GENERAL WRITER’S GUIDELINES Pauline Books & Media is the publishing house of the Daughters of St. Paul, an international congregation of women religious serving the Church with the communications media. We publish books on spirituality, prayer, scriptural spirituality, lives of the saints, marian themes, adult faith formation, media literacy formation, themes on the theology of the body, family life, prayer books, and teacher resources. In general we do not publish academic texts, accounts of private revelations, fiction for adults, memoirs, or poetry. (See separate guidelines for books for children.) Before submitting any material to PBM, we encourage writers and illustrators to become familiar with us and our publications by browsing our web site: www.pauline.org Manuscripts are evaluated on their adherence to Gospel values, harmony with the Catholic tradition, originality, style and expression, the writer’s openness to engage with popular culture and our editorial needs. Simultaneous submissions are not favored. Please submit a proposal that includes your vision for the work, your qualifications for writing the book, a comparison to other books on the same topic and why your book is unique, a table of contents which includes an outline and brief description of each chapter, the intended audience, proposed length and projected completion date, and one or two sample chapters. You may mail your submission to the address below, or e-mail your cover letter with proposal, samples chapters, etc., as attached Microsoft Word files to editorial@paulinemedia.com If you choose to mail your manuscript to us and would like it returned, you must provide an appropriately sized, self-addressed, stamped envelope with sufficient postage. If you do not want your material returned, kindly provide an e-mail address so that we may contact you. We make every effort to respond to unsolicited manuscripts within two months.
