low key Introduction

Secret space

Through out all my projects and research I have developed a better understanding of interior space and architecture. Architecture has many ways of expressing emotion, space, confusion and contrast.

On the other hand interior can set the mood, the feel and also play tricks on the mind. For my exam I will create something that I can visualise, be motivated to create and have all this shown from many different angles through drawings, archi cad and photos of my models.

In reaction to the brief, I will be creating an obscured space. This space will be a youth centre, where people not only teens can come and enjoy the facilities in one building, which I think there aint enough of.

Location - Regents park Camden Town is probably one of the most visited areas in London. This area has easy access to and is filled with art even on buildings.

Camden Town is known and remembered for its craziest buildings. This inspires me to create a structer to be commercial and exciting on the outside as well as the inside without it seeming overdone. I have chosen my location to be at Regents Park as it is known and highly visited area, it’s also located near London Zoo and Camden town. Art is also highly expressed throughout Camden Town which I will include into my work.

Vent Vert Vent Vert is an urban site, a tall office building in the Minato section of Tokyo, Japan built in 2012. It is built as a residential aparment and as a commercial office space. The exterior of the building is a faรงade of greenery

Dragspelhuset This house is an extension is to an original cabin dating from the late 1800’s. This building is located in Glaskogen, Sweden. This building is a natural structure, with a wooden exterior to blend in with the outside enviroment as it’s located in the forest area next to a lake. The bulding itself is adaptable to any weather season. I find this house interesting as it is very much obscured, just by looking at it you only see a building. However, it has many forms not just one. In the summer the building changes its form as the building would expand, giving you a wide and open space to breath in mother nature. In the winter the cabin would be pulled back in, no more than it is allowed, for a warm and cosy feel. The windows of this extension cabin are also hidden, this makes the cabin blend right in with natures surroundings, as it appears to just seem like a big granite rock. The other positive side of why I am fasinated by this cabin is also because the cabin is almost CO2 free design, enviromental footprints are small. Cooking gas is by propane gas, heating is powered by a wood-fulled stove, the cabin is reached through the natural paths through the forest, it was built from certified wood only, the stream is used for bathing water, this water is then heated by a underwater wood stove and all lighting is powered by solar panels. These enviromental key features I will interpret into my work as it is enviroment friendly and helps keep our carbon footprint down.

House in Muko This house was built for a family located in Muko, Japan. The structure of this house is simialr to an everyday appliance, fan shaped. The curved area of the road, which the building is placed in, is a contrast between the geometrical lines of the building between the curve of the road. This buildings angled wooden louvres filter in natural sunlight as well as it also provides privacy with the outside world without declining any sunlight in.
