You will Need 8” (203mm) Square Cake 12” (305mm) Square Cake Board 1.5kg Black Sugarpaste 100g White Sugarpaste 200g White Gum Paste PME Concentrated Paste Colours Lime Crush (PC1054), Sunny Yellow (PC1053), Ocean Blue (PC1066) Berry Red (PC1052) & Midnight Black (PC1055) PME Black Brush n fine Pen (PE042) PME Geometric MultiCutters Square Large (GMC143) Square Small (GMC141) Triangle Small (GMC111) Hexagon Small (GMC101) Piping Tube No3 (JEM NZ3) Piping Bag

1

Colour the gum paste bright Green, Yellow, Blue and Red. Roll out the first colour finely and place the large square cutter onto the paste and press down firmly to cut out the shapes.

2

3

Ideally pre-plan the layout of the squares before adding the numbers using the black pen. Attach the squares to the top and sides of the cake using cooled boiled water or petal glue. Trim the cake board with additional coloured squares.

4

5

6

7

8

The dice is made from black gum paste rolled out finely and six small cut out square shapes. Allow to dry. To assemble the dice lay one of the squares flat onto the surface, add a roughly shaped piece of paste and squash the sides and top into position. Allow to dry.

Prepare the snakes using a variety of coloured sugarpastes and decorate with contrasting triangle shapes cut from the coloured gum paste.

Lift up the cutter and use a paint brush to eject any of the shapes that don’t naturally release and fall out. Repeat the technique for the other coloured squares.

Prepare the pieces for the ladders using a brown gum paste coloured using a blend of the red, yellow and black colours. Roll out the paste into fine sausage shapes and cut into the lengths required.

To complete the dice soften a little white sugarpaste with water and pipe the dots using a no 3 piping tube.

Assemble the ladders directly onto the cake and add the snakes, curving and shaping to create an interesting and fun game. Complete the cake by cutting out small coloured counters using the hexagonal cutter and adding the dice.

Using a palette knife coat the top and the sides of the cake with white buttercream.

2

Holding the side scraper firmly against the side of the cake and using an even pressure, turn the cake around whilst keeping the scraper in the same place and position.

Preparation Split and fill the two cakes with buttercream before stacking together and coating with a thin layer of buttercream.

PS42

Dip the tip of the palette knife into the pink colour and randomly touch around the side of the cake.

3

4

5

Melt the Chocolate Candy and place into the squeezy bottle. Pipe the candy around the top of the cake applying extra pressure from time to time to encourage the drizzle effect.

6

7

8

Before the candy has set sprinkle the donuts with the coloured nonpareils and gold strands.

Using the same technique as before, take the side scraper once more around the side of the cake. The top of the cake is decorated in a similar way and can be done either before or after the side coat.

Place the mini donuts onto parchment paper and carefully dip each one in turn into the melted coloured candy before replacing back onto the paper to set. A wooden skewer may help to remove the donuts from the candy.

Decorate the cake with the donuts. Complete the cake by sprinkling additional gold sugar strands around and in between the donuts.

8

Cut out two green circles for the eyes and attach two smaller black circles. To bring the eyes to life place two tiny white sugarpaste balls for the highlights.

9

The paws and tail are made from moulded sugar paste and to create the extra detail on the paws, once more use the leaf shaper drawn through the paste.

10

Airbrush colouring Using the marigold airbrush colour and holding the airbrush approximately 9”-12” away from the cake gently spray a shaded area along the length of the back.
