Event preview:
The CWA Grand Prix semi finals have almost concluded, and we’re one step closer to the finals at CW100 where the top Amateur talent in Europe will be crowned. The last key semi-final match-ups take place on October 20th at Cage Warriors’ South East Academy event. The first of these final four bouts sees Ismar Blagoje take on Ashley Amos at lightheavyweight. Blagoje is a Norwegian fighter with an undefeated record of 4-0, two of those wins coming via first round stoppage. Though this bout is at light heavyweight, Blagoje also has a record at middleweight, sitting at number 9 in the amateur rankings in the UK and Ireland. His opponent is Ashley Amos, a Welsh fighter with a record of 2-0. Similar to Blagoje, these two wins are first round finishes that have him elevated him to #21 in the UK and Ireland amateur rankings at light heavyweight.
The next semi-final match-up pits welterweights Jamie Ward and Oban Elliott against each other. Jamie Ward is the 5th ranked amateur fighter in the UK and Ireland at 170 pounds. He has finishes via punches, ground and pound, armbar and 2 triangle chokes with a record of 7-1. He goes face to face with Welsh fighter Oban Elliott who comes in with an unbeaten record of 5-0, making him the 4th ranked amateur welterweight and the 9th ranked lightweight in the UK and Ireland. first round stoppage. With such a closely matched fight, the victor may be decided by the smallest of margins. Ward has several different submission finishes on his resume whilst Elliott’s wins have all come via KO/TKO with one by head kick so this may well be the story of the fight.
He is also ranked 8th in the UK and Ireland at heavyweight as an amateur which could give him an edge in this fight as the bigger of the two.

CWA semi-finals, Colchester
At 135 pounds, Francesco Lo Galbo fights Jack Eglin (6-3) in a fight between the #6 and #3 ranked amateur bantamweights in their regions.
The last semi-final match-up takes place at flyweight and features Muhidin Abubakar and Alex Boyd.
Both fighters are well matched and have a variety of submissions on their record. Jack doesn’t know a lot about his replacement to his other two opponents and that’s it, he’s not fussed about knowing anything he’s just going in there to impose his will and game plan on him.
Abubakar comes into the fight as the favorite with a much higher amateur ranking and a record of 4-1 compared to Boyd’s 2-3. Both fighters are coming into this bout off of losses therefore neither can be taken for granted as both look to capitalize on a big opportunity. We will have more coverage for you leading up to the academy finals at Cage Warriors 100, so stay tuned to Cage Warriors across all platforms.

Charlotte McIntyre:Interview You are currently the CW Academy South East featherweight champion, am I right in thinking you are trying to become the champ champ by adding the bantamweight title to your collection? Yes that’s right. After the last fight me and my coach decided to try bantamweight to see how I feel and then we can decide what weight class to stick to going forward. Also like the idea of being champ champ!
What do you know about your opponent tonight Arziko Bregu and how do you think the fight will go?
We last saw you in action back in April at BCMMA 21, what have you been up to since then? I’ve had a pretty hectic 6 months since BCMMA 21. I finished my Masters Degree in August and have also spent some time travelling. But I’ve been training non-stop throughout this time and was lucky enough to travel to Tristar in Canada for a couple of weeks and Superpro Samui in Thailand.
Last time out at BCMMA 21 you maintained your undefeated record and defended your 145lb title, how did you rate your performance that night and what lessons have you taken away from that fight? I took a lot away from that fight, more so than probably any of my other fights. In MMA there is so much room for error so we have spent a lot of time working on positioning and some finer details that I felt I had issues with in the last fight. Prior to that fight I had never been on my back so to get the submission and to avoid any damage was definitely a good thing I took away from the fight.

I believe she has good stand up but I’m confident that wherever the fight goes I will be dominant. I work with a lot of different coaches to make my game as well rounded as possible and that’s what I believe we are bringing into the cage on Saturday the best rounded version of myself as a fighter.
Finally, do you have any messages for those here tonight supporting you or anyone who has helped get you through your fight camp? All those who fight understand it’s a bit of a roller coaster journey as a fighter and the support we have from coaches, teammates, family and friends means everything. A huge thank you to those who have come down to support me tonight and to my coaches Jack, Brad, Lone’er, Wali, Carlton, Dan, Chris and Carlos. I’ll be going out on Saturday to make them proud. Finally a massive thank you to Cage Warriors Academy South East, you put on a great show every time and managed to find me another opponent late notice. This is why I keep coming back to fight.

Interview:jack eglin We last saw you in action back in April at BCMMA 21, where you fought three times in one night to win the flyweight tournament. Talk us through how you thought that night went? I thought the night went how I expected it to go going in I felt confident and sharp and felt like I was on another level and I showed that on the night.
What would you say was the biggest thing you have taken away from that Experiance and how do you feel it will help you going forward? The biggest thing I’ll take away is that I know if I can do 3 fights in one night that 1 fight is gunna be a lot easier and I know I can push very hard for the 3 rounds.
You are currently the CW Academy South East flyweight champion, but are now jumping up to bantamweight to be a part of the CW amateur Grand Prix. How much of a motivator is being able to compete on a big show to you once you have won tonight? It’s cool but I’m not really dust where I fight every fight to me is just as big as the last it doesn’t matter where or what show it is.
What do you know about your opponent tonight and how do you think the fight will go?
Finally, do you have any messages for those here tonight supporting you or anyone who has helped get you through your fight camp?
I don’t know a lot to be honest he’s a replacement to my other two opponents and that’s it I’m not fussed about knowing anything I’m just going in there to impose my will and game plan on him.
Thankyou all for the love and support and thanks to my teams and sponsors for helping with everything and we are gunna get that win tonight and I can’t wait to put a show on.
