EXPERIENCE THE BEST FLYFISHING IN ARGENTINA Experience the best all-inclusive flyfishing trips in Argentina with Patagonia River Guides (PRG). Guests of PRG enjoy the most comprehensive fishing programs ever designed in South America and can choose from over ten different lodges in three distinct regions. Every trip designed by PRG is customized according to the angler’s desires and trips as short as three days or as long as three weeks are easily executed. PRG’s programs are all about fishing but guests find that much more is awaiting them in Patagonia including a unique blend of inspiring waters, varied fishing, beautiful scenery, interesting culture, lasting friendships, and unrivaled service. There are few places in the world where you can enjoy the diversity and quality of fishing offered in Patagonia, but careful planning and execution are critical to getting the most out of your trip - PRG excels at both. PRG’s philosophy to fishing is straightforward: fish the best rivers, at the best times, with the best guides. On any given day, PRG’s guests could find themselves wading small freestones or spring creeks, floating bigger rivers, sight fishing in gin-clear water, or even spending a day in search of fish over ten pounds on area still waters. Fish size and numbers depend on the type of water and the angler’s skill level, but we are confident that the quality, diversity and unparalleled beauty of our fisheries will not disappoint. Since we have so many options, extended stays are recommended in order to see and experience as much as possible in one, two, or all three of our distinct regions.

FISH WITH ARGENTINA’S BEST GUIDES PRG is American owned and operated by Rance Rathie and Travis Smith. Rance and Travis are born and bred flyfishermen who have been guiding anglers in Montana since their teens. Their passion for fishing and guiding ultimately led them to Argentina where they saw a unique opportunity to apply their extensive knowledge and expertise to build the most comprehensive and professional flyfishing operation in Patagonia. Over the last fourteen seasons, they’ve cultivated a staff of Argentine employees, guides and managers that is unmatched in terms of experience, professionalism and passion. As long-time professional guides, Rance and Travis understand that a good guide can often be the difference between an average trip and the trip of a lifetime, which is why they take great care in maintaining the best guide staff in the region. Without exception, PRG’s guides are talented professionals, excellent and enthusiastic teachers, passionate fishermen and expert oarsmen. Apart from their extensive fishing skills, they also enjoy sharing their local knowledge of flora, fauna, culture and history.

PRG is extremely well equipped to handle the ultimate flyfishing adventure outfitting guests with state-of-the art equipment, tackle, and gear. PRG is proud to supply each guest with Simms waders and boots, Winston rods, and Hatch reels - perfectly loaded with new lines - at no additional charge thanks to our strategic partnerships with these industry leading companies. Our goal is to maximize the enjoyment, comfort and safety of our guests, so if they don’t have what they need, we are fully prepared and pleased to provide it. Two anglers share a boat on float trips but each angler has their own guide on walk-wade trips ensuring success for each fisherman. Every guide is furnished by PRG with leaders, tippet, and literally thousands of flies for guests use free of charge. It is our philosophy that guests should maximize their fishing experiences and not have to buy hundreds of dollars of flies or anything else that might not get used. PRG guides in all regions are furnished with the “PRG key” that unlocks hundreds of miles of private access waters. Access - and lots of it - is key to providing the best fishing experiences and we’re proud that our guests are not only able to fish the best rivers, but able to fish the best parts of the best rivers. Lastly, PRG guides and staff love their jobs and work together as a team combining hundreds of years of experience so that each and every guest can enjoy the ultimate flyfishing experience.

RIO PICO IS THE MOST WILD OF THE PRG PROGRAMS The Rio Pico Valley was settled by Florintino Solis and his two wives in the late 1800’s. They were a fertile trio producing twenty-six children together staking claim to almost the entire valley. Today, almost everyone in the area shares the same last name and since it is traditional to introduce yourself by your last name in Rio Pico, it is almost certain that the name behind the weather-burnt face and strong handshake will be Solis. Ranching is still king in Rio Pico and even though pavement has almost reached the settlement, not much has changed in the last fifty years with cattle rustling, rodeos known as “jinetadas”, and wild boar hunting with a knife being the normal pastimes. Everything in Rio Pico is just about same as it was back in the early 1900’s when a few amigos of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid were strung up for “interfering” with one of Florintino’s wives. Wide-open spaces with the occasional gaucho and condor overhead are still about all guests of PRG will see in the area. It is an angler’s paradise with little more than livestock, trout streams, and the Andes Mountains as a backdrop. If you are ready for an adventure, contact us today as space at Tres Valles Lodge is limited.

PRG NORTH & THE PRIVATE ESTANCIA PROGRAM
Guests of PRG North enjoy the same signature service, state-of-the-art equipment, and professional guides as our PRG Lodge at Trevelin operation but from the classic large estancias around San Martín and Junín de los Andes in northern Patagonia. These estancias, or large working ranches, offer PRG and their guests first-class lodging, delicious food and wonderful service as well as private access to some of northern Patagonia’s best waters. It is an excellent way to get a unique glimpse into Argentine lifestyle and culture at its best. Incredible rivers such as the Chimehuín, Aluminé, Collón Cura, Malleo, Traful and the Filo Hua Hum offer guests some of the finest dry fly fishing in all of South America. Hatches are prevalent, including world-renowned minnow runs, pancora crabs, giant yellow mayflies and willow worms as well as all the classic mayfly and caddis hatches similar to the ones in the Western US. Miles and miles of productive rivers and wide-open spaces await, and guests can choose to float and fish from PRG North’s RO drift boats or wade on private access. Drives can
be as short as five minutes and guests can often return to the lodge for lunch and a short break before fishing the evening hatch. Like all of PRG’s programs, PRG North provides the finest equipment, gear, tackle, guides, assistant guides and service that have set us apart for more than ten years. PRG North guests normally stay on beautiful Argentine estancias such as San Huberto, Huechahue, Cerro de los Pinos and Quemquemtreu. These large estancias all have fishing lodges on site and offer guests a distinct experience while upholding a common commitment to high standards in terms of accommodation, gastronomy and service in addition to offering miles of private access to area rivers. Due to the unique nature of each estancia, we recommend an itinerary that combines at least two or three different locales to get the most out of your visit. For those who are a little more adventurous, PRG North offers comfortable multi-day camping trips on wilderness rivers, which are unique experiences in and of themselves.

san huberto The San Huberto Lodge is the best lodging choice when fishing the legendary Malleo River. This beautiful lodge was completely renovated in 1999 and has room for up to sixteen guests but with a maximum of only twelve anglers at a time. The service is superb as are the meals. The lodge includes an in-house bar, hot tub, masseuse, a “quincho” (for the Sunday “asados”), and all the amenities a fine fishing lodge should have. San Huberto is a household name when speaking of flyfishing in Patagonia primarily because the Malleo is known to have the best hatches of any river in Argentina. Mayflies, caddis, stoneflies, and terrestrials can be found at different times throughout the season and PRG North’s guides have all the right flies and “know how” to put you on the fish. From San Huberto, guests have access to over twenty miles of incredible wade fishing and private access to some of the best sections of both the Malleo and Huaca Mamuil Creek - both famous for their dry-fly fishing. Space is always limited so booking in advance is a must.

Estancia Tres Lagos is a privately owned cattle ranch located forty-miles southwest of San Martín de los Andes in Lanín National Park. The Fernandez Beschtedt family homesteaded the area and have been running the ranch for several generations. Guests will immediately feel the history as they enter the main house. The estancia offers some of the most spectacular scenery in northern Patagonia and the estancia extends eighty thousand acres of land. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are first class and are enjoyed at the main house. Three beautiful cabins surround the main house and overlook Filo Hua Hum Lake. Waking up in the morning and looking out the window provides an unforgettable moment. Three lakes surround the estancia: Lago Falkner, Lago Nuevo and Lago Filo Hua Hum. The Filo Hua Hum River flows from the Lago Nuevo to Lago Filo Hua Hum for about eight miles though the property and holds trophy brown trout - some resident and some that migrate between lakes. It is an ideal location for those looking for a small lodge off the beaten path.

arroyo verde Estancia Arroyo Verde sits on one of the most magical valleys in Argentina and alongside the gin-clear Trafúl River. The main house accommodates up to ten guests, while a separate cabin overlooking the Lago Traful provides guests with a unique private experience. The service at Arroyo Verde is truly deluxe and the lodging elegant. This location is very popular with guests traveling with non-fishing spouses offering additional activities such as horseback riding, hiking, and bird watching. The only way to fish the best parts of the Trafúl River is to stay at Arroyo Verde, containing just over ten miles of river. Trophy fish over ten pounds can be landed on the Trafúl, but anglers have caution as fish can also be very difficult handing out just as many “skunks” as trophies. If you are looking for a very private and elegant experience, Arroyo Verde might be the perfect choice. Anglers should be skilled and ready for easy to challenging wade fishing with incredible sight fishing opportunities.

Hunting wild quail is a fulfilling experience and there are few places one can still find the numbers of wild quail as patagonia. Besides being numerous, with coveys up to one hundred birds, our California Quail are quick to fly and very challenging. A good shot should expect between six and dozen quail per day and most shoot over a box of shells per outing. PRG provides Beretta Urika 391 Automatic 20-gauge shotguns and shells for $100 per day per gun. 7 nights | 6 days Cast and Blast trips start at $5,950 per week. Please contact us today for complete prices of red stag hunts and for more information.
