OUR EDITORIAL PROCESS If one of our acquisitions editors is interested in pursuing your project, a proposal is brought to the Acquisitions Team which is composed of representatives from the marketing and editorial departments and the publisher. If your work is accepted for publication by Pauline Books & Media, one of our acquisitions editors will contact you. The process toward formal acceptance takes approximately four to six weeks. During this time, an acquisitions editor will stay in contact with you. A contract will be issued through our business office. Here it is well to note that PBM, like most mid-size publishers, pays royalties on net sales. When the contract is signed you will receive our author packet which contains PBM’s Author Guide and a letter from our projects coordinator that introduces our permissions policy. If your manuscript includes quotations from copyrighted materials, the responsibility for obtaining permission from the copyright holders to reprint that material (as well as the payment of any permissions fee) is yours. Our projects coordinator will be happy to assist you with this process as well as indicate which translation of scripture to use for biblical citations. After the formal acceptance of a project an author continues to work with one of our developmental editors for further “polishing” – editing and/or rewriting as needed. In general, it takes twelve months or longer from the time a manuscript is accepted for publication until it appears in bookstores, but your editor will keep you informed of the exact publishing date.
