MANIFESTO MANIFESTO

This zine is about Fashion in Mexico, I chose this topic because personally I’ve Heard

how people think that Mexico is not a good place to do fashion or how Mexico has no

fashion; and that is not even close to reality. Mexico does have fashion and now days the

industry is growing a lot, in levels that we are starting to get recognize internationally

for it.

In this fanzine, I´m looking forward to show to the readers a few of the top Mexican

designers in the country today, some of the brands that are emerging and getting

Mexico you will know now.

This zine is suitable for Mexican people that wants to know a little bit about fashion in

GET TO TO KNOW: KNOW: JOHANNA GET JOHANNA IÑIGUEZ MARIN IÑIGUEZ MARIN

She studied design in Guadalajara, Mexico and later studied Fashion Marketing in

New Zealand; her style is defined as something functional, different and feminine.

For Johanna, fashion has always been part of her life, since she was little she

played with her clothes making "interventions", altering the cuts and transforming

the pieces to reach the look she had in mind for a party or meeting. The designer

said that despite studying design she never thought about being a fashion

designer; "I am a creative and sensitive person, I love going beyond what I see, feel

and think. I believe that both personal and work experiences naturally led me to the

fashion path. "

Regarding whether if it has been difficult for her to be in the Mexican fashion

industry and her perception of it, she commented: "It has been very difficult, but it

is like everything, you learn from experiences. You need to be focus on what you

really want to achieve and move forward; Respect your creative process, essence

as designers and, above all, value our work and who supports us. "

In addition, the designer said that considering fashion as a business in Mexico has

a lot of potential, the missing thing is the maturity of the market to consume the

Mexican product, however, she believes that in recent years the consumer's

confidence in them has improved considerably.

Her brand ThousandPonies has a minimalist concept, with a clean and simple

design, they experiment with the patterns and the assembly of the pieces that

seek to transmit the safety and elegance of

woman; The name of her brand has an

emotional meaning, she mentions that the reason why she selected the name was:

"Love of horses and everything that comes with it. I just wanted something

different; perhaps difficult at the beginning to remember but then ... once

understood, it will be harder to forget. "

Something that she enjoys in her career is to meet new clients and hear from their

mouths the comments of her work, it doesn´t matter if it´s good or bad, because

she believes that all this is to evolve; something that she loves is the creative

process; (campaigns, seasons) set new challenges, constant movement and new

ideas.

When asked about her fashion icon, she commented that she does not have a

specific one, because she admires all the icons that mark and create changes in

the fashion industry, since she considers that each one has something special,

regardless of style. "This is art and everyone must learn and take what is good".

Johanna plans to expand her brand and be able to discover new markets as well as

her needs without losing the essence of the independent design of

ThousandPonies.

Undoubtedly, the designer is offering a new proposal with which many will be

delighted, her interest and taste for fashion have led her not only to create her

own brand but also to create an event where Mexican designers can exhibit their

pieces exclusively, which is called The Last Rack, a

Mexican fashion outlet.

If you want to know more about this brand you can find them in social media like
