rank was a big crab in the underwater kingdom. When he would pass by, everyone made sure to step aside to give him way.

ne day, Crank had a bright idea. “It’s my birthday soon. I think I would invite everyone. After all, I am the only one in this kingdom who tells everyone the truth about themselves. Surely, they love and respect me. They would love to come to my party,” Crank thought to himself.

ears began to form in Crank’s eyes. “I’m only like this because I am lonely,” he said. “I say all those nasty things because that is how I feel about myself. My skin is hard. I am not very bright. Hey, I can’t even walk straight,” said Crank in a weak voice. “I try to show everyone that I am tough so they won’t pick on me.” With that, Crank began to sob, and soon he was wailing. “Why doesn’t anybody love me?” he said between sobs. 40
