning greeted me upon my arrival at the Senior Celebration Garage Sale. This event was to fundraise for the Senior Celebration at the end of every year, seeing that our school, and all of FWISD, is on such a tight budget. I served for just one shift, from 9:30 to 11:30, and thoroughly enjoyed all of it. Walking around to be available for assistance, I witnessed an eclectic array of items on sale; from couches to typewriters, board games to kitchenware,

and a treadmill to a pair of boots, it seemed that nothing had been left out! I was also tempted several times by quaint and interesting goods, and ended up buying one thing before I left. Many people walked in with some cash, and left with hands full of items that caught their eyes. Hopefully, the seniors will have a marvelous celebration with the money we raised this year.

SWEETEST SOCIAL YET ALI THORBURN

On the Saturday before Spring Break, we went to serve at the Tarrant Area Food Bank. But afterwards, we drove five minutes to get to Sweet Sammie’s for a social. There were also several guests that accompanied our club members. After working so hard at the food bank, it was nice to cool down and just be able to socialize. Besides the ice cream, it was great bonding with other Key Club members: those that I already knew, and those that I hadn’t. It was a very rewarding experience because it started Spring Break off!

“If you want to be an official Key Club member, hit me up with $15.”

SOCIALS

Socials are a great way to get to know your fellow Key Clubbers! Have an idea for one? Contact a member of the board!

DISTRICT CONVENTION! REID YANNEY DCON is coming up later this month, and I couldn’t be more excited! I’m literally counting down the days until we head to Dallas to join all the other Key Clubs from Texas and Oklahoma. I’m only a freshman and I don’t know a whole lot about it, but I have heard so many great things from upperclassmen about how fun the previous conventions have been. There has not been single person that I have talked to that said they didn’t love it. I can’t wait to spend four days and three nights with all my friends and my friends-to-be from all of the other cool, interesting Key Clubs from around the region; not to mention learning all of the cool ideas about community service and how to be a better Key Clubber! I know that with all of the events, activities, and educational workshops, it is sure to be an awesome weekend!

Closing Editor’s Note As Paschal Key Club’s Editor this year, I have had an experience both educational and enjoyable. Comprising twelve newsletters from April 2013 to March 2014, with much improvement along the way, has allowed me to interact more with the club and be more involved in each event that takes place. Though I certainly didn't make it to every service project we participated in, I have seen a piece of every moment, and have been able to read some amazing articles from people who are dedicated to their community. All of these newsletters tell the story of our Key Club’s 2013-2014 school year, along with summer 2013, and give every viewer an opportunity to understand the full impact this club has on everyone it encounters. I want to thank all of you for supporting me with articles, photos, and feedback. Being your Editor has been an honor, and I wish the next clubber to fill the position the best of luck. See you around and keep up the good work! Yours In Service, Page Trotter

MORE INFORMATION WHAT IS KEY CLUB?

DISTRICT CONVENTION

Key Club is an international organization with a mission to serve others. By being a part of Key Club at Paschal, you are given the opportunity to participate in service projects with friends and make a difference in your community. What could be better than helping others while having fun?

District Convention (DCON) is an event for the Texas– Oklahoma District to gather and learn more about Key Club, share experiences from the past year, and make more memories. From forums to banquets to caucuses and voting, DCON is an unforgettable experience. Sophomore Moni Gunderson revisits DCON from her Freshman year, “DCON was an action-packed, incredibly fun, unforgettable weekend experience. I had so much fun learning more about Key Club and meeting new people. I am so happy that I went and I am planning on going every year.” It’s never too early to think about DCON, which occurs around the beginning of April. Ask someone who has been about it, and start getting excited for 2014 District Convention!
