Some scientists argue that the technological and scientific progress today is exponential.

Nekateri znanstveniki menijo, da napredek v znanosti in tehnologiji poteka eksponentno.

The doubling of computer processing speed every 18 months, known as Moore's Law [1], is just one manifestation of the greater trend that all technological change occurs at an exponential rate. [1] Moore's law is the observation that the number of transistors in a dense integrated circuit doubles about every two years.

Podvojevanje procesorkse moči vsakih 18 months, poznano kot Moorov zakon [1] je le ena manifestacija tega širšega trenda, da se vse tehnološke spremembe odvijajo s ekponentno stopnjo. [1] Moorov zakon je opazovanje, da je število tranzistorjev v gusto integriranih vezjih podvoji na približno vsaki dve leti.

context Urban context for the proposed SciCenter is defined by the semi open urban matrix with 20th century urban typology of lower height. In the neighborhood area there are many educational and research institution present. Specific feature of the plot is the prominent position in relation to the transit routes around and through Ljubljana city; the location is tangential to the inner core of the city. This results in low density but high accessibility of the proposed location.

kontekst Urbani kontekst predlaganega Centra znanosti (SciCenter) definira delno odprta urbana matrika stavbno tipologijo nižjih višin. V okolici obravnavanega območja se nahaja večje število izobraževalnih in raziskovalnih inštitucij. Območje načrtovanega centra znanosti je na prominentni lokaciji glede na cestno omrežje mesta Ljubljana. Leži ob južni mestni vpadnici ter tangencialno na notranji mestni obroč. Posledično je lokacija zelo dostopna a že izven območja intenzivnejše gradnje.

Low density of the area also resulted in comfortable floating green spaces. This proposal engages The green character of the location conceptually aiming to include the future SciCenter into the green archipelago of Ljubljana city limits. The specific character of the location is given by the Gradaščica river park which is promoted and extended in this proposal.

Nižje intenziteta grajenega okolja omogoča vpeljavo ozelenjenih krajin. Natečajni predlog prispeva h krepitvi zelenega karakterja lokacije. Projekt Centra znanosti (SciCenter) nadgradi obstoječ ozelenjeni arhipelag meja mesta Ljubljana. Specifični karakter lokacije predstavlja park ob Gradaščici, ki ga natečajni predlog razširi proti jugu in še bolj poudari.

concept the volume and the spatial concept of this proposal is expressed by a calotte [2], or as the authors call it the second ground. [2] In geometry, a spherical cap, spherical dome, or spherical segment of one base is a portion of a sphere cut off by a plane. If the plane passes through the center of the sphere, so that the height of the cap is equal to the radius of the sphere, the spherical cap is called a hemisphere. Calotte: Diameter of the globe that the calotte is part of equals 93m, the number that relates to the distance between the center of our planet Earth and the center of our Sun.

The concept is embedded in the idea of embarking on a mission beyond the known grounds- into new territories of knowledge. The same way Argonauts embarked the ark and commenced the voyage into the Mythological Great unknown. On this location they had to transfer the ark not on the water, but over ground – they had to overcome the limits of ark’s capabilities to continue the voyage. We are today aiming similarly, but with different borders to transgress/transcend.

Koncept Prostorsko-oblikovni koncept nove zasnove predstavlja kalota [2] - dvignjeni del sfere oz. kot druga tla, kot to imenujejo avtorji. [2] V geometriji - vrhnji del oble, sferične kupole; kot bi s ravnino odrezali zgornji del oble. Če ravnina poteka skozi center sfere, tako da je zgornji del enak radiju sfere potem zgornji del imenujemo hemisfera. kalota: premer oble, katere del je kalota znaša 93 metrov. Število je povezano z razdaljo med planetom Zemlja in središčem Sonca.

Koncept gradi na ideji vkrcanja na misijo, kin as prelje preko znanih horizontov – k osvajanjem novih ozemlj znanja. Pri tem se spomnimo na Argonavte, ki so se odpravili na potovanje v mitološko Veliko neznano z ladjo Argo. Prav na tem mestu so morali ladjo za nadaljevanje njihove poti prenesti preko kopnega preko njenih meja zmožnosti. Tudi mi danes stremimo k raziskovanju neznanega na podoben način a se soočamo z drugačnimi omejitvami, ki jih moramo prestopiti

Regarding architectural organization of programs, the ground floor belongs to public, a concept in which surrounding park flows into the public lobby area (with café and restaurant) and central space. All main programs that constitute the SciCentar are designed inside of the second ground calotte.
