Office of Career Development & Student Educational Centers Annual Summary 2010-2011 Academic Year Assuring the students at each Florida Student Educational Center that the Office of Career Development is there for them.
The Purpose and Benefit of Relationship The purpose of the relationship built between the Office of Career Development and the Student Educational Centers is to provide equivalent services to these students although they are not located on the main campus. The Office of Career Development created a graduate assistantship position, Coordinator for Campus Relations for the Student Educational Centers. This position’s sole responsibility is to work with the Student Affairs Coordinators at each site to create programming specific to site, provide marketing materials and one-on-one advisement. Specific marketing was created for the sites when needed to promote workshops and events. After a collaboration with the Student Affairs Coordinators at the sites, marketing was created so the students “put a face to a name” with their Career Adviser.
Fort Myers Site There were two workshops at the Fort Myers site. The first workshop was a video conference Building Your Resume Through Involvement November 2010. There were approximately 20 students who attended this workshop. This presentation was on Resumes/Curriculum Vitae for Nursing Students November 2010. There were about 30 students who attended the workshop. The workshop was on Nursing Resumes for Seniors. For this workshop, I went to Debbie Diamond’s class to teach them about resumes and
cover letters. After this presentation, Debbie requested that this presentation be given to her students each semester. After this presentation, there was a pinning reception for the members of Delta Epsilon Iota Academic Honor Society. There were six students who received their pins from the event. Many of the students’ friends and family attended to support. There were words by a Student Government representative and a past DEI Vice President.
