od sent the Angel Gabriel to bring wonderful news to Mary, a young girl from Galilee. He came to her house and said to her, “Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you. God has chosen you to be the mother of his Son, Jesus, the Savior. The Holy Spirit will come upon you.” Mary accepted, saying, “I am the servant of the Lord.”

ary went to visit her cousin Elizabeth, who was also expecting a baby. When the women hugged, Elizabeth’s baby, John, leaped for joy inside his mother. Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. She understood that Mary’s baby was the Savior. She cried out, “Mary, you are blessed among all women, and your child is blessed.” Mary joyously answered, “The Lord has done great things for me!”
