ARLINGTON HEIGHTS The village of Arlington Heights is located 25 miles northwest of downtown Chicago. With a population of over 75,000, it gained notoriety as the highest populated incorporated village in the country. The community’s history dates back to 1835, when the General Land Initially known as Dunton after William Dunton, who convinced the Illinois and Wisconsin Railroad to make a stop in the area in 1853, the town was established as an early Chicago commuter suburb. NORTHERN SUBURBS
LONG GROVE The village of Long Grove is located 35 miles northwest of Chicago in Lake County and encompasses almost 13 square miles. Settled in the early 1800s by German farmers, Long Grove was the thriving home to two general stores, two blacksmiths, two wagon and carriage shops, and a tavern which is still in operation today. The crossing of two Indian trails eventually became the site of present-day Long Grove. Many pre-Civil War buildings remain in Long Grove, including farmhouses, homes, and independently owned merchant stores. Plaques adorn each structure, giving acknowledgement to the original owners as well as recognizing their importance to the history of the village. Strict building ordinances protect the country feel and atmosphere of the community. The 2012 average sales price for a single-family home was $422,830, and $231,013 for a condominium. LINCOLNSHIRE Lincolnshire, located 34 miles northwest of downtown Chicago, is among the most desirable places to live and work in the Chicago metropolitan area. MUNDELEIN Located 34 miles northwest of downtown Chicago, the village of
Mundelein in 1835, and the village was incorporated in 1865. Mundelein was originally called several different names, including named Mundelein in 1925 after Cardinal George Mundelein, who opened what remains the largest operating seminary in the United States, St. Mary of the Lake, in 1921. LAKE VILLA Located approximately 50 miles northwest of Chicago, Lake Villa is a thriving community surrounded by lakes. The community was settled in the 19th century, when it served as a resort town. Lake Villa began to take shape in the 1880s thanks to E.J. Lehmann, who brought railroad service and a private resort to the area.
