As we were sitting in Father Egon Plaza in the July heat distributing last year’s yearbook, we were struggling to come up with a theme for this yearbook. We truly had no idea how this year would turn out. At the time there was no vaccine the words Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson were not in our daily vocabulary - COVID cases were rapidly spiking during the summer wave, and we were expecting to start the school year on campus. How we were supposed to commemorate a year when we had no idea what was ahead of us? We knew that things would be different in more ways than less. And as we sat in the middle of an empty but serene campus, hearing the birds chirping and the trees rustling against the wind, waving at the occasional teacher or monk driving up campus, and feeling the hot sun bear down on us, the theme was right in front of us. It was the row of evergreen trees that neatly line the senior parking lot. They cover our campus - they are around the labyrinth, along the back path to the tennis courts, behind the dorms, along Portola Road and the road into campus, next to Founders Hall - the list goes on and on. Evergreens shroud our community and isolate us from the harsh world around us, to create our own world where all are welcome and all are valued for their gifts and talents. And thus for this year’s theme, EVERGREEN, we hope to capture the beauty and warmth of the campus that we spent most of the school year away from. This yearbook’s color palette is sampled from the flowers and greenery on campus. All the colors you see in the yearbook, you can see right here on campus. But in addition to representing our campus, this theme has another meaning for this school year. EVER, for the things that never changed here at Priory: the community, our friendships, the undying dedication of our teachers to our learning, to give us the best education out of the toughest circumstances; and GREEN, for everything that has been upended since the pandemic: the senior year experience for the class of 2021, sports seasons, the world. Just as evergreen trees persevere through the winter and keep their leaves, we, the Priory community, have persevered through this time of challenge, pain and struggle. And as we see ourselves out of this pandemic, we will continue to persevere. For a year that has certainly been memorable, we hope this yearbook will do it some justice.

“We’re doing English, and we can make anything up if we have evidence.”
“OG. This means oh gosh, not original gangster.”
“Do people still drink water? Like, is it still around?” by Christina Cheng
special thanks: Peyton Ward, Bobby Youstra
dear Mr. Hatzopoulos, The job description for a high school English teacher includes educating students on prescribed texts, developing writing assignments to accompany those texts, and challenging worldviews that surround certain momentous pieces of literature. While all of those things are important to create a well-rounded high school English curriculum, it is my belief that a teacher’s job extends far beyond that of what is taught in the classroom. Mr. Hatzopoulos, you joined the Priory community as an English teacher the same exact year we, the class of 2021, entered high school as freshman, but our class quickly came to realize that all of us found a mentor, guide and accidental comedian within you. High school is a confusing time that tests all of our abilities to become functioning adults while still holding on to the carelessness that is inevitable with youth, and we as students rely on someone to draw a fine line between carefree childhood and the entrance into adulthood. As I look back on my time at Priory, I remember screaming matches over New York Times mini crosswords to start each class and then a sudden silence as we all pondered the effects of a totalitarian government in George Orwell’s 1984. I also remember inwardly giggling at the PG-13 words on the whiteboard while struggling through a Brave New World reading quiz. Every class had the perfect balance of light-hearted humor and attempting to perfect a work ethic I will need to carry with me throughout the rest of my life. You did not only aim to create good English students, but good people. As we all make the terrifying and exciting steps into the college world, we can be comforted by your chill study beats playlist, your consistent usage of Garamond, and the home that we all have found within your classroom.

new
faculty q&a Get to know Priory’s new faculty! by Christina Cheng and Remy Fu
interviewed November 2020
Amy Harms
Theology Teacher
Director of Learning Support
Before working at Priory this year, what was your experience in education?
“I taught Elementary school for 4 years and high school for 3 years”
How would you describe your first few months at Priory?
“Everyone is so welcoming, and the students I have met are such deep thinkers”
“Unbelievable - I just don’t think I ever could have imagined starting a new job and only “seeing” my colleagues and students via zoom. I'm excited to get to meet the next version of Priory when we are able to get back on campus and be with one another officially.”
“Peaceful, Stimulating, Green”
“Organic, Conversational, Unique”
“I love Benedictine Spirituality, and the values, and the BEAUTIFUL CAMPUS”
“I was ready for a fresh start and was excited about working in a school where community and engagement are prioritized. ” “I think I’m supposed to say the cookies, but I'm really struck by the beauty of the school. It's just so smartly positioned, I love the trees and the garden is hard to beat.”
In 3 words, how would you describe Priory? What attracted you to come to Priory?
“I worked at St. Ignatius for the past 13 years. Prior to that I was a college lacrosse coach at Stanford and St. Mary’s College.”
What is your favorite thing about the Priory campus so far?
“I love the GARDEN!”
If you could create a new class, what would it be?
“Theology of Food and Eating AKA What would Jesus chew?“
“Learning to Learn”
What unique quality have you noticed about Priory students so far?
“Priory students are creative thinkers, they provide new perspectives I never even considered, and are willing to discuss in meaningful ways.”
“I feel as though there is a fierce sense of independence and individuality but our students also know how to self-advocate.”
What are some things that make you laugh?
“I love stand-up comedy! (Dave Chappelle, Ali Wong, Tiffany Haddish, Chris Rock are some of my favorites)”
“Cat videos, quick wit, myself (I think I’m hilarious - others probably disagree) ”
What’s your favorite way to spend a day off?
“I like to go hiking, and pre-Covid, would search for and try restaurants (I can still do this now, but take-out is not the same!)”
“I love a good beach day”
Where would we find you if you could spend a week anywhere in the world and why?
“O, so many places-I love Korea! I would also like to visit Italy for a week. BUT right now, I just watched a food show that took place in the Mississippi Delta, and so my best friend and I are DETERMINED to go one day. ”
What did you want to be when you grow up? What/who is your favorite tv show/movie/artist?

“A CELEBRITY or an OBGYN” “AHHH SO MANY- I will try to narrow it down! Movie- Shawshank Redemption, Love Actually, Thor: Ragnarok. TV SHOWBrooklyn 99, Artist- I love 90s hip-hop and RnB, and I can not choose one artist! But right now BTS is so good- totally a jump from 90’s hip-hop, I know!”
Kate Johansen Dean of Students “I’ve worked in education for nearly twenty years. I started as a classroom teacher... but I eventually found my way to a small boarding school in New Hampshire, and from there I've been working as a Dean of Students in independent schools ever since.” “Challenging, but good.”
“Engaged, Committed, and Thoughtful” “The community. In all my years of education, I’ve learned that a school's community is critical in creating opportunities for success.” “The views. I love being outside here. I also love that it’s not covered in snow!”
“A class about social justice and activism in sports.” “They’re very willing to jump in and get involved. I've loved watching students take the lead on things like spirit week, and movie nights. There is a real desire to engage with the community even in the midst of distance learning.” “My nephew, Henry, age 4, and my niece Maggie, age 2. ”
“Taking a long hike with my dog, listening to a good audiobook.”
“Right now, anywhere that is not home would do. Right now I’d love to be in Italy taking some cooking classes from an Italian Grandma who knows all the tricks. I love cooking and would relish this opportunity to learn from someone in their element” “Well, I have a book from when I was in 1st grade that says a fireman, but in truth I wanted to be a teacher, my dad was a teacher and so that made sense.”
“It depends a little on the time of year, in the winter, I’d say Hawaii; I need that warm sunshine when it's dark and cold in January. In the summer, I'd say Ireland because summer in Ireland is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen.”
“This is a tough one for me, I don’t know about favorites - I think I bounce between so many needs for entertainment. Our house is sometimes listening to Beyonce, but can also put on jazz, Aretha, 80's hits, 90's hip hop...there is a playlist for everything.”
“My favorite TV show of all time is the West Wing, but Parks and Rec is my go-to feelgood show. My favorite musician is Ani DiFranco (although Dessa is a very close second), and my favorite artist is Diego Rivera.”
“A teacher. Truly it’s the only job I ever really imagined myself doing.”

How do you feel your experience in education What attracted you to come to Priory? relates to/supports Priory students? There are so many things about Priory that are I have been blessed to work in three different schools and have taught, coached, served in Campus Ministry, led service experiences, moderated clubs, served as an assistant principal, and a principal so I have experienced many different aspects of a school and have seen how things work in different places. I have a good perspective on how to work with so many different types of students and I am excited to get to know Priory students better!
What aspects of your former school experience would you like to bring to Priory? I am excited to get to know Priory and see how and where my gifts fit. I will work hard, hold myself to high standards, and bring our community together to best serve our Benedictine mission. I believe in the strength of a team and will work to build a strong team to best serve our students and our wider community.
attractive. I love the Benedictine tradition that animates us. Our values have been around for 1500 years and they have literally transformed our world. I am grateful to be part of that tradition! I also love our location in the heart of Silicon Valley, between San Francisco and San Jose, and on the edge of the Pacific Rim. We are blessed to be in one of the centers of our world! Our size of 400 students, our boarding program, and both our middle and upper school are all ideal to give students an amazing experience in and out of the classroom. Finally, our campus is spectacular, the land, the buildings, and the feeling I get when I walk on campus are amazing!
If you could take any of the classes offered at Priory, which would it be, and why?
What are you looking forward to most at Priory going forward?
I am still getting to know the classes we offer and I have never seen anything taught on campus yet as everything has been on Zoom but our art classes like glass blowing and metals are very unique so those look like a lot of fun!
I can’t wait until we are all back on campus and learning and growing together!
Which of your own role models most encouraged/inspired you to become an educator? Growing up, I never thought I would teach, but in my first year out of college I served in a volunteer program and worked with students who really struggled in a traditional classroom. I saw the impact the teachers made on the lives of those students and it motivated me to want to do that. I started teaching a few years after that and have loved every moment in education.

If you could lead a group of Priory students on an international global ed trip, what country/countries would you want to go to and what would you do? I am not sure when we will be ready for international trips, but I believe there is immense value in international travel. We learn about ourselves and others and we are forever changed by the experience. I would love to lead a trip to China and not only see some of the amazing historical sites but also spend time serving and working with people outside the big cities. I would want to incorporate service into the experience as that is such a great way to learn about another part of the world, people that are different than me, and myself.
What is something unique that you’ve noticed about Priory students? I am still getting to know our students and have not had as many interactions with students as I would like, but I am impressed by the kindness and creativity I have seen. From the class representatives and their work to build school spirit to the Chapel talks to students being on campus for enrichment, retreats, sports, H block, it is clear our students are people of character, are confident, and love each other and the Priory.
In 3 words, how would you describe Priory as a community? Humble, generous, caring
What is your favorite thing to do with your family?
Where would we find you if you could spend a week anywhere in the world and why?
We all enjoy cooking (and eating) so my favorite thing to do as a family is to make Sunday night dinner. We spend time choosing a recipe, shopping, and preparing the meal. We sit in the dining room and use the good plates and silverware so that makes it different than the week. The best part are the conversations we have no one is rushed and the meal lasts. I love it!
I am not sure where I would spend a week, but I would spend it with family, my immediate family, and my extended family. I love being around the people that have shaped me and care about me and who call me to be my best and most authentic self.
What is something that you have learned about yourself/others during your first few months at Priory?
What has been the best part of Priory in the first few months?
I have learned that no matter how much planning we do or good intentions we have, we need to be flexible and open to changing and shifting our plans. I have also learned how generous, thoughtful, supporting, and loving our community is. Even before I started, I have felt welcomed and very much part of this special community!
I have enjoyed getting to know some students, some parents, and our faculty and staff. I have met some fantastic people and they are so warm, welcoming, and generous! I have really enjoyed spending time with our Monks Fr. Maurus, Fr. Martin, and Fr. Matthew are amazing!!

faculty and staff
Priory’s faculty started the year out teaching through distance learning at home due to a stay at home order. Teachers were invited back to school in October (with students still learning from home), but were quickly sent back home as the winter COVID spike began. In the spring, Priory’s faculty and staff were able to get the COVID vaccine as educators under San Mateo County’s vaccination plan. In March, every teacher had been vaccinated or scheduled an appointment for a vaccine to safely return to school!

café de la priory by Christina Cheng
Serving food during the pandemic has proven to be a challenge for many places, but not for the Priory kitchen staff! Food Service Supervisor Peter Agoston sent out a weekly menu through a google form and allowed each student to select their lunch preferences. These orders were then fulfilled, and delivered to over a dozen different lunch spots on campus since eating in the dining hall was not an option. Thank you Priory kitchen staff for continuing to feed our stomachs and hearts!

A study from the National Bureau of Economic Research wrote: “Our findings suggest that any direct decrease in social distancing among the subset of the population participating in the protests is more than offset by increasing social distancing behavior among others who may choose to shelter-at-home and circumvent public places while the protests are underway.”

Counties on a state monitoring list could not re-open schools until strict criteria was met, then it would be up to the counties. As a result, Priory announced plans to pivot from on-campus to distance learning instruction for the entire first semester, but would re-open if conditions improved.

Events such as Sturgis motorcycle rally marks summer of COVID-spreading events The Sturgis Motorcyle Rally, an annual motorcycle rally held in Sturgis, South Dakota, continued as planned amid the coronavirus pandemic, with over half a million bikers attending the event. In the weeks following the gathering, South Dakota, North Dakota, Wyoming, Minnesota and Montana lead the nation in coronavirus cases per capita. As the Washington Post wrote: “In many ways, Sturgis is an object lesson in the patchwork U.S. response to a virus that has proved remarkably adept at exploiting such gaps to become resurgent. While some states and localities banned even relatively small groups of people, others, like South Dakota, imposed no restrictions...”

The assessment is based the adjusted case rate and the positivity rate within the county. Various sectors, such as hair salons, retail, malls, places of worship, movie theaters, must close or open with restrictions based on the guidelines and the status of the county. For example, under the purple tier, restaurants could only open outdoors; under the red tier, restaurants could open indoors at 25% capacity/less than 100 people; under the orange tier, restaurants could open indoors at 50% capacity/less than 200 people and under the yellow tier, restaurants could open indoors at 50% capacity. moderate (orange)

With a new academic year, some colleges opt for in-person instruction, leading to outbreaks on some campuses, while others choose to remain online Some universities, such as Stanford University and Harvard University, began the academic year with most students taking classes online, with exceptions for students with special circumstances (and sometimes incoming freshmen), who lived on campus. Schools who returned completely to in-person learning, such as University of North Carolina Chapel Hill and Notre Dame University, faced coronavirus outbreaks as a result of large parties, and were forced to shut down temporarily for online instruction. At the same time, universities faced pressure to bring in tuition and revenue, students at many universities argued for a reduced tuition, as a result of a reduced quality of education - and tuition costs already unreasonable high.
third wave of coronavirus As the cold weather of the fall and winter began, the United States faced a “third wave” begins of coronavirus, following the initial spike in the spring and surge over the summer, as experts warned. The wave was not limited to a particular region, but conditions worsened considerably in the Midwest, in states such as the Dakotas, Iowa, and Wisconsin. Cases, deaths and positivity rates all rose and hospitals were overwhelmed with patients. by Christina Cheng

Congress fails to pass 2nd covid relief bill As COVID cases surged heading into the winter, Congress failed to pass a second round of aid, having not passed any assistance in months. Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Majority Leader Mitch McConnell could not come to an agreement, Democrats wanting around $2T in aid and Republicans wanting around $500B in aid for schools, state and local government, small businesses and direct payments to households. The Republican bill proposed $300/week unemployment benefits, PPP loans and liability protection for businesses. The Democrat bill proposed $600/week unemployment benefits, a $1,200 direct payment, PPP loans and $400B to state and local governments. The FDA gave emergency use authorization to the Pfizer (December 11) and Moderna (December 18) vaccines. The Pfizer vaccine required two doses administered 21 days apart while the Moderna vaccine required two doses administered 28 days apart. After the authorization, vaccines began shipping out, with vaccines first being given to health care workers, nursing home staff members and nursing home residents. Sarah Lindsay, a nurse and director of patient services at Long Island Jewish Medical Center’s ICU was the first person in the US to receive a vaccine.
Moderna and Pfizer vaccines given emergency authorization After the process of developing an effective coronavirus vaccine, states faced challenges distributing and adminstering the vaccine to the public. Confusion over who was eligible to receive vaccines and how to schedule an appointment created logistical challenges. States were not close to administering all their doses given. By the end of January, 6.9% of California’s population had received one dose of coronavirus vaccine and 1.4% were fully vaccinated, receiving two doses. 3,285,351 were administered, out of 5,666,550 distributed - 62% of doses used.

As Joe Biden began his presidency, with a goal of 100 million shots in the first one hundred days, or a rate of a million shots per day, the nationwide vaccine campaign began ramping up. By the end of February, the United States had reached a rate of over 2 million vaccines per day (the seven-day average). To cope with growing demand, Governor Gavin Newsom opened California’s largest mass vaccination site at Levi’s Stadium, home of the San Francisco 49ers (pictured above). FDA temporarily pauses J&J vaccine On April 13, the FDA and CDC recommended that states pause administering the Johnson and Johnson coronavirus vaccine after reports of 6 cases of dangerous brain blood clots, out of the more than 7 million shots J&J shots given out nationwide. During the review, 9 more cases were confirmed, with 3 people dead and 7 people hospitalized (all of them women). After an 11 day review, the FDA and CDC voted to lift the pause, but add a warning about the risk of rare (but severe) blood clots to those who receive the Johnson and Johnson vaccine.

Before Spring Break, all students were back learning in-person with teachers and peers. As part of COVID-19 protocols, all students and faculty were required to receive a weekly negative COVID test at school.
On February 27, the Federal Drug Administration approved the Johnson & Johnson coronavirus vaccine for emergency authorization, the third coronavirus vaccine approved by the government following the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines. The Johnson and Johnson vaccine had several benefits compared to the other vaccines, as it only required one shot (as opposed to two shots), was easier and cheaper to produce and could be stored at refrigeration temperatures for three months.

On March 17, 2021, one year to the day after the Bay Area’s first stay-at-home order, San Mateo County was downgraded again to the lower orange tier after spending three weeks in the red tier. In the orange tier, movie theaters were allowed to open at limited capacity, as well as more indoor dining, shopping mall, gym/recreation center and religious services capacity. San Mateo County had achieved an adjusted case rate of 2.8 cases per 100,000 people and a test positivity rate of 1.1 per 100,000.

Governor Gavin Newsom opens vaccine eligibility to per Governor Gavin Newsom’s March 26 announcement, general population As California opened vaccine eligibility to residents ages 50 and older on April 1 and to all residents ages 16 and older on April 15. “This is possible thanks to the leadership of the Biden-Harris administration and the countless public health officials across the state who have stepped up to get shots into arms,” he said in a statement. As a result, many Priory juniors and seniors were able to get the vaccine in April. On April 6, Newsom announced a plan to tentatively fully reopen the state economy on June 15, provided certain metrics are met, but with a mask mandate still in place.

nov 7: biden & harris declare victory
On Election Night, Nevada, Arizona, Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Georgia, North Carolina, Alaska remained uncalled by most news outlets. Results trickled in over the next several days as states had more mail-in ballots to count as a result of the pandemic. On Friday, November 7, news outlets declared Biden the winner of Pennsylvania, giving him the 270 electoral votes needed to win the presidency. Biden flipped Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Georgia (first time since 1992) and Arizona (first time since 1996) from Trump in 2016. That evening, Biden and Harris gave victory speeches in Wilmington, Delaware at a drive-in rally (a safety precaution as a result of the pandemic).
nov & dec: trump challenges election results in court After spending much of the 2020 presidential campaign insisting the only way he could lose was if the election was rigged, Trump spent November and December claiming (without evidence) of widespread voter fraud. Trump and his lawyers, including Rudy Giuliani (pictured) filed 62 lawsuits trying to overturn election results, of which 61 failed, challenging election laws, vote counting procedures and certification procedures in six main states: Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan, Georgia, Arizona and Nevada. Many cases were dismissed for lacking standing, including by Trumpappointed judges.
jan 6: capitol insurrection
On January 6, a joint session of Congress convened to certify Joe Biden’s victory. Several Republican senators, led by Ted Cruz (R - Texas) and Josh Hawley (R - Missouri) and over 100 Republican representatives, led failed efforts to challenges to the certification of Biden’s victory, supporting Trump’s unsubstantiated claims of voter fraud and a rigged election. The proceedings halted midday as Trump supporters, encouraged by a Trump speech earlier in the day, surrounded then stormed the Capitol, breaching police perimeters. Both chambers and other buildings were evacuated, and some protesters breached Speaker Pelosi’s office and an empty Senate chamber. 5 people died, including one police officer.
jan 20: biden & harris inauguration Joe Biden, 46th president of the United States, and Kamala Harris, 49th vice president of the United States, were inaugurated at a ceremony on the Capitol. Joe Biden became the oldest president in history, and Kamala Harris became the first woman, African-American and Asian-American vice president in history. In his speech, Biden said: “I give you my word, I will always level with you...And together we shall write an American story of hope, not fear. Of unity, not division. Of light, not darkness.. May this be the story that guides us... We met the moment. Democracy and hope, truth and justice did not die on our watch, but thrived.”

Both Warnock and Ossoff won their races, with Warnock becoming the first AfricanAmerican senator from Georgia and Ossoff becoming the first Jewish senator from Georgia. a summer of
racial reckoning by John Max Byrne, Jessica Fathers, Christina Cheng, and Remy Fu
Priory students joined the nationwide Black Lives Matter racial justice protests over the summer of 2020. The protests were prompted by the death of George Floyd, an AfricanAmerican man killed by the police.
why did you decide to attend a protest? 3
“Though I can’t vote, I wanted to express my support for the Black Lives Matter Movement by attending a protest.”
Sahana Singh (12)
“Why would I stand by during a Civil Rights Movement? I have a moral obligation to participate in justice.”
Julianne Lempert (12)
what was your experience at the protest like? “It was terrifying to see the police with zip ties around their belts for arrests, cans of tear gas, batons in their hand, and riot shields. It was hard to know that my 1st Amendment right was being suppressed in the land of the free. ”
Julianne Lempert (12)
“I’ve been to many protests but this one, in particular, was fairly long. We gathered together to first enjoy each other's company, to celebrate black excellence and black joy before we protested for our fallen brothers and sisters. We chanted things like ’Say his name’ and ’Black Lives Matter’. We held up signs and spoke our truth. It was a very powerful and uplifting experience to see how many people came. We shouted until our voices were hoarse and walked until we couldn't take another step. And we did it all again and we will continue to do it until something very fundamental changes in our nation.”
Temilola Sobomehin (9)
“It was quite peaceful actually and I felt calm know I was doing the right thing.”

Middle school athletic seasons were questionable due to the coronavirus, so the athletic department decided to create a middle school sports camp program. The program allowed students to sign up for a different sports every two weeks which also created athletic “social bubbles” for students to remain in. staying active
page by Sophie Curran, Christina Cheng and Remy Fu
Middle school athletic seasons were questionable due to the coronavirus, so the athletic department decided to create a middle school sports camp program. The program allowed students to sign up for a different sports every two weeks which also created athletic “social bubbles” for students to remain in. The sports offered were basketball, volleyball, water polo, cross country, soccer, lacrosse, baseball, and tennis.

Dear Class of 2021, This has indeed been an extraordinary year in so many ways and certainly a challenge to each of you individually and as a class. Wildfires, bad air, killer bees, political and social riots, and political chaos all were part of this year, but this pandemic has touched just about everyone throughout the world. In particular, it has impacted high school graduates because senior year is not what it is supposed to be! However, you, the class of 2021, have demonstrated resilience and flexibility in an extraordinary way and have managed to do it with a smile on your faces. Many believe this was the most challenging year in our history, but we look to you, Priory graduates, educated with our Benedictine values to help us create a new and more evolved normal, a world more just, kind, and beautiful. This year has illuminated the vast systemic inequities that have defined life for too many for too long, and if things are going to get better, it’s going to be up to you. This is your time to seize the initiative. Nobody can tell you anymore that you should be waiting your turn; nobody can tell you anymore that this is how it’s always been done. More than ever, this is your moment, your generation’s world to shape. Too many times this year, we heard the message to “stay home” or to “lockdown.” As you prepare to go out into the world beyond Portola Road, our message is to stay close to home. Perhaps not physically, but in every other way. Remember the values of spirituality, community, individuality, hospitality, and integrity that have shaped you, stay close to the people that have formed you, and stay close to each other because this foundation will serve you as you share your gifts with our world. Wherever your life’s journey takes you, please know that you are always welcome at the Priory and never forget that you were the class that was PRIORY STRONG!

yearbook page!!!
Remy and I, day of the last deadline and our last meeting of the year Monday, April 26, 2021 Somehow we did it! The last deadline is always the hardest, with a lot of pages (over 100 this time), and in the middle of end of the year craziness. We said we wouldn’t procrastinate, and we probably made that goal halfway: we didn’t pull any all nighters, but we did spend the entire weekend cranking away at spreads (and Monday night, writing this at 10:59pm). We are immensely proud of this yearbook (although we don’t know exactly how it will turn out until we get the printed copies! Hopefully it looks as good as we have imagined and hoped). We collaborated on the majority of this yearbook virtually, with only three in-person meetings at the end of the year. We were creative with our spread ideas, wanting to memorialize a crazy and historic year, to say the least. We are proud to report that there are ZERO zoom screenshots in their entire yearbook. We worked hard, and it (hopefully) paid off. We are so excited to reveal this yearbook to the Priory community for an in-person dedication in a few weeks. To the yearbook staff, thank you for being willing to work late hours (often when we text them begging for help) and for being flexible with our last minute emails and the unreliable design software.
To Mrs. Sargent, the biggest thank you possible in the world, for saving us with captions and titles every deadline (the day of) and for always doing it happily with a huge smile. We cannot express to you how grateful we are for your dedication to this yearbook. This yearbook would not have happened without you. You refuse to put your name down for credit, put your creative spirit is all over every single page. You take 99% of the photos in this yearbook, no joke. There are no words to express our gratitude. And if somehow a reader stumbles onto this random and disorganized page in the back of the yearbook, we hope you enjoy the yearbook! We hope this yearbook did this year some justice.
Yearbook Staff: Carter Baginskis, Claire Becker, John Max Byrne, Neve Cetinok, Ellie Chang, Nate Chen, Sophie Curran, Miles Dobrenski, Jessica Fathers, Clara Feng, Solene Graham, Kayla Matsuoka, Nina Pasquesi, Vika Segal, Clarissa Shieh, Ellie Turk, Sevastian Venegas
