The Crossing The Crossing is a series of photographic works responding to the process of change in the context of an evolving town centre landscape. Combining portraiture with transitional landscapes and detail the work explores the nature of societal and structural change and the relationship between people, place and the built environment. The Crossing offers an open narrative on the subject of change, and of memory and identity tied to place. Anton Want

You are here It is difficult to fully understand the place you come from; it represents myriad thoughts and feelings at different stages in our lives. During childhood you are aware of your local environment - bubble gum machines, shops, schools and so on. As you get older you become aware of its place in a regional and national context. This collection of work is made from visual observations, memories and thoughts that explore a sense of place, locality and identity in an age of globalisation and homogenisation. Produced from new and existing work mixed with found ephemera, the work is grounded in creating a dialogue with our surroundings and each other. Patrick Murphy
