A surprise for Mary Mary lived in the town of Nazareth. She was going to marry Joseph, the carpenter. One day an angel appeared in Mary’s house! ‘Don’t be afraid!’ said the angel. ‘God has chosen you to have a very special baby – God’s own son! You will call him Jesus.’ Mary sang a song of praise to God for choosing her to be the mother of the baby Jesus. She was happy to do whatever God asked her to do.

Mary visits Elizabeth Mary wanted to tell her cousin Elizabeth the news about her new baby. She set off to see her in her home in the hills. Elizabeth was quite old, but she was going to have a baby too! ‘Hello, Elizabeth!’ called Mary when she reached Elizabeth’s house. Elizabeth felt her baby jump for joy in her tummy! Elizabeth knew that Mary’s baby would be very special. ‘You are very special, Mary,’ said Elizabeth, ‘because God has chosen you to be the mother of his Son.’ Soon afterwards, Elizabeth’s baby was born. They called him John. When he grew up, he was going to have a very important job – telling people about why Jesus had come. Talk about

Mary is looking for Elizabeth’s house. All the houses look the same, but Elizabeth’s house has a goat outside it. Put a tick beside the right house.
