ProAction of Steuben and Yates recognizes Catholic Charities of Steuben with “Promise of Community Action” Award Catholic Charities of Steuben was recognized by ProAction of Steuben and Yates, Inc. with the "Promise of Community Action" Award at ProAction's Annual Awards Breakfast Thursday, May 25, 2017. The award recognizes a business, elected official, community partner, or community member who embodies the “Promise of Community Action: Community Action changes people's lives, embodies the spirit of hope, improves communities, and makes America a better place to live. We care about the entire community, and we are dedicated to helping people help themselves and each other.” In presenting the award, ProAction’s CEO/Executive Director Laura Rossman said, “Catholic Charities of Steuben is the perfect recipient of the Promise of Community Action Award as they understand the importance of working together as partners and that it is essential in building communities that care for all people, and that our combined services will empower people to enrich their quality of life from access to resources and opportunities, healthy family functioning and engagement, healthy child development, healthy mental wellness, and freedom from substance dependency. “Both of our organizations’ work is grounded in the belief that we are one human family in which everyone’s dignity is sacred. As sister anti-poverty agencies, we rally in support of our communities’ vulnerable members, speaking out against social injustice and advocating for better opportunities and the right of all humans to their dignity. And we pledge together as partners to live the community action promise.”
