Fertility Associates has excellent success rates – that are well above the American average, embryo for embryo. We compare our pregnancy rates with clinics in the USA, as they have some of the highest pregnancy rates internationally and clinic results are published with enough detail to allow accurate comparison. For example, at Fertility Associates a woman aged 35 years has a 40% chance of having a child per embryo, compared to an average of 33% for women in the same age group from the USA.

Alex has a degree in Chemical Engineering, an MBA from IMD (Institute for Management Development) in Switzerland and a Graduate Certificate in Reproductive Medicine through the University of New South Wales.

MANY DIFFERENT FACTORS CAN AFFECT FERTILITY Age, weight, general health and past medical conditions can all impact fertility. However many couples will experience unexplained infertility, which though difficult to comprehend, can have good outcomes with fertility treatments. The sooner you understand your own chances, the sooner you can achieve a healthy baby.

AGE The Biological Clock is the most important factor when having a baby. Young women without fertility problems have a about a 25% chance per month of having a baby naturally if they try at the right time of the month. This falls to about 12% at age 37 and 5% at 42.

UNDERSTANDING FERTILITY 了解生育机率
IN VITRO FERTILISATION (IVF) Many causes of infertility can be successfully treated with IVF – male infertility, tubal damage, endometriosis, ovulation problems and unexplained infertility. IVF treatment creates the optimal conditions required to give eggs and sperm the highest chance of getting together to create a pregnancy.

At Fertility Associates, we’re committed to bringing world leading fertility technology to New Zealand to ensure our patients have the best chance of having a healthy baby.
(IVF) 1. First, medication is taken to increase the number of eggs available – this is called ovary stimulation. 2. Next, the eggs are removed, during a process called egg collection, and sperm is added to the eggs in the lab. Where fertilisation takes place. 3. When IVF includes having the sperm injected directly into the egg, it is called ICSI. 4. The embryologist then selects the embryo they consider has the best chance of a pregnancy, to be transferred into the uterus. 5. Other good quality embryos are frozen for another chance of pregnancy. Because IVF typically makes 6-10 eggs available, younger women have a 40-50% chance of having a baby from a single treatment. This is double the chance of pregnancy that couples with normal fertility have per month.

We will recommend egg donor treatment when:

• A woman has undergone early menopause • Eggs are not fertilising or developing normally • The chance of pregnancy is low because of age-related factors Donor eggs are used during an IVF cycle, with the egg donor undertaking the first stage of the cycle (page 14, steps 1 and 2). It’s common for people who have tried unsuccessfully to have a child by IVF using their own eggs to then consider using donor eggs. We can provide donors through our clinic in Malaysia or with donor eggs from a family member or friend.
