Dear People of God, I pray the engrafted Word of God is stitched in your hearts in such a way that it causes a deeper faith to rise in you and a fire to unapologetically fulfill the will of God for your life on the Earth. Isaiah 6:1-8, reminds us of God’s assignment for Isaiah: “In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of his robe filled the temple. Above him were seraphim, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying. And they were calling to one another: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty. The whole earth is full of his glory.” At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook, and the temple was filled with smoke. “Woe to me!” I cried. “I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the Lord Almighty.” Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar. With it he touched my mouth and said, “See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for.” Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”” Notice at the onset, Isaiah opened this passage on a very somber note. King Uzziah, who was a good king, is now dead. According to God’s promise King Uzziah ruled for fifty-two years and the nation was blessed materially during his reign. Following his death however, it seemed the glory of the Lord was no longer present. Following the death of King Uzziah, the nation of Israel fell into decay. The people were taken captive, prosperity ceased, the people were plagued with depression and famine. It is in this climate that Isaiah did what every person, every city, every state, and every country should do, and that is: enter the temple! In the temple Isaiah sought an audience with God and in these uncertain times we too should follow this pattern. In God’s temple, Isaiah made the discovery that the true king of the nation was not dead, but alive! Hear me people of God, I want you to know, today, in these perilous times, behind these earthly thrones such as the White House, political platforms and scientific theories, is a Heavenly throne which stands supreme. Therefore, we do not put our confidence in man’s understanding, but in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! Because God is still on the throne today, He still hears the prayers of the righteous and answers them. Proverbs 15:29 (AMP) reminds us that “The Lord is far from the wicked, but He hears the prayer of the [consistently] righteous (the upright, in right standing with Him).” Let’s reflect on Proverbs 14:34 which says: “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin condemns any people.” This principle applies to our current status as a nation. America must return to the God who made her prosperous. The New Testament reminds us in 2 Corinthians 7:10 that “Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death.” With all the uncertainty and calamity surrounding our nation only pride and arrogance would prevent her from
exhibiting true repentance. Look at the deteriorating condition of our country: the right to abort babies, sex trafficking, drugs, gang violence, police brutality, mass incarceration, fatherless homes, same sex marriages, the removal of prayer in our schools, and our nation’s original sin of racism. It is clear we have turned our backs on the God that made our nation great. We are parading this massive rebellion in the face of God and in the same breath how can we arrogantly proclaim, “God Bless America?” But fortunately for us there remains a small window of hope. That hope is found in the voice of the Lord. In Psalm 29:1-11, we see “the voice of the Lord,” is stated seven times. David repeatedly referred to God’s voice to amplify the critical importance of yielding to the Lord’s wisdom whose depths is far beyond our own. In His voice we find the peace, direction, and strength we need to navigate these tumultuous times. “A psalm of David. Ascribe to the Lord, you heavenly beings, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength. Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness. The voice of the Lord is over the waters, the God of glory thunders, the Lord thunders over the mighty waters. The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is majestic. The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars, the Lord breaks in pieces the cedars of Lebanon. He makes Lebanon leap like a calf, sirloin like a young wild ox. The voice of the Lord strikes with flashes of lightning. The voice of the Lord shakes the desert; the Lord shakes the Desert of Kadesh. The voice of the Lord twists the oaks and strips the forests bare. And in his temple all cry, “Glory!” The Lord sits enthroned over the flood; the Lord is enthroned as King forever. The Lord gives strength to his people; the Lord blesses his people with peace.” While we are extremely grateful to God to be alive and well, we are deeply disheartened by the devastation occurring in the world around us! Millions are sick and thousands have died. Our healthcare workers and first responders are sacrificing at levels beyond hours on the clock. We have truly entered uncharted territory. But for those of us who trust the true and living God, He promises to hear our prayers and answer them. Those of us who know the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob must not remain silent. Open your mouths and pray as never before! Hold up this nation and the world with heartfelt prayers and intercession on behalf of those who are serving and those who are being served. Ask our God to visit our government and leaders in a supernatural way causing this nation to fully repent and turn back to the God who made her great! Pray in the name of Jesus Christ, stand in faith, and see the salvation of the Lord. Yes, we are in a crisis, but in the end, remember God is faithful and we are people of faith and not fear! In Him,
Bishop Steve Houpe
As the world has been drawn into a season of isolation and uncertainty my heart has been drawn to the power of prayer; the strength we draw from it and the faith it builds in us. It is our direct connection to the throne of Heaven. It is an avenue to grow in knowing who He is and an open door to hearing God’s voice. Simply put, prayer is communing with God. To be successful when praying, there are some rules we must follow. They are… 1. Ask in Faith and “believe” He will provide. God commands us to ask, therefore, you are not outside of the will and plan of God by asking. We are to ask, seek, and find. God will do the rest. (Matthew 7:7-8) 2. Do not apologize but come boldly in prayer. We who are mature believers have free choice over large areas of our lives. We have the power to bind and loose on the earth. (Matthew 18:18) 3. Forgive as God forgives you. “And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses.” (Mark 11:25) 4. Do not pray “to be heard of men” but be sincere in your prayer time alone with God. Remember, God is full of grace and mercy. (Matthew 6:5) 5. Pray in the name of Jesus. Since we are in Christ, one with Him, when we pray in the name of Jesus, we honor Jesus and his Father, Jehovah God. We recognize Jesus’ unique role as Intercessor between God and men. (Philippians 2:9-11) (Hebrews 7:25) 6. Pray and Cherish the Word of God. Jesus reminds us...”If...my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you.” The
Psalmist wrote: “If I had cherished sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened.” Therefore, treasure the Word of Christ; do not cherish iniquity. Pray the Word of God. (John 15:7) (Psalm 66:18) 7. Do not Doubt. Jesus warns why many times we may not be heard: “He who doubts...should not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord. You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures.” (James 1:7) (James 4:3) 8. Believe you received when you pray. This is done by faith as a believer. Live life like you have what you have prayed for. (Mark 11:23) Apply these rules of prayer today. “Teach them to your children so they will have victory in every area of their lives.” (Deuteronomy 11:19) Recently, I came across an article that gave practical ways to pray without ceasing, which God asked us to do in 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18. The article, sums up just how prayer can be a part of our lives all day every day. Begin with gratitude. Start by telling God what you’re thankful for. Prayer doesn’t have to be asking for something; it can simply be thanking Him from your heart for what He has already done. Pray while you wait. Turn your car into a prayer closet. Transform that “wasted” time into something meaningful—pray for the people you expect to encounter that day or the tasks you need to accomplish. Give thanks for your day, for your job, and for the people you love. Count your blessings—because they’re everywhere—and make those minutes count.
Sing a song of praise. Think of prayer being like a radio playing in the background all the times. Make that literal by listening to worship music and as you sing along, offer it to God as your prayer. Give up worrying. We are not meant to worry, and we waste too many minutes doing just that. Next time something weighs heavy on your heart, envision yourself extending it up to God and letting Him hold it for you. Ask Him what your role is and if there is something you need to do; if so, do it. But don’t take back the weight of the worry. Then start thanking God for who He is and what He has already done for you, and you’ll feel the weight lifting off your shoulders as the words come. Stop talking once in awhile. Instead, just listen. The number (or quantity) of words you use in prayer do not matter, because prayer is about God, not about us. Trust that He is your constant companion. Don’t monopolize the dialogue but spend some of your time simply sitting and resting in His presence. And keep in mind that the best conversations are two-sided. As you incorporate mindful prayer into your life, especially during the time of COVID-19, keep in mind these scriptures: Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.- 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. – Ephesians 6:18 Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. – Romans 12:12 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. – Philippians 4:6 Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known. – Jeremiah 33:3
are in a faith-fight: Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. A Prayer for You: Father, we come before Your throne with a grateful heart acknowledging You as the creator of all, Your son Jesus the Christ, and our helper, the Holy Spirit. We make our requests known to You in the name of Jesus. We seek Your face diligently and believe by faith we receive when we prayed. We do not doubt in our hearts, but we acknowledge that Your Word says if we ask, we shall receive. Therefore, today. We declare we are victorious in every area of our lives, in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen. Lastly, I believe this an opportune time for families to get together and celebrate their blessings. Take this time and truly express your gratitude and love for one another. Do not miss the chance to take advantage of this moment in time that we may never have again, a time to love on our families without overwhelming distractions. From my heart,

Now He was telling them a parable to show that at all times they ought to pray and not to lose heart, - Luke 18:1
As we battle COVID-19, we must remember what Paul tells us in Ephesians 6:11-18 (NIV). Paul’s words instruct us just how to prepare for moments just like this; moments which seem out of control in the natural, moments of uncertainty, moments like now, when we

There’s no place more uncomfortable for a believer to be than on the downside of a faith fight. Physical strength being zapped is one thing, but what do you do when the strength that matters most – spiritual strength – seems non-existent? There are lows we experience in this life that Satan tries to convince you are impossible to overcome. He uses the strategy of hopelessness to deceive you into thinking our situation is the worst ever. Along this path, if you are not careful, doubt will begin to creep in. Once it does, there’s no room for faith to remain. This dear friend is the beginning of losing the fight. Being consumed by doubt, in even its smallest measure, is spiritually equivalent to a prizefighter entering the ring blindfolded. Every trying situation in our lives, whether or great or small, is successfully conquered by some measure of faith. Let’s look to the Word. 2 Corinthians 5:7 tells us that “we walk by faith, not by sight.” This means that no matter what you might be going through in life—no matter what, you must focus on trusting in God versus the climate of circumstance. Bad health report? Walk by faith! Sinking in debt? Walk by faith! Family strife, broken heart, financial disaster—WALK. BY. FAITH! Faith isn’t “helpful,” it’s essential! Hebrews 11: 6 says, “And without faith it is IMPOSSIBLE to please Him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who seek Him” (ESV). Why? Why is faith so key in our success as Christians? Think about it. The first step to a relationship with Jesus Christ in and of itself is established first by faith. Accepting Jesus Christ to be Lord and Savior of your heart without ever physically laying eyes on Him is predicated on nothing more than trusting He even exists. That is the greatest display of faith! If Satan can uproot your faith, he can rock the very foundation of your salvation. The moment you begin to doubt that God can save you from a trying situation is the moment that opens the door for you to question your salvation
altogether. At all costs, never lose your faith! As a preemptive measure, focus first on never losing your joy; the Bible says that “the joy of the Lord is your strength” (Nehemiah 8:10). That means even when you face trying times, you clench tightly to optimism. You focus on the bigger picture and purpose to see God’s hand at work on your behalf. Is it always easy? Of course not, but it is always necessary. James 1:2 – 4 says, “Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.” We see from these verses that the trying of your faith through difficult situations ultimately makes you better. How would you know that God is a healer unless you overcame sickness? How would you trust in Him as a Provider unless He moved mightily on your behalf concerning a financially impossible situation? You wouldn’t. You must endure hard times to have the testimony about his goodness. Revelations 12:11 reminds us that the children of God “conquered him [Satan] by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony.” When you have faith in the victory Jesus purchased for you with His blood there is nothing you cannot conquer. And when you share your testimony about how He saved you, healed you, provided for you; others will glean hope from it and draw near to Him as well. Instead of embracing sorrow, embrace God’s plan. No matter how hard your trial may seem, He promises to never place more on your shoulders than you are able to bear (1 Corinthians 10:13). That means He’s confident in your ability to come out on top! You are not a victim of the hard circumstances you endure; you are a victor waiting for “this too” to pass—and it shall!
“One Church, Many Branches is the banner that wraps around the vision of Harvest Church. Harvest Church West Branch in Topeka, Kansas was born in 2010 under the care and leading of Pastor Tony Stanley and his wife Dr. Rita A Rodgers-Stanley. Having been faithfully rooted in much of the history and growth of the Harvest Church Main Campus, Pastor Stanley embraced the mantle of leading a branch ministry and has never looked back. As the leaders of Harvest Church North branch in St. Joseph, MO, Pastor Francho and Mrs. Alicia Redes could not be more excited. Being set in the heart of a college town, Harvest Church North is probably most unique for the predominantly young adult demographic that it draws. The Redes family is ready to bring their youth, experience, and enthusiasm to ministering God’s life-changing Word to the St. Joseph area. Francho Redes was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan and he and his wife spent most of their childhood in the Detroit metropolitan area. Both graduated from Rhema Bible Training College in Broken Arrow, OK. Their tenacity combined with the strength of their 16 years of marriage have made them a true power couple. Together, they are truly embracing the vision of Harvest Church; to change lives by restoring lost and hurting humanity back to our heavenly Father in the hopes of making a significant difference in their lives. All while championing the mission to elevate and nurture families through the Word the God by ministering to the total man; spirit, soul, and body.

The vision God gave Bishop Steve Houpe over 30 years ago, was one that was strategically focused on not only impacting the lives of men, women and families who would become faithful members of Harvest Church, but also those from around the globe who would feel the ministry’s love without ever stepping foot on the Harvest Church campus. Although the recipients may not ever come in contact with Bishop Houpe or the members of Harvest Church, the love that Harvest Church so passionately demonstrates through its faithful support of a multitude of missions and outreaches comprise Harvest Church “We C. Missions of any viable ministry seek to make an impact both locally and internationally in the lives of people by spreading both Christ’s love and His Gospel as commanded in scriptures like: “Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples!” (Psalm 96:3) “For so the Lord has commanded us, saying, “I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.” (Acts 13:47) “And he said to them, “Go into all the world and
proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.” (Matthew 16:15) And finally among many others, Harvest Church’s foundational scripture Luke 10:2 which says, “Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the laborer’s are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth laborer’s into his harvest.” It is because of the faithful and loving financial support of Harvest Church partners and members that a continual outpouring of love can go forth for mission work in this, and other great nations. We offer continued support for mission work for Monrovia, Liberia in West Africa, in Haiti, and digging wells in Kenya. Locally Harvest Church feeds and clothes hundreds of family through our on-site Harvesters food pantry as well as other annual events such as our school supply drive each fall, support of local Angel Tree families during the Christmas season, and our Feed the Harvest community meals where we feed thousands each Thanksgiving.
In connection with Houpe Ministries’ mission work, Bishop Foley Smith and Prophetess Praise Smith of Monrovia, Liberia in West Africa distribute food to over 100 of their members of their ministry, The of Body of Christ Liberia, during their COVID-19 quarantine..

We are living in a time that most of us have never seen with the natural eye; an actual plague sweeping through this land. With it has come the realization that while anyone can be infected, everyone does not experience it the same. There is a disproportionate number of African Americans being infected and dying. This disparity in deaths from COVID-19 for African Americans in the US should not be a surprise. We’re behind the 8 ball on this. We are 40% more likely to die from breast cancer, 52% more likely to die from cervical cancer, and 44% more likely to die from a stroke than a non-Hispanic white person. 11
The reasons are multiple: poverty, racism, lack of access, and lifestyle behaviors. This pandemic, with its staggering infection and death rates for African Americans is yet another indictment of this country’s inability to face its demons for the good of ALL its people. Chicago is currently experiencing a 70% death rate in Blacks with COVID-19 infection when they make up only 30% of the population. Other states such as Louisiana are experiencing rates of more than 70% of deaths African American infected.
I have little hope that anything substantive will change post COVID-19 if we rely solely on the federal government. The change necessary will start at the local level, with local government, in communities through grass root efforts that galvanize around the notion that “all men are created equal and they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights.” Communities that empower people with knowledge to assert greater control over their health and healthcare. Communities that make sure every family has access to live whole food either through personal or community gardens or the old school “huckster man”. Communities that join together to move their bodies, using technology or gathering in churches, parks, gymnasiums or at swimming pools. Communities who embrace a true wellness and a prevention model of health rather than just the traditional diagnose and medicate model. Don’t get me wrong, our current “sick care” system is necessary especially for trauma and other health crisis. It does not however teach us to be well. Or if we have a diagnosis of diabetes, hypertension or heart disease, how to modify our behaviors, thus lowering risk of poor outcomes
to lower incidence of infection in your home, communities and churches. Wash our hands frequently, keep our hands off our faces and wear a mask if you absolutely have to leave home. 3. If the local authorities say no gathering, even if they say you can gather if there are 10 or less people, STAY HOME! It only takes 2 people to infect. 4. By doing this, it is not a question of your faith in God. It is a demonstration of your obedience to authority and the love of Jesus in your heart for others which causes you to prefer them. Let this Resurrection Day be different than any other you have ever experienced remembering that LIFE rose with POWER from the grave!
Jesus is Risen!
Communities that are proactive with mental health services that are available to ALL who need them. Easily accessible, with no stigma, in our neighborhoods, community centers and churches. Right now, as people of God lets sound the alarm and let our families, friends, church members know: 1. Black people do get infected with COVID-19; and we are sicker and die from it more than any other race. 2. We must abide by the recommendations made by the scientist to first and foremost, stay at home; by doing so you will contribute

In the Bible, praise is defined as a joyful noise, prayer, singing, dancing, playing instruments, bowing in the presence of God, or any other form of adoration and celebration that is uninhibited in which God commands all creation. Praise is characterized by honoring and magnifying Him for who He is with the intent to exalt his Holy name. Worship is an act of obedience which comes from your heart and your spirit. Worship is an intimate time and moment where believers can have the opportunity to personalize their love and expression to God. Throughout the book of Psalms, we are constantly commanded to “Praise the Lord”. Psalm 150:1-6 “Praise the Lord! Praise God in his 13
sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens! Praise him for his mighty deeds; praise him according to his excellent greatness! Praise him with trumpet sound; praise him with lute and harp! Praise him with tambourine and dance; praise him with strings and pipe! Praise him with sounding cymbals; praise him with loud clashing cymbals!”
Praise Invites God into our Lives Psalms 22:3 “But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.” The Bible tells us that God abides in the praises of his people. When we praise God, we are simply inviting him into our lives and situations we find too hard to handle ourselves. I get excited knowing that when I have the chance and privilege to praise and honor God’s
presence, He arrives on the scene with his greatness and his goodness and mercy flows into every part of my life!
Why We Should Praise and Worship Psalm 103:1-5 “Praise the Lord, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits— who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.” Praise and worship is our time and opportunity to acknowledge and to thank God for everything He has done in our lives; even praising God in hard times. Today, we are in the midst of an unprecedented time due to COVID-19. And as a result of this pandemic, our praise and worship should rise from the inside so it would not only bring God to the scene and involve Him in our situation, but it should also redirect our emotions and our focus on who God is.
Hebrews 10:25 “Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.” While we wait for this difficult season to pass, the time is NOW to perfect our praise and worship to the true and living King! When we worship, we must worship Him in spirit and in truth knowing that our God is in control. God is seeking for those who will now worship Him through good and bad times. This is the clarion moment where God is responding to His Word. He said “Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!” (Psalm 107:31) John 4:23 “But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeks such to worship him.” Peace and Blessings, Min. Donnell Phillips
For He has declared that He never changes, and He also promised us to never to leave or abandon His children. We can count on His presence, even when our world is in turbulent times.
Praising God While Waiting Psalm 34:1 states, “I will bless the Lord at all times: his Praise shall continually be in my mouth.” I believe praise and worship is just as important now as ever and should be cherished during this time of “Shelter in Place” when we are unable to meet for corporate worship. There are so many vast resources and various forms of technology that allow us to join together across the globe with the click of a button to give praise and honor to our God.

Guard yourself against the spirit of fear Fear can cause you to make decisions that can result in overspending by purchasing large quantities of supplies that you do not need. Also, fear can cause you to make premature financial decisions. Stay in faith and use wisdom. For God is not a God of confusion but of peace. Review for Financial Position Write out a plan for your income and expenses that is based upon your current financial situation for the next 30, 60, and 90 days. Habakkuk 2:2 tells us to write the vision and make it plain. In order to move forward during this time of uncertainty, you need to know what you are running with. Bishop Houpe has taught us to get the FACTS so you can cover it with TRUTH. What is the bottom line for your household? If your budget shows that your expenses are greater than your income, then those are the facts. Once you have the facts then you need to do the following things.
Communicate with lenders and creditors It can rain on the just and on the unjust. If you find that you are faced with layoff, termination, furlough or business closure, it is still important to be a person of integrity. Character is often built in the times of difficulty. When you know the facts show that you will not be able to pay by the due date then communicate this with your creditors. Contact your mortgage company and creditors and inquire about various COVID19 Relief programs. If they provide you options to “Pay Later, be sure to understand the following things about that program.
a. When will I have to pay? b. Will I have to pay all missed months at one time? c. How will this be reported to the credit bureau? d. Are there fees and/or interest related to this program?
1. Hold up your budget and give it to God. If you are a tither, then you have this promise of God to lean on: God will rebuke the devourer for your sake.
Exceedingly and Abundantly We have declared Ephesians 3:20 over our finances and households frequently at Harvest Church. This is the time to make that confession move beyond mere words and tap into the 4th 2. Ask God to show you what is NEXT. Dimension. COVID-19 appears to have changed Anytime that we are faced with a problem many things, but it can NOT change the Word then God has the solutions. Jesus called of God. The Word of God is true and God is our the Holy Spirit the Helper. The Holy refuge, strength and a very present help in times Spirit is the supernatural key to helping us of trouble. Stay in faith and look for the doors of close the natural GAP. opportunity that God will open for you.
3. Great People: We have said that great people are ready to help us for years. Well, now it is your time to allow God to direct you to those great people who have the resources.
Adjust WANTS vs. NEEDS Many times, situations like this afford you the opportunity to make adjustments that probably could have been made a long time ago. Be sure to review all your expenses and ask yourself if this a WANT or a NEED. You NEED to have a place to live whereas you might WANT to have 100 plus TV Channels. Review your membership and subscription expenses. Those items can be paused or canceled for a designated time period.

Question #1: What changes have the current pandemic created or brought to light in your relationship as husband and wife both positive and negative? Rahmya: Well, positively it has made me so grateful and truly appreciative of the love Darell and I share as true friends. It has become a source of strength and perseverance for us. It has brought to the forefront the importance of enjoying one another when outside distractions aren’t even an option. We try to make being in the house together 24/7 as fun as we can from having movie nights, making date time even with our little kids, going on long rides, and talking and dreaming with and for each other. The downside of all this togetherness: Darell drinking the last of my orange soda and eating my sour gummy worms (LOL). I may need to figure out a hiding spot. forth to work or doing 1,000 other things that distract us. Now, we have been forced to slow down and we get to talk through our goals and desires daily for the next step in our lives. I can’t begin to tell you just how much that means to me. This unexpected time has not only reminded me that I have a great wife, but it has shown me I have partner who I am so excited to do life with. Along with all the great things, I have also been shown the vast number of hours and energy we put into things outside of our family versus taking that time and investing it in each other. Question #2: What has this time revealed to you about the future of your family? Rahmya: I have been shown that there is power in our unity and that God will continue to increase us even in this time of need. During this time of quarantine, we have celebrated birthdays for both Darell and our daughter Zyon. Seeing what is going on in the world has made the “little things” seem
not so small anymore. These life milestones are precious and should be appreciated as such. As for the future of our family, God is going to increase us from the inside out. We are becoming a new family with what really matters being brought to the forefront of hearts. Darell: Wow, that’s deep question! I look forward to the growth ahead of us. We have come so far as husband and wife and as parents. For those who don’t know, Rahmya and I have known each other since we were kids. Sometimes I look at her and our kids and I laugh and think “man, I can’t believe we are doing life together.” It means so much to me that even now I struggle to put it into words. But as far as the future, I can say this moment of uncertainty will pass and prosperity will flourish in every area of our lives; which is my prayer for everyone who reads this article. Question #3: What does quality time with God and your family look like today? Rahmya: My time with God is precious. I’ve realized that I am no longer finding time with Him, but He is always with me even in simple moments. Also, I’ve purposed to be more sensitive to the Holy Spirit by letting him guide me through my day. This has created a space for a greater level or peace to operate in my life.
Question #4: Is there any advice you would give to other families? Rahmya: Take this time to get to know something new about your spouse or your child. You may be pleasantly surprised! Plan for where you want to be when we come out of this season. Set goals daily and keep living your life. Never give up! Darell: While you take this time to get to rediscover your family and your kids, workout, truly enjoy something as simple as fresh air, and plan for the future because its coming! Question #5. What advice can you give those who’s spiritual walk has been tested? Pray, and after that settle in your heart to have true Faith, believing the unseen. Believe in God’s perfect will to be done in your life and the lives of those you love. On hard days choose to be happy and only speak the Word of God no matter what it looks like. You may think that seems simple, but it’s not simple, it’s powerful, it’s lifesaving, and it’s what God wants from us.
My time spent with family is exiting, fun, and even tiring. I’m enjoying watching our girls grow literally before my eyes. I’m rediscovering my ability to do my own personal pampering, doing my nails and hair trying to stay cute just for our walks or drives around town. Unsurprisingly to me, meals have become very important right now. We enjoy sharing every meal together as a family. Darell: I would say my relationship with God has become more focused. The additional time I can spend in prayer and reading my Bible has opened the door of revelation in my life. As I seek Him more, He reveals and answers more. In a nutshell, I’m grateful and that’s what I’ve been telling Him. My time spent with my family during this pandemic has shown me what true quality time looks and feels like for us, it has been intimate and eyeopening. I have even developed a genuine appreciation for technology. It has helped keep me connected to my eldest daughter and I genuinely enjoy the time we spend together virtually.
Darell and Rahmya are married with three young girls. They are in the midst of burgeoning professional careers in addition to growing their entrepreneurial endeavors.

Passionate about the importance of education, Dr. Steve Houpe was led of the Lord to establish a private Christian School for children in 1990. Harvest Christian Schools (HCS) is an institution dedicated to “Training Up Leaders To Impact Generations.” The mission of HCS is to deliver a superior “quality of” Christian education that supports the development of the child’s total needs. That is academic, spiritual, physical, emotional, and social. HCS has an academically and culturally enriched program that develops well-rounded students for life-long success. Through proactive partnerships between a committed staff, families, and the community for 30 years we have successfully achieved our mission. Now possessing over 35 years of educational expertise, Dr. Donna Leah Houpe became the Executive Administrator of HCS in 1994 and begin to enhance the scope and vision for impacting the school’s students. Beginning with the Early Learning Center, HCS establishes an atmosphere of safety and an educational experience that is conducive to every child’s learning style. Through

the school’s Eight Educational Modules, students are offered a competitive and accelerated curriculum for learning. The modules include Evangelistic Ministry and Outreach, Leadership Development, Science and Technology, Early Learning and Development, Communication Arts, Visual, Fine and Musical Arts, and Athletics and Fitness. HCS prides itself on keeping its curriculum both competitive and adaptive for students. One of the greatest areas of focus right now is S.T.E.A.M. which stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math. The emphasis of S.T.E.A.M. subjects at HCS, keep both learning and fun at an all-time high.
SCIENCE Through Science, HCS fosters the curiosity of young minds in a variety of ways from early introduction of advanced learning concepts, hands on experimentation, and its annual science fair. The Science Fair at HCS is something that faculty and students look forward to every year as it opens up the door for students to not only immerse themselves in age-appropriate scientific research and learning, but also opens the door for local and state-wide competition in other Science Fairs. “It is important that Science is not viewed as an overly complicated subject for students. When they associate complication, they build up a wall that prevents learning—and the only reason they build walls preventing learning is because they are not properly exposed to concepts.” Says HCS Executive Administrator, Dr. Donna Houpe.
TECHNOLOGY There is no getting around the fact that technology is the second language of this generation. HCS capitalizes on technological trends to reach children in creative and relative ways. Children are introduced to a variety of interactive software and computer programs that push them to research, use deductive reasoning, and even conceive ideas for the next groundbreaking technological advancement. This year HCS also proudly introduced Coding Classes! Use of computer labs and smart boards in the classroom further the initiative to help technology not solely be for fun but for purpose!
ENGINEERING Coupled with science, engineering challenges students to look at life and not only ask “why?” but “how?” Through lab and classroom exercise students are challenged to build and craft mechanisms, machines, robots, and the like to discover how things work. Engineering at the elementary and junior high level of education opens the students’ curiosity for their future careers. Taking advantage of their curiosity early on can prove to be profitable for their success later.
the difficulty of math are confronted and silenced! As early as preschool students are introduced to numbers and basic visual problem-solving tactics surrounding math. In the lower elementary, in addition to age appropriate math subjects, students are introduced to basic concepts of advanced math subjects and worked with one on one to bridge any gaps that might prevent learning.

ARTS One of the core modules of HCS centers around fluent involvement with the arts. HCS prides itself on a legacy of in-depth musical exposure through choir and various genres of instrumental music classified by age and skill-levels. HCS is known for its extravagant annual all-school programs and recitals dedicated to highlighting the Christmas season, Black History Month, and the end of the year Spring Production just to name a few. Through these showcases, students demonstrate both knowledge and cultured appreciation for everything ranging from arts and crafts to poetry. HCS is dedicated to the theory that the arts contribute to a child’s well-rounded educational experience.
MATH At HCS we not only want students to be exposed to advanced mathematical subjects but to excel at them with confidence. Through timed testing, interactive computer programs, participation in the Math Olympics and more, HCS works diligently with its students to make sure that stigmas about
As the country is adapting to life amidst COVID-19, one could argue that among the greatest affected are the students across the country who no longer walk into a physical classroom every weekday. Keeping in line with are S.T.E.A.M objective, HCS has made it a top priority to ensure that even if our physical classrooms are closed, our virtual ones are not. HCS students have teacher-led class every day at certain times to maintain structure and foster a creative and modern learning environment.

Anxiety is the unwelcomed visitor many of us can do without. While nearly 40 million American adults suffer from anxiety disorders, only about one-third seek help. This doesn’t have to be you. If you are struggling with anxiety, put these methods to work today and regain control of you well-being.
help. When we fight it, it fights back. When we shame it, we inevitably shame ourselves and fuel the negative messages being replayed over and over in our minds. Instead of going to war with anxiety or running from it, sit with it when it comes. Calmly consider what might have triggered it and what your body and mind are trying to tell you.
1. Listen To Your Body You are a whole being. This means everything is connected. Though anxiety may start in your mind, it can trigger very real physical symptoms like headaches, chest pain, an increased heart rate, dizziness, and numbness in the arms, hands and fingers. Often, physical symptoms can heighten your anxiety, making you worry more. Be still. Find a quite space and focus on your breath. Inhale slowly and deeply, pause, then exhale.
4. Practice Gratitude When we get anxious, it’s easier to become negative. And it makes sense; anxiety is a response to perceived threats. So, when anxiety begins to creep in, develop a practice of focusing on what you are thankful for to counteract this swing. If the anxiety is workrelated, name three things about your job you appreciate. Doing so will help you gain much needed perspective.
2. Examine Your Lifestyle You may consider yourself healthy, but what if you are doing things that exacerbate your anxiety without even realizing it? Take a quick personal inventory: Do you maintain a healthy diet? How much caffeine or alcohol do you consume? Are you a smoker? Do you set aside time to regularly exercise or give yourself mental breaks? While these factors may not be the sole reasons you experience anxiety, neglecting to keep a healthy balance in these areas can be more harmful than we realize.
5. Talk It Out Sadly, there is a stigma in our culture that seeking therapy means you are weak or mentally ill. However, this could not be further from the truth. Remember, countless people suffer from anxiety each day, and only a small fraction seeks help. You are not alone! A quick search online can provide a long list of trained professionals willing to help you work through your anxiety. Anxiety is a very real thing, but so is your ability to overcome it and learn how to live in fullness!
3. Don’t Fight It Waging war with our anxiety seems like a normal response, right? For anyone who has experienced bouts with anxiety, you know logical arguments with yourself don’t always
