Biography / Saints

Those willing to get to know John will find that his depth and seriousness are matched by his joy and honesty… John stands out among the saints as one who meets people where they are and speaks from his own experience of the beauty and messiness of life. Renowned for his mystical poetry and his insights on the “dark night of the soul,” Saint John of the Cross is one of the greatest spiritual guides to have ever lived. His powerful metaphors—the spiritual life as scaling a mountain and the relationship of the soul with God as that of lover and beloved, among many others—have illuminated the journeys of countless Christians. In these pages, discover the very human life of a man through whose example and teaching we can discover the face of Christ in our own lives.
