T
his magazine is a compilation of the students’ works from Digital Imaging (ART84), Fall 2016. The Fire Issue is an homage to the Millennial generation hence the over usage of emoji’s. Our cover design, a pattern of Poke balls, highlights the video game phenomenon that occurred earlier in the year, Pokémon Go, as well as the usage of Adobe Photoshop as a means of creating images that defy reality (and sometimes gravity). We had our wonderful Professor Patricia Cazorla to thank for not only teaching us how to utilize key tools within Adobe Photoshop but also challenging us, and inspiring us to create works of art that turned out being straight up FIRE. The colloquialism usage is also an homage to our generation. We only saw it fitting that it ended up becoming the title of our edition for this project. We hope you enjoy the content that you are about to witness and appreciate the time and effort put into our projects and this magazine issue. WARNING: THE CONTENT YOU ARE ABOUT TO WITNESS IS SO BLAZING HOT THAT YOU MAY BE REQUIRED TO WEAR PROTECTIVE GEAR IN ORDER TO MAINTAIN YOUR EYESIGHT.

rt is my passion. Since I was five years old when I first started a school life in elementary school where I took the books that the teacher gave me and start tracing the images on an empty piece of paper and then start coloring it. That was the beginning of my art and while the time passed and I kept practicing until I started drawing just by looking at the objects and I realize that I was liking the shape of buildings and I drew stuff related to geometrical shapes. It was clear for me then that what I wanted to be was an architect and that was my purpose to keep myself in the track of art and keep practicing and studying.
Andy Bravo
I
am yet another forgetful artist in a world full of creative minds. I’m just another guy who draws and paints and no one cares that I can pretend to be an artist, but I chose to be an artist to be unique and to stand out from others and become apart of the artist world and join the creative mind artist that inspire me to draw and sketch. I have a passion for a lot of things, but my two favorite passions are cooking and video games. Every time when I have nothing to do, I either pick up a pan and make exotic food, or play some Pokemon Moon. My message is to keep pushing yourself forward and be better than yourself, ignore others that make you feel bad about your work just because they’re jerks. My type of audience are those gamers/anime/ hippsters that like to be cravtive, but just feel unsure about their own work or about their skills. I would inspire them to love their own work that other people can’t copy and be happy that they’re creative.

y name is Eddie Castro and I make art for a living. I began creating art really young but I gave up on myself because I didn’t think I was good. In high school I found graffiti and it lit a fire to where all I wanted to do was to make murals with amazing letters and beautiful colors. After years of practicing I would try to sell my art work on my own but it was pretty hard. I began questioning myself, what am I doing this for? How will I survive as just a graffiti artist? Both my parents pressuring me about what I’m going to do with my life but I knew for a fact all I wanted was to create art. I then began exploring my options and was told by many people I should try tattooing. I found an apprenticeship and basically had to start over and re-learn how to draw. It’s been 4 years of tattooing now and it’s been a crazy ride. The art I make has all my history embedded to it. My dreams, my failures, my achievements, my heart breaks, my expectations, my disappointments and willing to overcome anything pushes me to create beautiful work for the world to experience. Any questions? Reach me at radism55@gmail.com or @Radicaltattoos on Instagram.

What project are you most proud of?
I’m most proud of my “Bedazzled” composite, it took several hours to complete. It’s the project I’ve worked longest on so far, but it is also has personal significance to me. Who would you love to collaborate with?
I think Eddie Castro and I would make some really dope stuff together. I keep telling him to send me designs so I can create his business card and branding stuff but he’s slacking on me! :) What’s the best thing you’ve seen online/ in genral recently?
Honestly, it has nothing to do with art, but the Joe Biden & President Obama memes since Trump was elected are hilarious. How did you end up doing what you do?
I’ve always been an artist, since a small child but as I got older my interests definitely changed. The first time I used Adobe Illustrator was the summer before I started High School at a non-profit that was in my old neighborhood. It pretty much just took off from there. I now know that Graphic Design is my passion & I wouldn’t want to be doing anything else really. Except eating chocolate. Maybe. What are you currently lisening to?
Solange dropped a new album recently and Black social media has been going ham for it so I’ve been checking it out. It’s pretty good. But I’ve been mostly listening to the “Love, Sex & Water” playlist on Spotify. What would you like to see in the future “The Fire Issue” Art84 Magazine?
THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE ISSUE!!! But I hope Prof. C can keep the magazine project going for Art 84 in the forthcoming semesters!

Emilio Lopez
What project are you most proud of?
The project I am most proud of will have to be the logo project. The reason is because this project felt more personal to me since the assignment was more of a reflection of yourself.
Who would you love to collaborate with?
Anyone in the world? I would have to choose Kaws.
What’s the best thing you’ve seen online/ in genral recently?
I seen an article on Mike Winkelmann who makes science fiction landscapes which are amazing. Also this artist named Victoria Siemer (@witchoria on instagram), she’s an influence to me. How did you end up doing what you do?
Everything that I have become has been because of a skateboard. Its crazy but yeah I began doing photography because of it, which later helped find my love for graphic art. What are you currently lisening to?
Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon album, an all time favorite.

Cesareo Mieses
I
am a artist and a singer. My passions are drawing, singing, and writing. I come from a house full of artists and musicians so it just passed on to me. I have been drawing ever since I was little and have loved it ever since. My art is usually centered around anime and video games. I want to be an artist to prove myself to the world that anybody can be a artist. I would inspire people with my art through real life choices and nature. I love being a drawer and I want to be a artist in the future...
NaAsia Mills
M
y passion for the art world stems from the comic book world. I love to draw from my head and be seen in a heroic light while making others aware of my struggles. I use photoshop to create layers of depth of color and shapes to get the point across while drawing inspiration from other Artist. I want people to see the passion I have to be alive and the passion I have being a black woman, I want people to understand my struggle and my genius. I want YOU to see me.
Jafet Navarro
I
was originally into the fine arts, but I always wanted to transition into digital art. I wasn’t familiar with any of these programs and tools. However, I managed to figure it out and keep on going with my work. I always have made art that tells a story. Sometimes it’s easy to see what I’m trying to portray in my work, and sometimes you have to look deeper into it. I was always influenced by many artists. Such as George Condo, Hajime Sorayama, and KAWS. Not to mention my heavy influence from musical artists. I’ve always found artists like Kid Cudi, Pharrell, Q-Tip, and Kanye to be really good sources of inspiration. You will see some sort of musical inspiration in my works. I have said various times that the best part of making music is the album artwork and music videos behind it. I hope you guys like my pieces and I hope to keep on creating more works.
Kyle O’Neil
M
y name is Kyle O’Neil and I am currently a student at Bronx Community College. I am a graphic design student major. I went to high school at Bronx High School for the Visual Arts. I have designed for side businesses.
Ranjae Pinnock
A
rt is my passion. I live for drawing and it’s easily my most time consuming activity. My program of choice is Clip Studio Paint, a drawing application similar to Photoshop that’s easier to handle. My techniques vary from picture to picture but I’d say my secret lies in the shortcuts I’ve assigned to my graphic tablet. With them I’m able to undo and eyedrop on the fly. One constant technique I use, is using a Multiply layer to get the color temperature I’m looking for. The message of my art is just to make people happy. A lot of people say I make them feel better about themselves when my characters share the same body types or interests in my comics. I cover a wide variety of people with my art but I generally appeal to teens and young adults interested in the anime/manga genre.

Ribert Rodriguez
M
y name is Ribert Rodriguez and I am a 20-year-old Digital Arts major. I am going to transfer to City Tech after I graduate from Bronx Community College to pursue web design. Taking art 84 has been a great learning experience because it has allowed me to expand my creativity and knowledge about working with Photoshop. My favorite project was the book cover design, it came out pretty good and everyone in class liked it. It has a good composition and it really convey the message. I look forward to learn even more and apply it in my career as a web designer.
Shane Trobar
What project are you most proud of?
The project I am proudest of is the Poke ball design I made at the beginning of the semester. It’s simple, but it shows my love and interest in Pokémon. Who would you love to collaborate with?
I would love to collaborate with anyone, as long as they’re nice and knows what to do.
What’s the best thing you’ve seen online/ in genral recently?
The biggest thing I’ve seen right now is Pokémon Sun and Moon. It’s a really great game from what I’ve heard. How did you end up doing what you do?
I ended where I am today because of my love for video games. I was always stuck in my house because of my overprotected grandmother. As a result, I had nothing else to do but play video games. I more I played them, the more fascinated I became, so my imagination grew and hopefully I’ll be able to my own video games. What are you currently lisening to?
Currently I’m listening to some classic video game music. Some from Sonic, Fire Emblem, etc. What would you like to see in the future “The Fire Issue” Art84 Magazine?
I would like to see some video game related topics in The Fire issue magazine.
