Brigidine College is a Catholic Girls School in the inner Brisbane suburb of Indooroopilly. The school follows the example of St Brigid – ‘a woman of vision and courage, who actively challenged the social, political and cultural structures of her time.’ It is committed to the education and empowerment of young women. The project encompasses two new buildings, a Science and Technology Centre directly aimed at fostering knowledge in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), and an Administration Building which will form a new ‘front door’ to the campus. The campus is sited over a steep hill that descends sharply down to the sites of both new buildings. The Administration Building is treated as an insertion such that its roof is a garden terrace that extends the campus’ plateau level. The L-shaped two storey building is entered via a loggia to a courtyard that rises to the plateau as an outdoor amphitheatre. Within the building, the foyer is a naturally ventilated internal courtyard which also acts as a breezeway to existing buildings on the other (southern) side. The Science and Technology Centre is a 4 level building, the lower two being carparking for teachers, the middle two comprising classrooms and upper level containing science laboratories. It is reached via a bridge at Level 3 that connects into the plateau level, forming a new pedestrian spine through the campus. At its western end, an outdoor amphitheatre extends up from open space to the lower classroom level. An auditorium rises up to the next level, it being openable to act as a general pedestrian staircase when not in teaching use.

One approach to share the way we experience the world is through the creation of abstract expression of ‘Art’. The term ‘Energy’ is merely a rational definition of the matter in phys-ics, and we create that to power the way we live our modern life. After receiving the brief, the reoccurring question we keep asking ourselves was ‘how can we merge the two into one’? The creation that we want to achieve must be more than a power generating sculpture. To marry the two ideas into one, a medium is needed in incorporating equal amounts of both worlds. We believe ‘Space’ is the answer – a three-dimension-al expanse which is free, available and unoccupied, allowing art to dance with energy in the intermedium of space. We approached the St Kilda Triangle from the three perspec-tives identified above: art, energy and space. The issues and opportunities were investigated for the design to activate the underutilised area indeed and benefit the surrounding com-munity. The master-plan is redesigned to suit our ideologies while maintaining its original intention, functions and regions

This scenario is formed by a trail that goes along and in between residential blocks, creating new green ground. This trail retains characteristic wild planting between the block and could be a park laneway (shortcut). This minor intervention will provide community with share playground, better public life and a better engagement for the Greenslopes community. The beauty of the minor intervention to streets lies with its local character created by the continuously changing cross sections varying spatial relations between street front, driveway and new installation. The Greenslope District is no longer merely a circulation zone, but it is filled with urban life, being reformulated with modern artistic installation, but also preserving the small-district cosiness. A key aim of the landscape proposals is to create a green network of public and semi-private open green spaces. The is programmed to be an area where residential can be engaged with the board community For more information of the intervention strategy refer to ECO-STSTEM page.

THE FOOT GARDEN STRATEGY IS TO PLACE AN EASEMENT ON THE RESIDENTIAL LOT AND ENFORCING GREEN FOOT/BIKE PATHWAY.

The brief requries a light-weight structure for the liverpool pavilion. It will accommodates simple functions: an exhibition space and cafe space. The site is located on the downtown of Liverpool city. It acommodates the most busy pedestrian flow. The main idea is to design a forest-like sumer pavilion in the site, which provides a leisure space for the citizens and gives the vistors a feeling of walking through a forest.

stage 1 - natural form research in the research stage, the concept started from studying the reptile skin structure, marking a series of models to understand the logic in this biological form, and transfering the struture into possible builidng strategy.
stage 2 - design stage The brief requires a light-weight structure for the Liverpool Biennal Temporary Pavilion (Jul. to Oct. 2016). It will accommodates simple functions: an exhibition space and cafe space. In this stage, the strategy is to apply natural form structure (reached from the research stage) to the real site.
38
39
Natural Form Research Excepted for the head, snakes have imbricate scales, overlapping like the tiles on the roof.
Prototype A
Inspired by the texture of snake skin, it is intended to create a smiplied flexible pattern that could be easily applied to various forms, but will also be strong enough to act as a a primary or secondary structyre.
For prototype A, each 4L shaped strip consistes of even number of units in each side.
8 4L shaped strip scaled down in proper sequence consists of the whole structure.
Primary structure in green and secondary structure in purple.
Research Stage 2 Model development & material exploration Based on te precedent study, we created a pattern using a softer grid to explore structure., texture, light and shadow qualities of the created space. A exprimental pgysical model was made with cardboard. In stead of folding, the strips are bent in moulding in orider to keep the load path. Besides, Plywood is believed to be the main material for real construction due to its ductlity and lightweight.
In this case, the colors of the corner units on each side are the different. As a result, the sturcture has two supports. Prototype B
Research stage 1 Paper draft model to imtate the natural form. Snakes also have many other specialised scales, either singly or in pairs, occuring on the head and other regions of the body. Sometimes there is a special row of large scales along the top of the back of the snake called the vertebral scales. It acts like a structure of the whole skin. The designed pattern consists of series of interlocking stripes that are bent at certain points alternate along their length. The gaps between the units would allow natural ventilation and sunlight, but could also be closed off to create a shelter if required.
40
For prototype B, each 4L shaped strip consists of odd number of units on each side.
9 4L shaped strip scaled down in proper sequence consists of the whole structure.
Primary structure in green and secondary structure in purple
In this case, the colors of the corner units on each side are the same red. As a result, the structure has four supports.
41
The structure prototype A reached from the research stage is used as one unit of the pavilion. Each unit covers another. In this way, they will be connected and be strenthened by each other. The repeating units consists of the mian roof structure of the pavilion that covers functional space.
