Read about your schoolbag and answer the questions below.

What is there in YOUR school bag? Many school children aged between 11-14 carry too much in their school bags. One third of all school children in Italy, for example, have bags which weigh 30% of their body weight. Doctors say children should only carry 10-15% of their body weight. If they carry more they can suffer from serious back pains in the future. However, there is more than just textbooks in school bags. The contents of a typical school bag often include notebooks, files, lunch boxes, bottles of water or juice, pencil cases, P.E. or sports kits and non-school materials. The non-school materials include things like expensive calculators, mobile phones, mp3/mp4 players, laptops, hand-held computer games and lucky mascots at exam time. This means that an average schoolbag can cost as much as €440. Children who live in large cities, such as London, are more in danger of having their school bags stolen. The best thing to do is to carry only the books you need for that day and leave the non-school materials at home so they are neither broken nor stolen. Another good idea is to buy a school bag which is ergonomic to protect your back and if you carry a rucksack it should be on both shoulders. For more information about ergonomic school bags you can visit this website: www.ergonomicschoolbags.co.uk/ http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/education/2950475.stm insurance-points-out-school-bag-costs/
