1st Mystery of Joy The Annunciation Mary hears the message of the angel and says Yes to God’s plan. Bible Reading The angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name him Jesus.” (Luke 1:30–31) (Complete text: Luke 1:26–38) Human Experience Share stories of people who received messages by phone, text, or letter. What did they do? How did they answer? Catholic Truths to Remember (Doctrine) 1) God is the Creator of everything. Explanation 1. Only God can create because to create means to make out of nothing. We make things, but out of what is already there. 2. God created all the things around us: earth and sky, land and sea, plants and animals. 3. God created us, human beings. We are his masterpieces. 2) God, almighty and all-knowing, has a plan for all creation. Explanation 1. God is almighty. He created everything out of nothing. 2. God is all-knowing. Even before he created everything, he already saw everything in place, beautiful, and good. 3. God created everything for a reason. He has a wonderful plan for everything. 20

Mary was completely open to God. She believed in him with her whole mind and heart. She accepted his will and plan. 3. Without hesitating, Mary said Yes to God and his plan, and accepted to become the mother of Jesus, the Promised Savior. Catholic Truths to Live and Celebrate (Morals-Worship) 4) Guided by the 1st commandment, let us proclaim God as our Creator. Explanation 1. The 1st commandment says: “I am the LORD your God. You shall worship the Lord your God and him only shall you serve.” (Ex 20:2,5) 2. Let us adore God, and no one else, and proclaim him as the Creator of everything. 3. Let us thank him for all his blessings, and take care of the world around us. 5) Let us say often and wholeheartedly the prayer: “Glory to the Father…” Explanation 1. Everyday, we are invited to praise God, proclaim how wonderful he is, and give him glory. 2. Through our prayers, especially the Rosary and our Sunday Mass, we praise God. 3. Let us be sincere whenever we say: “Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen.”
