I transferred into Cal Poly as a second year architecture student in 2012. My first two studios were with Robert Arens and Don Choi. For third year, I studied under John Lange for three quarters. Last year, I studied Danish design and nordic functionalism in Copenhagen at the Danish Institute for Study Abroad. While in Copenhagen, I worked for the danish firm BCVA, where I helped with a housing development renovation competition. Currently, I am working with Ted Smith in San Diego. We are working on a micro unit high rise tower. In previous summers I have had three other internships. The first internship was with Animate Digital Studios, a professional rendering company. The next summer, I worked for Rob Wellington Quigley, where I helped with 3D modeling, technical drawings for custom appliances, and developed materials boards for presentation. I also worked for Carrier Johnson, where I helped with several competitions, 2D graphics, and modeling. I am considering working on developing a concept for a parcel of land that my father owns in Barrio Logan, San Diego. This parcel is one of nine parcels owned by various San Diego architects. The project includes parcels owned by Rob Quigley, Ted Smith, Teddy Cruz, Hector Cruz, Loyd Russell, Robin Brisbois, Katherine Herbst and Todd Reinhardt. My goal for next year is to have a well developed concept and drawings of the project that are ready to permit and build. Upon graduation, I intend to pursue a masters degree in architecture. I am interested in attending The Bartlett School of Architecture and the Architectural Association School of Architecture, both in London. After completing a masters program I would like to establish my own practice, develop a few of my own projects, and possibly teach at the university level.

Los Angeles Gateway This project is located over the 101 freeway in downtown Los Angeles. The concept for this building is structural organism. This project focused on space, light and structure. The land taken by the freeway is given back to the people. The space on the North end is a restaurant. A walking promenade connects this restaurant to an outdoor sculpture garden.

Avila Research Institute This project is a research facility located in Avila bay. The design concept is orbital rotation, a pattern of movement that is found in all scales of the universe. The project is located in the waters of the bay, and the structure is similar to that of an off-shore oil rig. Within the dome, the main form is a Mรถbius strip, a two-dimensional sheet comprised of a single surface.

Lyden Lyden is a music venue for Nordhavn, one of Copenhagen’s largest planned developments. The building is located in an area called the “Brick City” and the project preserves this context by floating the venue above existing buildings on the site. By placing the venue above the surrounding buildings, the venue has views of the ocean as well as all of Nordhavn. The focus of this project was providing flexible spaces for a wide variety of performances. The two venues in Lyden are separated by maneuverable walls that can be raised to create a large open space for popular performances. The eastern facing windows are also maneuverable, allowing the venue to be converted to a semi-outdoor space. The large roof deck could be used as an outdoor venue. Lyden can host up to three events simultaneously. 18
