A Word From Elder Dennis Lubow We All Have A Job To Do
The book of Job is about a short period of testing in Jobs life. The real story is that Job lived a life of 140 Years and what happened in the book of Job was less than a year of that 140. The Book of Job In this book we learn some very fundamental things concerning our life and walk with God. 1. We gain a glimpse into the attitude and nature of evil. 2. We see what gets God's attention 3. We know to live a blessed life. The book of Job starts with introducing us to the main character. Please read below, because what I have to share, it is important for you to see this. 1 Here was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil. 2 And there were born unto him seven sons and three daughters. 3 His substance also was seven thousand sheep, and three thousand camels, and five hundred yoke of oxen, and five hundred she asses, and a very great household; so that this man was the greatest of all the men of the east. 4 And his sons went and feasted in their houses, every one his day; and sent and called for their three sisters to eat and to drink with them. What we learn from these first few scriptures. We see quite a pedigree of this man and concepts 1. He is Perfect, this comes from the Hebrew word that means he was morally pure and one of integrity. 2. Feared God 3. Hated, Avoided and Resisted Evil 4. He was blessed However in these first few scriptures we learn about job, but we don't really know how to be like Job. I submit to you that the next scripture gives us a peek into the nature of Job and is a basic outline of what produced Job and why we have this book in the Bible.
"5 And it was so, when the days of their feasting were gone about, that Job sent and sanctified them, and rose up early in the morning, and offered burnt offerings according to the number of them all: for Job said, It may be that my sons have sinned, and cursed God in their hearts. Thus did Job continually." The Fifth thing we learn about Job is that he was an intercessor for his family. Not once a year. Scripture says, he continually interceded for his family. What came first? The Chicken or the Egg? Did Job learn how to intercede after he was blessed, or was Job an intercessor before he was blessed? I submit to you, that though it is not stated in the text we learn something about the nature of Job by his understanding and motivation in this single scripture. How can a man understand the fallen nature of humanity and holy nature of God to such a degree that he would be motivated to be in a constant position of prayer for his family? I believe he had such a connection, relationship and understanding of God that he was motivated to do what he did. Furthermore, I propose to you that the reason why Job was blessed is because of his connection and understanding with God and from fellowshipping with the source, he became well supplied. The New Testament shows us this principle is universal, "Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things shall be added to you." Job becomes a man that walks with God. Job prays. Job communes. The more he walks with God, the more he reveres the holiness of God. The more he understands the Holiness of God, the more he understands the nature of evil. The more he understands the nature of evil, he perceives the nature of flesh. This understanding develops over time. His walk with God precipitated his blessing. The more sanctified a life he lived, the greater the hedge around his life becomes. The Hedge of Holy living pushed back the work of the destroyer and embraced the blesser. What Happened? Sheep, Oxen, Camels were healthy, had lots of offspring and he became a blessed man. He lived in such a way that what he had was his and could not be touched by what he resisted and stood against. Job had such an understanding in the land of blessing. He understood it was all a very fragile reality. Not because the nature of God, but because of the nature of flesh. He understood that his kids might misspeak and make a mistake and bring evil into his reality. So what began as a relationship with God on a personal level, he became an intercessor... The Intercessor for his family. What follows in the Book of Job is very instructive. The devil has a conversation with God. God points out the righteous life of Job and Satan gives us a clue into the real blessing of living a sanctified life. Read the Words that God said about Job. "And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?" Job 1:8 Think about this. This is a man who does not have the advantage of the New Testament. There has not been a Calvary. There is no New Testament grace. Here is a man living with the blessing, grace and protection of God in another day. God points this man out to Satan and says "Look at my boy." Satan says in response, "The only reason he serves you is because you bless him." God responds, "Oh yeah, Try Him." God knew that Job was Job before he had sheep, oxen and camels. God knew that the nature of Job was not produced by blessing. God knew him before he was blessed. He had such a measure in this man, that he was willing to allow him to be tested and provide an example to the Devil of how Good a righteous man could be. He more so, an example to you and I, how Good we can be if our mind is made up. What transpires over the next few chapters is horrifying. He loses everything except his wife and friends and they serve to be a lingering reminder of what terrible things have transpired. His wife says to him, "Curse God and Die." His friends say to him, "You must be a terrible sinner, repent." For 40 chapters we read of a conversation with Job and his "comforters". However, I want you to notice something. I submit to you, we gain a glimpse into the nature of Job one more time in the last chapter of his book, Job.“And the LORD turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before." His trouble ended and the second dimension of his blessing began when he returned to his role of intercessor. When we cease to be so worried about our own trouble and begin to pray for the trouble in others lives... The Lord will come and work in your life. I submit to you, the reason there is a book called Job in your Bible is because Job was a man who Loved God and loved those he knew to such a degree that he involved himself in the spiritual realities that they would live. When you pray, you are doing something. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6.
You are gaining a revelation of the Holiness of God. you are gaining an understanding of the depravity of flesh. You will begin to sanctify your life by being a person of integrity and morality. You will be pushing back against the work of the Devil, to where he can not touch nor interfere with you or your stuff. God will take notice. You will be blessed.
There is unspeakable blessings for those who will follow the pattern of Job. If you want to be blessed, You have a Job to do. You want your family to be protected You have a Job to do. You want God to take notice of your situation. You have a Job to do. You want the Devil and his influence to be abated? You have a Job to do. Job lived 140 years and experienced nine months of trouble in the middle of his life. His trouble was bookended by blessing. Real thick cover and few pages. We have a JOB to do. 1. Be real, Honest and one of integrity. 2. Sanctify yourself in personal holiness. 3. Resist evil and all of it's influences. 4. Be an Intercessor. If you will do your JOB, Heaven is watching, Hell is held at bay and Blessings are coming your way.
Pastor Sherry’s Ponderings I have been “Pondering” a lot these past few weeks with watching the many changes that are going on with in churches and people lately. I know without a doubt that we must march forward in what God has called you and I to do. We cannot allow the circumstances around us determine who we are and what we know to do in what God has called us to. We will be challenged on every side. The question is, are we willing to take that challenge in “Faith”? Are we willing to allow God to move within our lives and step out of our comfort zone? What we must realize is that we must make sure that we balance our lives with God as the center of that balance. In the Scripture, Peter writes: I Peter 5:6-8 6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time. 7 Casting all your care upon Him; for He careth for you. 8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: If we do not keep our balance...with prayer, fasting, communing with God in our relationship…we will open that door for the enemy to devour us. You and I must realize and take hold of what we know to do that is right. In order to develop a healthy, God centered self image. It will help you to incorporate some of these thoughts and focus on them It will help you to know how to pray for the areas that you may be weak in. We must believe and know who God is and what He has called for you to do…in finding your purpose. Your purpose is magnified in the pages of your bible. He has called each and every one of us to the “Great Commission”. Matthew 28:18-20 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying All power is given unto me in Heaven and Earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen That is everyone’s commission..that once we know and have been shown His truth to reach out to the lost and dying world. We cannot hide our heads and pretend we do not know what to do anymore…it is time to gird up and go forth with the Word of God and preach and teach truth. Knowing that God will go before us and has equipped us to do what He has asked us to do. Be encouraged to know that you are not alone and that we all are walking through this journey together to encourage and lift each other up in our callings. The Word of God is sure, and that is what we can trust in. That God has given us a map to lead us in all His ways! May God richly bless each and every one! Pastor Sherry Ritchie

Breakfast at McDonald's
This is a good story and is true, please read it all the way through until the end! (After the story, there are some very interesting facts!): I am a mother of three (ages 14, 12, 3) and have recently completed my college degree. The last class I had to take was Sociology. The teacher was absolutely inspiring with the qualities that I wish every human being had been graced with. Her last project of the term was called, 'Smile.' The class was asked to go out and smile at three people and document their reactions. I am a very friendly person and always smile at everyone and say hello anyway. So, I thought this would be a piece of cake, literally..... Soon after we were assigned the project, my husband, youngest son, and I went out to McDonald's one crisp March morning. It was just our way of sharing special playtime with our son. We were standing in line, waiting to be served, when all of a sudden everyone around us began to back away, and then even my husband did. I did not move an inch... an overwhelming feeling of panic welled up inside of me as I turned to see why they had moved. As I turned around I smelled a horrible 'dirty body' smell, and there standing behind me were two poor homeless men. As I looked down at the short gentleman, close to me, he was 'smiling' His beautiful sky blue eyes were full of God's Light as he searched for acceptance. He said, 'Good day' as he counted the few coins he had been clutching.. The second man fumbled with his hands as he stood behind his friend. I realized the second man was mentally challenged and the blue-eyed gentleman was his salvation..... I held my tears as I stood there with them. The young lady at the counter asked him what they wanted. He said, 'Coffee is all Miss' because that was all they could afford.. (If they wanted to sit in the restaurant and warm up, they had to buy something.. He just wanted to be warm). Then I really felt it - the compulsion was so great I almost reached out and embraced the little man with the blue eyes. That is when I noticed all eyes in the restaurant were set on me, judging my every action I smiled and asked the young lady behind the counter to give me two more breakfast meals on a separate tray. I then walked around the corner to the table that the men had chosen as a resting spot. I put the tray on the table and laid my hand on the blue-eyed gentleman's cold hand. He looked up at me, with tears in his eyes, and said, 'Thank you.' I leaned over, began to pat his hand and said, 'I did not do this for you. God is here working through me to give you hope.' I started to cry as I walked away to join my husband and son. When I sat down my husband smiled at me and said, 'That is why God gave you to me, Honey, to give me hope..' We held hands for a moment and at that time, we knew that only because of the Grace that we had been given were we able to give. We are not church goers, but we are believers.....That day showed me the pure Light of God's sweet love. I returned to college, on the last evening of class, with this story in hand. I turned in 'my project' and the instructor read it. Then she looked up at me and said, 'Can I share this?' I slowly nodded as she got the attention of the class. She began to read and that is when I knew that we as human beings and being part of God share this need to heal people and to be healed. In my own way I had touched the people at McDonald's, my son,the instructor, and every soul that shared the classroom on the last night I spent as a college student. I graduated with one of the biggest lessons I would ever learn: UNCONDITIONAL ACCEPTANCE. Much love and compassion is sent to each and every person who may read this and learn how to LOVE PEOPLE AND USE THINGS NOT LOVE THINGS AND USE PEOPLE.
