INTERESTS AND ACTIVITIES Being a local youth club member and voluntary leader (from 1985 to 1992) helped strengthen my leadership and team member skills.

I enjoy travelling. My extensive travels within the British Isles have been mirrored throughout Europe.

My reading interests tend towards modern, post-colonial and Irish literature.

Since 2009 I have enjoyed my own organic vegetable garden, taken up parachuting, padel tennis and woodwork.

I am also a keen all-round sportsman and award-winner in several sports.
