willrogers.com The 19,052-square-foot museum dedicated to “Oklahoma’s favorite son,” Will Rogers, sits on a rolling, green hill surrounded by sunken gardens in a beautiful Mediterranean Revival-style building with limestone walls and spit slate floors. Exhibits feature artifacts and memorabilia of the life of Will Rogers, a children’s museum, and a theater that shows documentaries and speeches about his life, as well as movies in which he starred. Facilities and grounds are available for special events. This museum, housed in the former Will Rogers Library, showcases the history of Claremore and notable residents, including Will Rogers, Patti Page, Lynn Riggs, Andy Payne, Stuart Roosa, Helen Robson Walton, and more. Admission to the museum is free, and donations are welcome.

The world’s largest privately-held firearms collection is housed in the J.M. Davis Arms & Historical Museum. The museum displays more than 12,000 firearms and thousands of artifacts of the Old West, World War I, and local history.

The museum collects, preserves, and exhibits items relevant to the school’s history, including a recreated typical cadet room. In its heyday, the school was hailed as the West Point of the Southwest. It operated as a cavalry school until tanks arrived in the 1940s. The museum is housed in Meyer Hall and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Ten miles northeast of Claremore, just 3.5 miles east of Historic U.S. Route 66, Totem Pole Park sits on 14 acres and features totem poles, including the world’s largest concrete totem pole, and an 11-sided concrete workshop housing a collection of Ed Galloway’s fiddles. The quirky attraction was completed in 1948 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1999.
