editor’s note
the youth is yours
There was air in the space as I wrote this—an irregular sound in the night road can be heard from my window, all signals that this youth magazine was drawing to a close. As a kid, playing has been unlimited and it’s delightful. They can freely play with fire and make loud noises late night while parents watched them from behind. They always get warm hugs and intimate kisses from everyone. Kid’s cuteness overloads that even sadness and stresses could not idle smiles and laughters. However, parent’s dictates became law in all times, but learning from restrictions has been the festive moment for all kids. But eventually, they grew older. The simple pleasure of seeing things changed and spiced up into many colors became less satisfying. No one can tell them not to play anymore. Things just got normal and this was when youth stage began.

I won’t be presumptuous as to say that youth nowadays were creative and lively. In this generation, there were series of understandings and outlooks that the past generations did not possess. People need to adapt the change of time; youth’s emotions, perspectives and other noble traits must be respected. Yes, youth also have negative ethical traits and intellectual perversions which removed them from true character, but that doesn’t mean youth are helpless in the society.

the inherent sense of money, fame, and power must be hammered down. Everything changed, so as the life of everyone, but youth still have plenty of desires for all; they just don’t know how to please themselves. Undeniably, youth has still this room for improvement; to change not just for good, but for the better. Thus, youth was not a lost generation, never. This new issue of youth magazine was made doubly special for the readers. It comprises an array of articles that discussed the modern time youth. It has a lot of spotlights to enjoy with. We featured the comeback of trends from the past years, and the most clicked outfits of today. Expand your motivation to be successful by reading heart-touching stories by some young professionals. One of the features you would not dare to miss was how the youth has been addicted to social media and how oblivious they were in creating their own image. And, as a summer treat, we’ll show the beauty of best and worthwhile travel spots. We have the fashion editorials also that would add colors and meanings as you go and flip every leaf. These are just some of the features that our magazine has. A lot of inspiration was waiting for you as soon as you scan thoroughly pages by pages.

Lipsticks according to Mood
Lipsticks are expressing everything depending on its mood. If you see someone wearing the dark chocolate brown or anything dark, the person is not in the mood, but if you see someone wearing the nude and the red one, the person is in love and in a very sweet kind of mood. Mood can be found on the lips, nowadays.

Maj Malabago dishes out what fan girls should be like, from how to become a fan to why. While it may be hard to understand why these exist, we cannot hide of how our parents before between being a Vilmanian and a Noranian.
A group of shrieking girls fighting for someone’s attention in a crowd filled with even more of those screamers—fan girls. For sure, a certain percentage of today’s youth belong to a certain fandom, may it be local or global, the KPop.
If you find a certain song catchy and you start replaying it, it’s just called LSS or Last Song Syndrome. If you find yourself playing with one song all day, that’s normal. And if you end up searching for the song artist and his other songs, you’re on the stalker level. But if you surf on YouTube and the search bar contains the artist’s songs, live performances, covers, exclusive interviews and even funny moments, definitely, you’re a fan. Being a fan can be very challenging. First fact: you’re not the only one. However, it can be both an advantage and not because you have someone to talk to and go crazy with anytime, anywhere. You can even go together on a fan meeting. On the other hand, going cray-cray over the same star can become a competition. You are forced to do a deeper ‘research’ about your idol just to prove yourself better than your ‘opponent.’ Next fact: you have to balance it with your studies and social life. Being a fan girl makes you eventually discover another side of yourself, which is at the same time exciting. For the last fact: the most interesting part of being a certified fan girl is dealing with the anti-fans. They are often called haters or bashers. They are the ones responsible for your idol’s great downfall and look for your idol’s flaw. Haters do best in trying to ruin your day by leaving

negative remarks. You as a fan should of course fight back with the words, “spread love not hate” or what’s common nowadays is something that goes like, “don’t judge, nobody’s perfect.” But the nature of bashers simply doesn’t ruin just one of your days—they come in series. Although they can be really annoying sometimes, they just get buried with the fans’ overflowing positive comments. “Nothing but appreciation” is what a fan girl gives. From a mere fan girl to a fan club who makes a fan page that becomes a fandom or fanbase, they ought not to be underestimated, however, because they can be really scary if anyone shows signs of hatred towards their idol. It is true that they are all about “saranghae oppa” or “marry me Bieber” or even “JaDine is love” but if you go against them, just be prepared for a storm surge. These fans will not stop attacking you until you deactivate all of your social networking accounts. Being on the side of the bashers will only be regret for you for all we know, bashers are not loyal—they bash just anyone, anytime. Millennials are very much familiar with fan girling moments. The same goes for the boys. They may not have the same interests with the girls but for sure they have those screaming-inthe-crowd moments like in basketball or for Liza Soberano. So, which fan base are you thinking of joining? If you can’t avoid them, join them.
condoms carry responsibility Words by: HORACE ASIS

This can lead to more enticements that can drive the youth to use the condom and execute ‘sporadic sexual activity’ than obtaining and dispensing condoms.
The Catholic Bishops Conference in the Philippines (CBCP) has of course, a dissimilar notion about the enactment of giving free condoms. For them, it’s better to inflate to raise public awareness to the youth in teaching them what are the possible cons in dealing with the early practice of premarital and extramarital sex.
The big deal on what DOH did is building a huge step to combat the enlarging expanse of the early pregnancy and dodging of getting infections like HIV in our country today. More than half of the affected individuals in 2016 belongs to the 25 to 34 (19,578) age group while 28 percent (10,279) were aged 15 to 24. Yap-San Diego Ancestral House stand the test of time, with all treasures it kept inside, it remains to be the keeper of Cebu’s colorful history. Words by: JOLISSA TABOADA A house serves as living quarters for every family. Nowadays, classier and fashionable houses are sprouting up the metro. They have huge landscapes, lush greeneries, and of course a swimming pool. However, made over centuries ago, a house within the city’s heartbeat proves how a house can be a home. An old house remains steady and firm even if it was made years ago. One of the oldest residential houses in the Philippines, the Yap-San Diego Ancestral House is of a worthwhile visit. The house-turned museum is a two-story old world charmed and fashioned house made of purely wood and coral stones. It was built by a Chinese merchant during the 17th century. Located along the old district of Parian, this ancestral house is owned by the fourth descendant of the family, Val Sandiego. There are a lot of features in this house, from its big windows, a wide living room and a visitor’s area where some people would love to stay. The constructions of the ancestral house were coral stones that were glued together with egg whites and roofs are made of “tisa,” clay weighing one kilogram each piece. Along the district of Parian treasures the Cebuano history, testifying are the houses that up until now stood still, appearance never changed so as the old house. One can still find a big

With the city hubbubs, places to unwind are a real mission. La Vie Parisienne tucked in the middle of the city might be the first choice, because why not?
If a south-side designed café is your ideal place for brunch, a French-themed bakery and wine cellar oozing with sophistication is perfect for a bread and wine pairing session.

Remember a memory that was frozen through time, a taste from home that was replaced by something new. A part of town where one could get a plate of love and a cup of peace; a place where one could think, read, and create something extraordinary.
Built for the pastry and wine lovers, La Vie Parisienne gives an ambience of a place one could only get to visit Paris. The smell of fresh pastry and the sight of foreigners make one like a foreigner in his own city. Located along Salinad Drive, the place resembles a secluded area on a mountain, thanks to its nature-inspired interior aesthetics.
Located behind Chong Hu Hospital, is a place close to home, it almost looks like, feels like, and cooks like, Camden Café. The apartment-looking café from the outside, serves an all-day-breakfast meals giving the customers a welcoming comfort a home.
Upon entrance, a rack of different tastes of wine feasts the eyes. Not only that, the whole place is literally a wine cellar. The wall of the place is a wine shelf filled with wines of your choice. With its unique interior design, costumers won’t exit the place without a single photo posted on social media. There are also mini-cottages that look like tree houses outside the café. It is even more exciting at night because these cottages glitter in pink and blue lights, feels like inside the magical pumpkin carriage of Cinderella ready to hit the castle for the ball.
Walls painted in white and the classic use of neon lights that spells out “Camden” as a wall decor meets the eye upon entering the café. The minimalistic and south side design that maximized the space of the cafe leaves one’s phone full of photos worthy of sharing to circle of friends. The smell of morning bliss upon entering the café, freshly made pancakes and eggs with the bitter-sweet aroma of coffee fills up the air of this small café. Camden serves a variety of breakfast meals, from omelettes to pancakes and unique mellow blend of coffee to start up or end up a day with a winning smile. Because #RiceIsLife, rice breakfast meals were recently added to its menu. The Beef Tapa, Spam, Chorizo, and Bacon served with Java Rice and the “perfectly” cooked eggs on the side, leaving one’s mouth to crave for more after every spoonful bite. The Meat & Eggs Platters are to die for, the Bacon and Eggs that is served with a toast and a slice of zesty orange on the side, gives a treat of the western breakfast vibes.
Going there at night time is the best; the area is a dining room with dim lights accompanied with chill music, just perfect for a mind detoxification. On its right side is a fireplace creating warm and welcomes every customers. Adding to the mood are the comfortable chairs with leather and animal skin, plus the friendly-looking plant decoration on the tables reveals freshness.
Served with maple syrup, butter, powdered sugar, and topped by some kiwis, it is not breakfast without the famed flap jacks. The Buttermilk Pancakes is cooked perfectly with the right amount of lightness and fluffiness—a sugar-filled treat soft and fluffy heaven that is worth flipping for. The café has the best deal of food for morning or brunch kind of person, indeed.
A part of town where one could get a plate of love and a cup of peace and linger over the fresh made breakfast served on plate. Of course, one would surely put their name and sign up for a Breakfast Club enjoy the delight of a southside brunch.
The bread and wines are affordable for those who are budget conservative. But no one can say no to the mouth-drooling, elegantly arranged breads lining up on the counter. Aside from wine, it also serves pastries from all kinds may it be croissants and a delightful raisins bread. La Vie Parisienne testifies being the place to unwind after a hard day’s job and end it with a glass of wine and bite of pastry. After all, wine not? It is simply all that matters.

Krisha continues to walk on her journey as she tickles the interest of the people through her blogs in this world she considers the happiest place. Words by: JUDELL GALOLO
With just simple click everything changed as the clock ticks, a photo blog was selected as a finalist of the Philippine Blogging Awards -one of the biggest blogging awards in the country. She is Krisha Rule, a registered nurse with a burning love for Cebu and photography. She is from the island – of Mactan. Thus, Krisha’s blog; krishafromtheisland.com which is a mishmash of all of things.
Krisha created the blog herself which to her was a learning experience to try new things and endeavors as she goes through along her way to photography. “I don’t know anything about HTML, domains, hosting and all those other big words when I first started this. It was mind-boggling,” she says. Tumblr resides to the life of Krisha, - that’s when she started posting more specific stuff about Cebu and photography. There weren’t food blogs, or fashion blogs or travel blogs which pave the way to become blog indifference before. There were simply blogs about anything and everything. Pretty casual and down-to-earth – that is how she describes her style in blogging. She finds it weird to do ‘blogger poses’ and much rather have her models or friends do it. She also tries to be funny and candid. “I actually want my readers to feel like they were with me on every post that I make.” Krisha even imparts her thought about blogs to the youth that blogging is a great way to express yourself and channel your
creativity. “The internet is a wonderful resource and I think the youth should capitalize on that. Literally anyone in the world can see what you can create. Blogging is a great way to meet people with the same interests. It’s a great way to build relationships with like-minded people,” As to be as relevant as she can to the youth is Krisha’s goal. “I try to be more than an OOTD, or a nice picture,” She tries to share her love for Cebu, which for her was the reason she started her blog. “I try to be as real as I can be online as I am in real life. Less fancy, more depth is what I want my blog to be, and I hope that can affect the youth in a positive way.” Krisha didn’t even bother to voice out the worth sharing tips to all the bloggers: First, don’t blog for money; it’s not that profitable according to her. Second, don’t blog for likes; Likes aren’t everything. Third, aim for depth instead of width; and lastly, enjoy what you do. Do it because you want to do it. Do it for yourself. “The world’s an awesome place, something that has to be explored. I think I’m in this stage in life where I want to make the most of it, see what can I do, learn new skills and apply them. I want to go on an adventure.” The world is a great place to be. It’s a huge and happy island to be in. But it is also an island of doubts and melancholy. As we stay in this island full of uncertainties, we may be pulled down but we can always choose to blog our way up.

ATTACK Preserving the cultural heritage of Cebu, Zach Villegas Aldave is ready to take full responsibility of everything downtown within just a flash snap. Words by: JOHN PAUL APA
Everyone has potential for greatness. In order to be great, we have to break down the narrow mindset and be open-minded to the possibilities that life has to offer.
Zach treats photography as a craft. During his second year in college, he decided to stop going to school and pursue photography, particularly around the streets of the downtown Cebu. For him, it is a risk to not pursue a college degree over his passion. Learning through experience is what urges Zach to stop education, “I have realized that school is not for me,” he clears. But he never forgets who school education is important. With his parent’s consent, Zach stops school and wanders around the street. As Zach strolls down around the city with his camera, he was fallen in love in downtown Cebu. Locales daily routine around the downtown drives him to grab the interest to go and snap some photos. He finds street photography as his greatest connection and as unique form of photography.
Of course, that is Zach Villegas Aldave is, he does everything to follow his true track in life. It is his passion that gives everyone the way to new and more perspective about the historic downtown Cebu.

Upon growing up, Lee finished his primary, intermediate, and secondary education in Korea and went to Cebu to study English. Taking up the course of Bachelor of Science in Economics at University of San Carlos, Lee wanted to finish his college, he is now on his last year. Living far from his abode was a great challenge to him and communication was distant. He had a hard time on communicating with people and dealing with the things around,
profiles but it didn’t give him the idea on backing out. Instead, Lee faced the most engaging experience he learned in Cebu—the Bisaya dialect. In the midst of his studies, by 2013, Lee and his friend have founded a business which was a café. Named after the well-known K-pop singer Psy, they derived from the singer’s famous song, Gentleman, thus, the name of the café. Lee had experienced ups and downs while establishing it. When the business started, he found out that their café has low income and struggles with its own suppliers. He tried to invest in different countries for his products until he settled in Taiwan; which the products were more affordable but still original. Lee believes that the café made a big relevance to the society. It gave a big help to the youngsters on their studies, since it became a study place for some of the college students. Years have passed and the cafe boomed and now has more branches around Cebu. Youth is like making the café a comfortable study lounge for them to unwind and talk about things. Lee did his best and took full responsibility on keeping the café prosperous. He didn’t seek any help from his family; rather he proved that he could do something good for everybody. Lee’s main goal for his café is to become popular like those other cafes. He wanted the business to become more successful than it was. Striving harder in what he loves doing would make his family more proud of him.
In Jojo’s lens
Lee remained humbled and he believed that there was nothing more satisfying than getting what he want by working hard and by not depending from what his family has.
If there’s one thing that makes Jojo Serina’s jive in the youth, is its creative mind. As he walks down through his photos, Jojo makes sure that everything will fall in to place. Words by: SHYREL BITOON
In the new age of photography, anyone can pick up a camera and start taking beautiful photographs. Some with the best camera and necklaced it, claimed they are photographer, but it not the way it is.
A good photographer possesses passion, perseverance, patience, and money to get good equipment. Not only hit the shutter at the right time and moment, but also the perception, composition and color coordination plays a major role, too. The aesthetic and compositional prowess is applied to the creative concepts of Raulito “Jojo” Seriña’s photography. He is naturally a gifted photographer from Davao that goes through a countless years of learning and hardship to achieve a remarkable standard in photography. Started his photography back in 2009, Jojo did hid did his first work which in landscapes. Then, he went into wedding and fashion photography because it earns a lot. “I didn’t really pursue my photography because I have no money to buy my gear. But after I graduated and had a work then I was able to save up money and buy a camera. That’s when my passion in photography rolls out,” he admits. A sucker for travels, he has been around 42 countries in the world. Lost his count into cities he’s been to. His purpose is to see the world and meet new people, learn from the culture if the others, and more likely to understand better of what life is.
A more versatile business person, Jojo does business during his college to support his studies. And later on, he went back to his hometown, Cagayan de Oro, where to put up a restaurant and a boutique specialized in men’s cloth. He also does graphic design and web development. The need to use photo software programs allows Jojo to prepare and edit images he captured. Since he graduated in computer engineering, to do graphic design is a good background in doing his photography. There are photographers who like Jojo, also admits being more into self-taught. With this, they transform and make it a business. “I think my creativity helps me a lot to become a photographer.” The greatest test for a photograph is when the two-dimensional image imbedded in its fibers that can stand the test of time. Jojo believes that the paper itself may fade one day, but the memory of the photographs, never. The style of photography Jojo wants are casted to be the youth’s favourite. Most of the youth today loves to take pictures, they are the ones who snap photos and post it on social media. Nevertheless, as for Jojo, photography showcases the creativity and artistic side of an individual. Some people are born to have their own creativeness while some people can learn how to be creative. With patience and perseverance, everything will fall into its right place.

The rhythm
of a masterpiece
The Exporters fascinated the Cebu’s dance floor what with its young mind and is making its way to the top, one dance move at a time. Words by: RIZA LAPAZ
Like the heart rises as songs began, a matrix of variations lingers into the soul: a groove, a movement, a step. Whatever it is, it’s somehow beautifully plotted. Like a story with characters, it has emotions and twist of fate. In the limelight of the centerstage was where the battle begins. It was where efforts, sweats, and tears collide—an explicit epitome of destiny for performers. And in the Queen City of the South, a renowned group of dancers seemed to captivate the attention of many, manoeuvring movements of inspiration and passion, evolving to be the finest team, The Exporters. A team composed of young, well-oriented, and talented choreographers exported from the different dance crews in Cebu City, joined forces to form a formidable group was where The Exporters started. Grooving their way since 2010, the group was the first conjugated by Rovel Orlanes, founder of the team and a student of the University of San Carlos- South Campus. The formation of the group all happened on a spur of moment; it began when few dancers were in need for a dance tribute for the school principal— a coincidence that took the leap of fate towards a dream. Since then, the team chivalrously contended to various inter-school competitions claiming bittersweet victories and stumbling in the process as well.
38
Thousands of stars elapsed and seven years have ticked away, but only in the mid-year of 2016, The Exporters had consistently topped tournaments reaching its peak of
evolution and reputation. Keeping the goal in mind, they are in the pursuit of three things: having a concert of their own, maturing and developing hand in hand, and inspiring the youth aspired these talented dancers to keep moving forward. Practicing till dusk, dancing through the rhythm in harmony of complicated steps became the avenue of ripening the creativity within the team. An art of involving gruelling practices, calluses on one’s feet, sore muscles, bedazzled costumes, and lots of aggressive competitions has long been an accepted destiny. In fact, in the process of dance concepts, the team brainstormed ideas and voted for the best one to be used for competitions. In the present time, The Exporters was led by the head choreographer Ryan Canda, a man bravely guiding the team as a pillar of inspiration. Numerous titles then were gained by The Exporters, vividly making a mark in the dancing industry. Champion in I Project Element Experienced Season 7, So You Think You Can Dance TC Season 3, and Robinsons Galleria Hip Hop Revolution 2016 were just some of the copious competitions these dancers successfully conquered. Right now, The Exporters was one of the best dance crews in Cebu; earning the well-deserved respect of the populace. Not to mention the recently won titles of being the Music & Motion Champion 2017 in the College Division and ranking 19th out of 28 dance crews all over the Philippines in the concluded World of Dance Competition held in UP Theatre, Quezon City last March 4, 2017.

The hustle and bustle of Monday immediately fills the atmosphere. Traffic chooses no prey – whether it was 10 in the morning or 6 in the evening. Cars, jeepneys and taxis are neck to neck with a distance that no one could pass through. Rain started pouring in and the agony of waiting for the traffic light to signal a ‘go’ seemed almost like an eternity. With all the negativity and commotion draining in, Clare Sanchez Inso remains to be pristine, well-poised and full of positivity as she talks about her movement, advocacy and plans.
for the first take. Picture-perfect was indeed an understatement to describe her. One would not have guessed her character and personality. Clare may look like she has proved to be far more than what people see of her. She entails so much confidence; not just merely a girl with a pretty face but a girl with brains, passion and an ambition.
Pretty, perfect and pink
As she sits down ready to be dolled up, one could not stop admiring on what a beauty this 18 year old is perfectly arched eyebrows, refined jaw line and a sweet yet subtle smile. When asked about her hair color, she jokingly states “It has been long dead,’’ revealing her quirky and spontaneous side.

Though the day was rather gloomy because of the pouring rain, Clare’s always ready-andgraceful self illuminates the studio as she is set
Pretty, perfect and pink – it takes 3P’s to describe the world’s most famous doll. Unknowingly true, every little girl calls their dolls a Barbie, regardless if it comes from the company Mattel or not. And just like every little girl in the world, Clare wanted to be just as glamorous as the pretty doll in pink – Barbie. “It’s a childhood aspiration to be that kind of girl that made me stare every time she passes by”, she says. Barbie has been known to be a standard image for little girls – a girl should be pretty and love the color pink.
Growing up, she says that the circumstanc-
the political party she is a part of. In fact, during one of their grand rallies she was asked of this question ‘If you’re an advocate, you should have done something in the past and in the present to contribute to your advocacy. What have you done so far?’
It has become a part of her vision to change the outlook of society towards Barbie. She believes that by embodying the Barbie persona, she can make a difference in what’s ideal to the city and someday, hopefully, to the whole world.
At that moment she shares, that she was so triggered. She says because the question was directed to her when the questions should be addressed to all council candidates. With utmost confidence she answers. “By letting the councilors know that it’s a stigma of mental issues to be broken.”
es in her life, along with her family’s upbringing, taught her that she should be more than just pretty. People should look beyond a face. “What is ideal isn’t only pleasing to the eyes”, she added.
Barbie may have set standards for the society, but for Clare, the ideal girl isn’t simply looks, “She’s passionate and ambitious – someone every little girl should look up to.” Is it possible to see a woman so dainty to be fearless on what she believes in? Clare proves so. It’s no shocker she won as one of the councilors in her school, University of San Carlos, recent student council elections. Armed with an advocacy and platform, she believes that mental health is something that should not be overlooked. She wishes to not only raise awareness but also reinforce existing facilities in her school especially the health clinic and guidance office through her new platform, ‘Okay Ra Ka?’ “I was driven to work on the platform since I was diagnosed with depression two years ago,” she says. She wishes to incorporate awareness through art and activism. “It will start with USC first, but the real aim is to bring it nationwide - if possible”, she added. Clare empowers her advocacy through social media. Her bio on Facebook goes by the tagline, “I dare to stand”, which is in reference to
She says that as a student advocate, she seeks her own ways to address the issue on extrajudicial killings since the war on drugs can be related to mental health. Her advocacy doesn’t just stop there. She also upholds women’s rights against gender discrimination. Considering herself a feminist, she expressed that she dislikes catcalling and name-shaming against women. Standing with pride on what she believes in, Clare has once again shown that first impressions don’t always seem to last and that, with utmost certainty, includes her. She is the epitome of an ideal girl who does not only embody the likes of a pretty face but with something far more than that – passion, pride and positivity.
“She’s passionate and ambitious – someone every little girl should look up to.”

In a field dominated by veterans and are swamped
by aspirants, one designer casts new light and calls Cebu’s modern fashion scene to attention. With classic cuts sewn into feline silhouettes, John Rio Pria slowly builds a label. In a corner, bent over a piece of paper and a pencil is where you’ll find young Pria, sketching his idea of a beautiful woman, in a dress designed by himself. “Growing up, I was the kid you’ll see in the corner of an empty classroom sketching long legged amazons with sparkly dresses.” Influenced by the likes of Karl Lagerfeld, this fledgling artisan slowly honed his fashion tastes. However, this ardent young creative took long to realize his sartorial dream. With a course chosen by his parents, Pria chose to be a good son. He strived hard and fulfilled his parent’s dreams for him, “My parents were being practical,” he said. ”They can’t afford to finance my fashion studies so I have to work hard for it,” he added. On 2014, he graduated from the University of Cebu-Banilad with a degree in Human Resource and Management. Still with the dream passionately burning in him, he immediately worked on having his vision in fabric.
Making Making Labels Labels Fashion serves as Pria’s crown of his dreams- it’s sparkling and dazzling as he goes through and continue his desires in making such wonderful couture. words by: Paul john yu

With the help of people who he share the same interests with, Pria began realizing his designs. He started designing clothes for his sister, a challenge he took with confidence but with immense passion and dedication “I’ve always loved dressing her up so she was one of the few people I shed my creative juices with,” he said.
Getting inspiration Going back to his roots, Pria yields inspiration from the industrial aesthetic of the city, creating urban realist pieces fitted for the edgy androgynous women of Cebu, “I grew up in the city…As a young designer we always ensure to highlight our culture and where we come from,” he explained. His work speaks of machismo befitting a femme bodice, “Im inspired by all the women in general. I design for all the strong independent women who are unafraid to express their masculinity,” he added. The city may be concrete and tangible yet Pria also sees vision at passive haste “Im inspired by how fast paced today’s youth is. How everything is so handy and relax,” he said this while constructing an ensemble, in his mind,

for the youth of today. “A simple structured blouse with a pair of long wide pants,” is what he would dress today’s young she, “Im all about comfort and class considering how fast pace the youth are, we need to be fashionably comfortable in everything we wear,” Pria philosophizes.
As a budding designer John Rio Pria’s strong and emboldened creations did not take long enough to flourish. A year after he began designing fervidly, stylists from Manila started eyeing his creations. At 23-year old, Pria has dressed a number of celebrities; wearing his creations to formal events, parties and fashion editorials. Actress Shaina Magdayao, singer-songwriter Kz Tandingan, Miss Earth 2015 Angelia Ong are only a few of the women he has dressed. Although he has placed couture at the back of renowned people, Pria had his best creation, by far, fitted for his first muse. A creation he made special for his sister’s debut, “the ball gown that I created for my sister’s birthday. I received a ton of compliments for how good the dress was.” A black ball gown draped to the floor embellished in intricate details was one of Pria’s most treasured creations, a product of brotherly love and pure talent. At present, “A young artist full of dreams,” is what he is and he sees himself in the future with “a lot of known people under my name,” he huffed with true youthful swagger and confidence. Ingrained and time-honored designers may have sewn their names on people’s minds but John Rio Pria, propelled by his dreams of establishing a name for himself, continues to rivet epithets in the local fashion scene, one tailored pantaloons, at a time.

The Youth’s Image Living in this pretentious world is an ultimate challenge for the youth, building and creating an image brand is one. WORDS BY: IMARIE MADARIETA anyone can go viral in a single click. A person’s popularity can rise as easily as it falls back down on the internet. It is rather amazing how a million series of codes can contribute to one’s creating an image to such a tremendous extent. However, a lot of young professional who has a grip of what their self-image are consider this misconception as a part of actually getting in to process of creating an image in the society. The youth these days is capable of creating an image for themselves in so many different ways. An image is a precious gold in these times of the millennial. Yes, you read it right; an image has become a big ticket to establish one’s worth. According to psychology, having a broad knowledge of one’s image in society is a positive thing as image is not realized until it is great or until it is horrible. However, young people these days are often “too concerned” of how the people react and see as it hinders from doing what they should be doing. Furthermore, the mind set of young people have become too focused on rising to popularity. With the advent of social media, creating an image of oneself for the world to see is easy. Young people still struggle for the fear of accidentally creating a “bad” image or worse, not at all. Sometimes, because it’s so easy, a lot of youths only focus on making an image to become popular. The media somehow manipulate the youth to self-consciousness and uncomfortably nervous by what other people think about them. Internet blogging, online based businesses, Youtube-ing, and so on are the most popular ways to carve one’s image—almost
Knowing what the current image can make way for using it to create (or recreate) the image that they desire. Use what other think as a stepping stone of a way to correct what one dislikes. Criticisms may be harsh but if said in a constructive manner, it helps one to grow as a mature person. Most youth care too much of how they may interact to others in order to avoid flaws pointed out. To make an image is a road to self-discovery and not to the enticing shadow of popularity. No matter how rough or smooth they nurture a desired image; if they’ll just remain being true to oneself and towards others, then it just proves that they engrave their own masterpiece well.
THE ADDICTS ADDICTS THE Social Media is endued with vast power. It can shape young minds to adopt technology so much and life innovations that might be unhelpful for them. One just needs a well balanced and a composed mind to help youngsters battle the addicting social networking approach. WORDS BY: SAMANTHA ANDO Have you tried some of Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook‘s addicting plays that drive you to hit the like button? Why not dare to see of how youth nowadays has been addicted to Social Media? Well, who would not love, wow, and haha, if you can savor the interesting flavors of someone’s photo or video in your newsfeed as you go and scroll along? Yes, sometimes its jaw dropping to see a diverse and aesthetic look, allure, and aura of your friends whenever they upload some of their faces. Some say it’s for fame, but others would say it’s just a plain entertainment. The growth of social media in recent years has great benefits for youth especially in education, communication, and world globalism. But social media with its mental and physical consequences and the easy exposure of pornography were one of the serious concerns that each youth was constantly battling even up to this day. Social Media Addiction can cause too much damage of a person. Look into these insights. You can really observe that most teens are on their phones every single minute of the day- in school, in bed at night, in doing homework, and the most ridiculous part was when they go to the bathroom. Teenagers engage in some form of social media; put up some filters and post stories about their everyday living here on earth. They allow distracting themselves
from engaging in the beauty of being natural and being in the real world. The addiction of teen to social media have the most nagging desire to check updates, write statuses, share pictures, or engage social media world in some way. In fact, they’re often much more interested to participate in the online world than they are in the real world. They inhabit with actual people having real conversations and in undergoing real experiences. Spending hours on social media and losing sleep were all signs of social media addiction. There was a vast difference of staying up to complete chores or tasks and staying up to make sure one does not miss a single minute of anything being uploaded to social media. Lack of sleep was common to all youngsters for they want to finish what they watch, read and play on their computers or android phones. One major victim of this cause was getting a head bang all the time during classes. Teens whose life was affected negatively because of social media needs to step back and take a good look at their lives and get their priorities straight and right.
