JEWELRY DESIGN PROJECTS
The following sketches are the result of the different projects that were assigned at GIA. Most of the projects were inspirations from different studies such as the Art Nouveau movement, Edwardian Era and Art Deco styles. Some were literal inspirations and others were conceptual. Moreover, throughout these drawings, different techniques of different jewelry types were illustrated such as necklace sets, bracelets, rings, tiaras and earrings.

Invisible COLLECTION
The Invisible Collection is handcrafted from 18k yellow or rose gold, casted in two flat loop shapes connected by a shank, and set with a natural stone in the center. When worn on the finger, the ring looks like it has an “invisible” shank since itʼs floating on the finger while the shank is actually hidden. It can be worn as a stand-alone piece or matched with its pendant which also floats on the neckline.

June
COLLECTION
The June Collection is based on the lucky birthstones of June. Pearl, representing purity, is the most traditional gem for June, along with moonstone and alexandrite. This delicate pearl choker creation is crafted from fine chains of 18k yellow gold and is detailed with a central hoop thatʼs embelished with a string of creamy white freshwater pearls. It's a dazzling option for an evening out, but it also works for the day, just let it peek from the collar of a crisp shirt and see.

This flat round bead shows the natural shimmer and delicate finish that make mother-of-pearl such a feminine and classy material for a necklace. The mother-of-pearl is supported by two yellow 18k gold strips to hold and protect it and hung on a delicate gold chain necklace
The cross is set with six moonstone cabochons selected for their uniform translucent whiteness, which stands out against the rich gold setting. The transparency of the moonstones have a bluish iridescence that makes the stones glow. This extraordinary pendant can be worn with a choker or simply a matinee necklace chain.

Mar Mikhael Museum
SENIOR PROJECT
Published
PROJECT TYPE: ADAPTIVE REUSE: CULTURAL HUB DATE: SPRING 2016 LOCATION: MAR MIKHAEL, BEIRUT, LEBANON HISTORY & ANALYSIS: The Laziza brewery was the oldest brewery in the Middle East and the first local beer producer in Lebanon in 1931. But after closing its doors in 1995, it has been abandoned ever since. Nowadays, it represents a symbol of Mar Mikhaelʼs industrial past. Recently, 2 of the 3 factory builds are being deconstructed for a new project and the third one which is the chosen plot is located between 2 public stairways leading from Mar Mikhael to Ashrafieh. The intervention was to open accesses from the Ashrafieh road to Mar Mikhael throught the project and enhance the circulation for the pedestrians.

LAZIZA BREWERY
MAR MIKHAEL
The structure of the building is kept, but the interior functions have been divided into 3 different blocks. Thereʼs an addition of bridges, voids and extensions within the project connected to the surrounding. The main facade of the building is kept to preserve its identity, but the openings are rearranged according to the inner functions and the amount of light needed for the different spaces. The back extension and the additional upper floors, however, are treated in a contemporary style. 32
Program & Intervention The main function is a cultural hub, a place where people of Mar Mikhael will meet for social events, art exhibitions, and recreational activities. The users, however, will be artists and craftsman that already exist in Mar Mikhael. The visitors will experience the history of Mar Mikhael and the Laziza brewery through art. The ground floor is a public plaza connecting the urban corridors together within the project, floors 1-3 are different kinds of exhibitions related to art, history, and culture, along with workshops, education and performance halls. The upper floors are entertainment areas such as beer tasting, microbrewery tour, restaurant and bar. The public theatre on the roof of the extension building is also a public promenade which connects with Ashrafieh.

9TH OISTAT THEATRE ARCHITECTURE COMPETITION 2015 Competition Catalogue: http://www.oistat.org/Item/list.asp?id=1508
Selected Entry For Exhibition & Other Mentions
PROJECT TYPE: ARCHITECTURAL COMPETITION DATE: SPRING 2015 LOCATION: HOLZMARKT, BERLIN, GERMANY TEAM MEMBERS: PAULINA ZAKARIAN, RALPH KARKAR, PAUL BOGHOSSIAN JURY MEMBERS: TIM FOSTER (CHAIR), ANNE MINORS, JEAN-GUY LECAT, XAVIER FABRE, SCOTT GEORGESON, PIETER DE KIMPE, REINHOLD DABERTO COMPETITION BRIEF: The OISTAT Competition (International Organisation of Scenographers, Technicians and Theatre Architects) is an international competition organized every 4 years and aimed at students and practitioners. The theme for the competition was to design a floating theatre at a particular location on the river Spree in Berlin, but capable of being moved to other sites on the river when required. The theatre will provide a performance space for an audience of 200-300 people and backstage accommodation for a cast of no more than 20 performers. Facilities for the audience should be located on the land to be temporary and easily moved to another location.
The Möbius Strip
CONCEPT & ANALYSIS: The analysis was derived from understanding the site conditions, and the circulation of the people in this area known as the Holzmarkt. The objective was not only to drag people inside the project, but to create an architectural landmark and a theatrical facility that adds value to the area by creating enjoyable theatrical performances on the shore of the river Spree. The concept emerged by the thought of the river being a constant flow, inspired by the characteristics of the Möbius Strip which developed into having one element that envelopes all the functions, creating a light structure that cantilevers above the river and offers one dynamic element that defines the volume of the project. 35

Food & Wellness Club YOUNG ARCHITECTS COMPETITION 2015
PROJECT TYPE: ADAPTIVE REUSE: WELLNESS CENTER DATE: SPRING 2015 LOCATION: BOLOGNA, ITALY CONCEPT & ANALYSIS: The Food & Wellness Clubʼs aim is to offer a wellness area for those visitors who are willing to discover both nutrition and body care. The challenge was to blend architecture, food, relax, wellness and seasonality. Moreover, the aim was to build a contemporary, ecofriendly design and a notable piece of architecture capable of offering a multisensory, unique experience to its users. Since the site is located in an industrial zone, the project is surrounded by heavy concrete walls which are almost like barriers between the road and the project to insure privacy for the users. Thus, the project is secluded from the noise pollution and offers serenity and the waterfall fences also guarantee the noise buffer from the industrial context and provide a soothing water sounds instead.
