BLUE WHALE PARK
Advertisement
Located at 2680 North Highway 66 in Catoosa, OK The Blue Whale of Catoosa is a waterfront structure that has become one of the most recognizable attractions on old Route 66. The whale was constructed as a gift for Zelda, the wife of Hugh Davis, as she collected whale figurines. As the feature became more and more popular, Davis brought in picnic tables and sand and hired lifeguards. He named his park “Nature’s Acres,” a roadside attraction which included a swimming pond and an animal reptile kingdom. After the death of the Davises, the park fell into disrepair. The Blue Whale and the picnic area were restored by the people of Catoosa and employees of the Hampton Inn.
