Graphic Communication - Book 2 Drawing on experience... This book forms a collection of work from 2007, it contains infographic illustration and design project examples primarily produced with Ramboll Whitbybird but also with other interesting and often related clients. The over riding aim of the work is aesthetic presentation of concepts and often technical information. My inspiration is drawn from the subjects covered and my past experiences working in visual journalism and publishing illustration. In at least two of these projects what interests and excites me greatly is the knowledge that this work communicates across the constraints of language, technical and complex concepts on projects for public and humanitarian good. Notably, The Rubble House, disaster relief shelter idea and The Equiano Centre, an educational resource centre, Waterloo, Sierra Leonne. A Ramboll Whitbybird collaboration with The Waterloo Partnership. Another area of much interest to me this year has been the sustainability and low energy focused projects. The Zero Carbon House with ESD and a number of reports with ElementEnergy. These study Hydrogen, Fuel Cells and Micro Generation. In all, an exciting year and I’m looking forward to new projects and challenges in 2008, continued relationships with RWB and forging new partnerships, perhaps in the wider Ramboll group. Best regards www.paulweston.info
RWB Solutions Smart design Classic details to process drawings these illustrations communicate the breadth and depth of Ramboll Whitbybird's innovation in design
Spire of Hope, Belfast Cathedral This exploded drawing of the Cathedral shows the edition of a thoroughly modern stainless steel spire which also dramatically extends 15m inside the Cathedral Š 2007 Paul Weston/Ramboll Whitbybird
Rubble house - Gabion formed shelter solution A humanitarian idea, this drawing looks at the components, logistics and construction of a temporary home formed of the wreckage of disaster Š 2007 Paul Weston/Ramboll Whitbybird
Services offered for the construction of onshore wind farms Full service, design and consultancy RWB provide within the process of planning and construction of onshore wind farms. Access issues to structural dynamic analysis. Š 2007 Paul Weston/Ramboll Whitbybird
14 Cornhill, London Engineering the redevelopment of the old Lloyds/TSB headquarters required both sensitivity and audacity to create a viable modern office while avoiding aspects of the structure which are Grade II listed Š 2007 Paul Weston/Ramboll Whitbybird
Improving the quality of space within A process of temporary works were used to remove and replace large masonry columns with slender billet columns Š 2007 Paul Weston/Ramboll Whitbybird
New additions 14 Cornhill, main stair. A thoroughly modern steel and glass structure Š 2007 Paul Weston/Ramboll Whitbybird
Patera Building - Connection Exploded connection drawing shows the relationship between the external portal frame and the steel cladding panels. Š 2007 Paul Weston/Ramboll Whitbybird
Patera Building - Prefabricated building system No complicated site work required in the 10 day erection time for these structures. The external portal frames also provide improved fire protection Š 2007 Paul Weston/Ramboll Whitbybird
British Antarctic Survey Base Scene setting illustration, sectional and plan drawings introduce this ingenious solution to the harsh demands of a snowy, polar environment Š 2007 Paul Weston/Ramboll Whitbybird
British Antarctic Survey Base The modular compression ring structure uses interlocking, stressed skin, plywood panels. Prefabricated and transported to site, these panels facilitated a quick and relatively simple construction phase. Š 2007 Paul Weston/Ramboll Whitbybird
Colorado Dome A glue and clamp process was used to form the structural members of this beautiful vaulted dome structure Š 2007 Paul Weston/Ramboll Whitbybird
