Why I Support the American Cancer Society… Every day, the American Cancer Society is saving more lives from breast cancer than ever before. They’re helping people take steps to reduce their risk of breast cancer or find it early, when it’s easier to treat. They provide free information and services when and where people need it. They fund groundbreaking breast cancer research and they’re working to ensure access to mammograms for women who need them.

First held in 1976, the event has grown to be America’s largest Oktoberfest. Last year, more than 700,000 people enjoyed the sights, sounds, and tastes of downtown as 2nd and 3rd Street were transformed into a colorful Bavarian village serving up German-style food, entertainment, and beer. The featured events kick off with the famous Running of the Wieners, which includes 100 dachsunds donning costumes and running heats to determine Zinzinnati’s fastest wiener dog. Other events throughout the weekend include the World Brat-Eating Championship, Frocktoberfest/ Socktoberfest Pageant, Stein Hoist Championship, fan-favorite Chicken Dance, and more! Of course, what would any Oktoberfest be without the beer and food? More than 2,000 barrels of beer from 100+ different styles will be consumed at Oktoberfest Zinzinnati, and through out the weekend it is estimated that more than 80k+ brats, 3.6k pounds of sauerkraut, 23k+ pretzels, and 87k+ metts will be consumed.
Oktoberfest Zinzinnati activities begin Friday, September 16 at 11 a.m. and continue through the weekend. Visit oktoberfestzinzinnati.com for more information.
