Dr. Flint: The top anxieties about choosing to have an elective surgery. Probably discomfort is number one, as far as how they are going to feel after the procedure. And different procedures certainly come with different recoveries, but honestly, none of the elective surgeries that I do come with the lengthy, or down and out sort of recovery. I mean there's great techniques now to minimize discomfort and get people back to normal activities more quickly. Patient: I was a little bit nervous about the discomfort after the surgery, and the amount of down time that I was going to have. The pain management was wonderful. The medications she prescribed, the pain medicines, were totally fine. I felt great. I didn't feel over drugged or like I didn't have enough. Overall, it was just a great experience. In previous surgeries, I would have very hard times with anesthesia. It would make me sick and the anesthesiologist and the rest of the staff at the hospital was great. They did my medication just correctly. I wasn't sick at all. I felt fine when I woke up. Dr. Flint: I only use board certified anesthesiologists, and it's the same people that put me and my family to sleep when we have surgery. The statistics actually show you're safer in the operating room under general anesthesia than you are driving a car in Phoenix. When we keep things in perspective that way and you go to someone, like myself, who puts safety first, you really don't have to worry about that. Patient: I picked Dr. Flint as my plastic surgeon because, right from the initial consultation, I just felt very, very comfortable with her. And I knew that she'd be able to give me an outcome that I wanted. Yeah, I'm thrilled with my results.
