I’ve got two young children and I work from home. Things have A. been going very well—too well! My business (I design and make jewellery) is growing and I’m finding it more and more difficult to find time for both the kids and my work. I want to be able to spend time with my children, but I also want my business to keep growing. My husband works very long hours and can’t really help, except at weekends. What should I do?
B. I’m 52, single and I live with my mother. She’s getting old, and although she’s still very independent in spirit, she needs constant care, as well as help with the shopping, cooking, and cleaning. The thing is that I’d very much like to go away on holiday this summer for a couple of weeks on my own. I’ve got two brothers, one lives abroad, and the other lives four hours away by car. I’ve asked both of them if they can come to look after mum while I’m away, but they’ve both said no. I don’t know what to do. Can you help?
