Dear Deputy Speaker Hboper: I wish to thank you fbr your continuing support and for honoring my request to sponsor Assembly
Bill A10034,
an act to expand the pool of civil service tested superior offrcers for chief of police to include all New York State approved superior officers, The Villagi of Freeport is gratefi.rl to have you us a friend and supporter" As you axB aware! the Village is also engaged in litigatiorr *itfr tnr Nassau Civil Service Commission regarding the selbction process fsr Chief of Police, lncluding qualified rninority candidates. That litigation, which has been proceeding irr tandem with the legislation, has now matured. I have been informed by the Village Attorney that his oftlce is in settlement negotiations with rhe Nassau Counff Civil Service Commission and anticipates a f.ull and favorable settlement of that matter shortly. The settlement would effectively make Assembly Bill At 0034 urinecessary, At this time, I am therefore respectfully requesting that you wrthdraw Assembly Bill A10034.
Agnin, I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank you on behalf of the residents of the Villagâ‚Ź of Freeport for your assistance. I look fotward to working vvrth you on the mynad of other Frosbssive projects for which you continue to provide us invaluable assistance; especially our efforts to embrace a greener future for the Village of Freeport through environmentally friendly projects.
