THE HEART BEHIND THE STORY 32 YEARS AGO, JACQUELINE NUNEZ LEFT MEDELLIN, Colombia with $200 and her heart set on seizing the American Dream. Jackie was a dreamer through and through—characterized by her passion for independence, positive outlook, and gifted with the capacity to transform the ordinary to the extraordinary. Doubters and those who misjudged her did so at their own peril. Jackie and her husband, Dr. Rafael Nunez, understood that sacrifices would be necessary. Leaving behind her birthplace and the comforts of home was no small undertaking. However, their combined optimism and endurance against any adversity carried them through, as she worked long shifts and he studied for hours on end to pass his Medical Board exam. In the valleys between the peaks, Jackie would privately entertain her own second thoughts, but the realities of Colombia during the 1990s went a long way in assuring her of their decision. She was immensely proud of her heritage, but her heart broke for the turmoil rollicking her home country and its citizens. Her beloved homeland faced an uncertain future; which inspired Jackie to redouble her commitment to bettering hers in the U.S.

This innate drive moved Jackie to take a leap of faith: in 2000, she and her husband invested all of their savings into their first Palm Beach County medical practice, Soma Medical Center, P.A. Initially, they were short on cash, but long in faith. Taking full advantage of the freedom offered by her adopted home country, Jackie and her husband’s primary care, internal medicine, and pediatric practice would soon grow beyond their dreams.

As CEO of the 32 Soma Medical Center, P.A. practices located from Orlando to Oakland Park FL., Jackie is still pursuing her passion everyday. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she helped arrange food distribution to needy families and the elderly. She actively supports the Compassion Foundation, which aids Colombian farmers to secure new homes. To date, Jackie and Soma Medical Center have donated 28 houses to families back home. Already an interesting journey, Jackie insists her story is far from complete. There is always more to do; more of her fellow men and women to help. AN INSTANT CLASSIC AS HAS OCCURRED ON NUMEROUS past occasions, soothing melodies issued from the fingertips of a classical pianist intermingled with the polite hum of small talk, lightly lubricated by complimentary champagne and white wine. Black-tied staff catered to whims before they were wished. Though the invite-only list of attendees barely crested 70, many were Club Braman veterans experienced with the level of sophistication that has become a hallmark of the dealership’s events. There was but a single clue to why and how this particular night at Braman Rolls-Royce Palm Beach would differ from those before: a barely-hidden electric sense of excitement crackled through the air—unseen but undoubtedly felt. Was it the simultaneously charming and imposing shadows cast by Jose Fanjul’s meticulously restored, matching 1957 and 1958 Silver Wraith Limousines which greeted guests? Or the darkened middle showroom of the Luxury Pre-Owned center—by day home to millions of dollars of exotic and luxury vehicles, but on this evening transformed by intricate light fixtures, raised stage, and a dance floor surrounded by stylish banquet furniture? Even Martin Fritsches, President of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars North America exuded an uncharacteristic anxious energy as he casually bantered with guests. This would be a vehicle reveal unlike any before. 14

The evening’s guest of honor took the form of the Black Badge iteration of the 2022 RollsRoyce Ghost—the latest to be bestowed with the brand’s “alter ego” package. Black Badge editions have quickly become the marque’s most popular models as Rolls-Royce looks to fulfill their customers’ desire to embrace the darker edges of their personalities. More power, more auditory thrill, and more style are the calling cards of the 2022 Black Badge Ghost. Cocktail hour drew to a close, and guests were beckoned to their seats by individual place cards as the night’s true festivities began. The first of five courses catered by Sandy James Fine Foods & Productions, along with wine selections curated by renowned local Master Sommelier Virginia Philip, began to circulate as the 30-piece orchestra from the Palm Beach Symphony, masterfully conducted by Matthew Cooperman, provided a soundtrack of classical ballads. The lights then came down, and a cadre of Rolling With The Finest professional dancers burst forth to regale attendees with expertly choreographed waltz, tango, flamenco, and can can show Finally, the moment had come. The dancers spun. The music climbed to crescendo. Chairs rocked, drums rolled, and the anticipation hit a fever pitch as a golden

curtain was drawn, obscuring the doors to the showroom. A brief breath of silence was quickly filled with fog, laser lights, and gasps of amazement as the curtain dropped and the Black Badge Ghost rumbled onto the floor, clad in a matte Iced Gunmetal paint—both understated and commanding. Fritsches formally introduced the car to the adoring guests before allowing Product and Training Specialist, Amanda Baldwin to review the baroque details of the model. Braman Motorcars General Manager and Managing Partner, Stephen Grossman, welcomed the Club Braman members and extended a personal invitation for private test drives over the coming days, before Jason Kycek, Senior VP of Sales and Marketing for Casa de Campo Resort and Villas presented one fortunate guest with the door prize of the evening—a complimentary 7-day vacation. It’s a rare feat that the affair outshines the honoree—particularly one with a legacy as esteemed as Rolls-Royce. REAL LIFE LAUGHS “This is so much better than doing a Zoom comedy show!” IN AN INSTANT, a dam constructed of nearly 24 months of tension was broken, and the crowd of more than 200 Club Braman members and their guests roared in hysterics. Ever-intuitive host Dougie Almeida always has a finger on the audience’s pulse—and on this evening, the highly-anticipated return of Club Braman’s Comedy Night, he knew exactly where to apply pressure in order to relieve it. To borrow influence from Dougie’s favorite baked good, the rest was a piece of cake. While many of the faces were familiar and the laughs long awaited, the newest iteration of Club Braman Comedy Night was also the debut of a much higher brow venue: The massive Preserve Ballroom of the Wyndham Grand Jupiter at Harbourside Place. The new location provided guests with a more welcoming arrival, parking, and extensive open air Mangrove Deck terrace on which to enjoy their complimentary drinks from the fully-stocked bar, and bottomless bags of popcorn. Guests began arriving early, as eager to explore the new location as they were to be seated for the evening’s entertainment. The buzz from attendees reached a fever pitch just as the ballroom’s doors swung open, and hostesses began to lead members to their tables in quartets. Seating nearest to the stage filled up quickly, with everyone crowding together to be as close as possible to the action. The intermingling of couples made for fast friends and an even more communal atmosphere.

Finally, the lights turned down, and Dougie took to the stage to warm up the congregation. His trademark style expertly rode the razor-thin line between entertainer and provocateur, and set the stove to simmer before handing the microphone off to the night’s Featured Comedian, Chad Ridgeley. South Florida’s traffic, weather, politics, and local residents were all hilarious fodder for the TV veteran—and the delight still hung in the air as intermission came. This was a chance for guests to revisit the bar, get to know their fellow Club Braman members a bit better, and settle in for headliner, Frank Del Pizzo. Few quiet moments were to be found throughout a set which lasted the better part of an hour, as Del Pizzo performed his act and bantered with several guests strewn throughout the front row. Every story was seemingly punctuated with natural interaction, and a continuous flow that built to a crescendo just as the night came to a close, with a raucous ovation for each performer, and a palpable buzz which followed the departing guests out past the lobby and into the cool November night. As Dougie had so aptly alluded to earlier in the evening, while technology has done wonders to connect us, nothing can quite beat the in-person camaraderie that Club Braman members can regularly enjoy.

IT’S THE CLIMB TOO OFTEN, THERE EXISTS A WIDE GULF between awareness and understanding. Here on our aqua and jade-colored planet for example, we are aware of the broader universe—but we understand only a fraction of its vastness, mechanics, and why a seemingly-random concoction of elements and luck resulted in our existence. The distance between our current perception of the cosmos and eventual comprehension may never be reconciled, at least not in any of our lifetimes. Fortunately, there are aspects of our world of which we can transform our

casual consciousness into genuine understanding. For Mary Jo Walsh, her staff at the Mountaineer’s School of Autism, and the students and families they serve, the heartbreaking difference between awareness and understanding is all too familiar. However, Mary Jo and her team have yet to meet a challenge they won’t enthusiastically take the fight to. A Registered Nurse in a former life, Mary Jo has never been a stranger to assisting her fellow man. Sadly, she witnessed firsthand the lack of support, education, and empathy

available to her son once he was diagnosed on the spectrum. Fed up with the dismal lack of resources for her child and family, she cashed out her 401k in 2014, and founded the Mountaineer’s School of Autism with the specific goal of cultivating a positive environment for families like hers facing the unique trials of autism. The daily climb that those on the spectrum and their families face is directly referenced in the school’s name. However, it is also an allusion to Mary Jo’s philosophy of keeping a focus on the summit—no matter how high it may seem—and forging ahead one step at a time.

As an all-encompassing undertaking, the term “school” is in reality a bit of a misnomer. It is more of a one-stop resource center not only for its students, but their families. The academy is open year-round, with staff remaining on-site until 5:30 p.m.—allowing working parents adequate time to arrive. Students range in age from five to 22, and younger children who cannot receive the attention they need from traditional preschools are welcome to the in-house therapy center. Furthermore, Mary Jo offers free education and training for family members looking to foster their child’s continued growth and development, and even gainful employment opportunities at the school whenever possible. Comprehensive hardly comes close to accurately describing the supportive ecosystem that Mary Jo has established for

local families. What makes her most proud however, is having never turned a potential student away for lack of financial resources. The mission is all that matters to Mary Jo and her equally enthusiastic and empathetic staff. That’s not to say it’s all work and no play, though. Mary Jo is also committed to enjoying her downtime—especially when it comes to spending that time in her convertible 4 Series she has dubbed “Maxine.” While the BMW’s beautiful lines and bright gold paint initially drew her in, the shared commitment to customers and the community she discovered at Braman Motorcars ultimately made her a devotee— no small feat for a midwestern girl who grew up a fan of cars and trucks boasting a blue oval rather than a blue and white sphere.

Shortly after her roofless purchase, Mary Jo returned to co-sign on one of her sons’ BMW X3; and several of her staff shortly followed. Overnight, they’d become a Club Braman family. Further uniting them was each vehicle’s final touch—a set of boxing gloves hanging from the rearview mirror; representative of the fight they all ferociously wage every day for their children, students, and the entire extended Mountaineer family. It’s a mindset familiar to many Club Braman members. Fortunately, those anxious to lace up their own gloves have a chance to do so: the building currently housing the school will be offered for sale in the summer of 2022. Mary Jo’s intention is to secure ownership, and further expand her efforts—doubling down on services for siblings of those on the spectrum, who currently lack support structures of their own. For them, a trip to the beach or restaurant free of perverse stares and hushed comments is a depressingly extraordinary and sorely necessary wish.

The Mountaineers are looking to raise $1,000,000 before June. Club Braman members inspired by Mary Jo and her team’s work can donate now to this goal at www. MSAinc.org. The timing could not be any more appropriate, as April is World Autism Month. From the exterior, the academy is as recognizable as any other private school. It’s easy to acknowledge while passing by; however, far too few understand the mountains being ascended just beyond the doors. While the former is necessary, the latter is crucial for progress. Closing that gap is far more doable than cracking even a fraction of the universe’s mysteries, but it will require a fight. It’s one that Braman Motorcars is immensely proud to support.

AS HUMANS, WE ARE CONSTANTLY PREOCCUPIED with the life we lead. The contents of our legacy; the mark we leave behind— some of us obsess over it. But what of the lives we in turn lead? Franklin Simon has led many lives: both literally on the battlefield of humanity’s most trying conflicts, and figuratively through his various business and personal endeavors. His is a story—nearly 98 years long and counting—characterized by a nigh insatiable drive to better himself. It is one that has taken him around the world, and resulted in a lifetime of leadership. Franklin’s young life was defined by his strong work ethic; derived from his family’s reliance on welfare support after his father passed when Franklin was only five. He held all manner of jobs as an adolescent in the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston; selling newspapers, shining shoes, washing dishes, and ushering at the local movie theater. He was also a gifted trombonist, and upon high school graduation, accepted a scholarship to attend the University of California in the fall of 1941. A few months on however, the Pearl Harbor attack would change his life forever. Franklin requested enlistment—no longer wishing to pursue music, but to stand tall on the front lines of World War II.

As it would turn out, that was just where he found himself. Under none other than General George S. Patton, Franklin was dispatched to Normandy, France. His combat assignments took him throughout Central Europe—being wounded twice in Luxembourg, helping to liberate the Mauthausen Concentration Camp in Austria, and suffering wounds once more in the liberation of Czechoslovakia—before completing his duties and receiving an honorable discharge in 1946.

For his courageous service, Franklin was awarded three Purple Hearts, two Bronze Star Medals, one Silver Star Medal, five battle stars, and Victory and Occupation medals from the U.S. military. He was also recognized with the French Legion de Honor Medal, and the WWII Liberation medal from the Czech Republic— which he revisited in 2017 as honorary Grand Marshal for the Liberation Anniversary Celebration in Pilsen, CZ—and was most recently awarded the Order of Merit of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg for assisting in the country’s liberation from Nazi Germany.

Upon his return stateside, the still young Franklin decided to pursue a passion that had took hold of him during one of his prior jobs as a craftsman. Taking advantage of the G.I. Bill’s allocation for higher education, he achieved a degree in Engineering—before being accepted to Harvard’s prestigious Business School—and ultimately graduating with his MBA in 1952. For several years, he held a managerial position at a Bostonarea manufacturing plant, but his innate drive to lead continued unabated. Leaning into his educational background, Franklin founded the Simon Companies in 1966; an enterprise that would become one of New England’s largest landlords, developing more than 7,000 units and a number of commercial office buildings throughout Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine. With a concentration on providing and managing housing for middle and lower-income families, Franklin was bestowed an honorary doctorate by the University of Rhode Island for his contributions to professionalism and the community. Franklin remained an active part of his namesake business until his official retirement in 2019.

He readily admits to the subdued but everpresent fire in his belly roaring back whenever he comes across potential development opportunities; many of which Franklin notices around his current Palm Beach home and the surrounding areas. Five decades ago, his wife and daughter became infatuated with South Florida, and convinced him to extend a vacation they’d taken at The Breakers. The family would go on to return every year before eventually making a permanent move—taking up tennis, equestrian pursuits, and golf along the way. During the initial few years, Franklin would ship his silver-arrowed luxury vehicle of choice up and down the East Coast. In need of service at one point however, he found himself at Braman Motorcars. While he always admired the Bentley and Rolls-Royces that he shared the roads of Palm Beach with, they always seemed a tad pretentious for his blue-collar heart. Enter sales wunderkind David Banner. Franklin allowed himself to be talked into a test drive, and soon brought home a 2014 Bentley Continental GT Convertible. Enamored with the big Brit, he extended his lease for six years. When the time finally arrived to upgrade, the new and improved 2020 Continental GT was the natural choice. He drives the Bentley regularly, lowering the elegant top as often as possible to better enjoy the fresh sunshine and sea breeze of his second home. Over the course of nearly a century, Franklin continues to cement his legacy—enriching the lives of those fortunate to learn of his. Even after all this time, it appears he is still leading.

IT WAS SOMEWHERE AROUND MILE THIRTEEN that David McClymont encountered the frayed ends of his rope. He was already over a dozen hours into the 2010 Lake Placid Ironman; his years as a competitive surfer and avid athlete had carried him through the swimming and cycling portions, but the devilish route of the ending marathon cruelly took him within sight of his hotel. A health checkpoint, bestowed with reassuring signage, beckoned him to give in early. 42

Then, rising above the deafening voices of his own selfdoubt, an unfamiliar cadence emerged–the rhythmic drumming of approaching feet. He stole a glance back to catch the quickly disappearing silhouette of a fellow competitor who had reached the same fork, and turned left–toward the remaining half of the course. The man was a double-amputee, undoubtedly facing a far more challenging finish–yet he persevered. Gritting his teeth, David followed. Four years later and a lifetime removed, Palm Beach Symphony was quickly approaching a turning point of its own. For nearly four decades, the institution had served the community—hosting sophisticated, though modest concerts for its loyal but admittedly aging demographic. While surviving for 40 years is a success by any measure, the Symphony’s database was dwindling and years of six-figure operational losses had brought the once proud organization to the brink. Having grown up locally, David was well aware of the Symphony’s prestigious history—but its dormant potential was what intrigued and frustrated him as incoming CEO. The status quo would simply not do; immediate changes were necessary to recapture the former glory. Fortunately, David had a game plan. One honed by his competitive nature, physical training, and years commanding businesses and nonprofits. Working closely with the County’s School Superintendent, the two determined the musical education needs of students throughout Palm Beach. The Symphony has since donated over 400 school instruments to date, contributing to the instruction of more than 56,000 students. The organization also bestows the annual Instrumental Music Teacher of the Year Award. The stage had been set—but David was only warming up. It was time to engage the local community in a new and unique way. Rather than targeting a traditional audience however, David recruited 15 local executives specifically in their 20s, 30s, and 40s to establish the Young Friends of Palm Beach Symphony. The crux of the association were social events literally outside of the Symphony’s traditional comfort zone—happy hours aboard private yachts, brunches among the divots at the International Polo Club, and the annual Mozart and Mallots at the National Croquet Center. Principle to the intrigue? All event promotion was strictly through word-of-mouth invitation. As with any acclaimed orchestra, while the right instruments on their own are essential, a masterpiece cannot be completed without all pieces working in harmony. For David, the pièce de résistance had to come in the form of world-class entertainment. Thus began the courting process necessary to hire 9-time Emmy and 14-time Grammy nominated music director, Gerard Schwarz.

David, Reece, and Sharlise McClymont Mason McClymont The results have been clear: Palm Beach Symphony has operated in the black for the past six years, and under David’s stewardship now enjoys a multimillion dollar endowment; and the database which served as a catalyst for his three-pillar approach now boasts more than 50,000 addresses. Considering David’s pursuits outside of business, the Symphony’s turnaround could have been considered as predictable as the tide, which he actively followed throughout Southeast Asia, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, France, and at home. In fact, David both entertained and engaged fans across dozens of famed U.S. beaches as a competitive surfer for Billabong. In that moment, he learned how much more important it was to continue forward than stop. 15 hours after it’d begun, the hardest obstacle David ever faced was conquered. Needless to say, the next leg of the Symphony’s journey will be its most triumphant.

Similar to raising children however, there are a myriad of mistakes even the most loving and well-intentioned owners often make when welcoming their four-legged bundles of joy. As it turns out, well behaved pups require the same combination of consistency and caring that babies do—and the earlier they receive it, the better. Despite housing upwards of 15 pooches at a time, Rachel Williams’ home is hardly the raucous and chaotic environment one would expect. Nearly 15 years of operating her DogSmith boarding and training business from her Palm Beach Gardens home has resulted in a calming, organized routine for herself, seven trained staff members, and her charges. Five days a week beginning at 8:00 a.m. sharp, Rachel welcomes dogs of all ages and breeds—many of whom she has trained since puppies. Throughout the day, they’ll go through her regimen of enrichment, socialization, grooming, play time, and training. This consistency, ideally beginning as early as eight weeks old, is imperative to achieving the behavior most owners enjoy and expect.

Club Braman Member Rachel Williams A majority of a dog’s behavior is established between the ages of five weeks and four months, making training and socialization during this stage crucial. Rachel’s is a unique, though proven approach for fostering proper conduct. She’s learned that puppies are naturally well-behaved and aim to please—and her method of positive reinforcement based around choice reinforces those instincts. Rather than correcting bad actions, Rachel and her staff actively teach their dogs what, when, and how to enact the desired behaviors. Put simply, it’s the concept of choice; do the right thing, and be rewarded. Otherwise, bupkis. Those rewards go beyond treats—to things that enrich the puppy’s life, such as play, kind words, and attention.

Eschewing the idea of a boot-camp style school, Rachel views her service as a daily retreat for her clients’ pets. In addition to spending her professional life surrounded by near-boundless furry balls of energy, Rachel relishes the joy that comes from her MINI Cooper convertible. As her business began however, the need for a spacious vehicle was obvious. Attempting to avoid some of the behemoths littering the roads, she conducted a search for the smallest possible SUV. DINOSAURS, COMPLIMENTARY WINE AND BEER, mini golf, and the iconic sounds from one of the most celebrated rock bands in history—what more could any Club Braman member of any age ask for? Under the waning February sunlight, the Cox Science Center and Aquarium at Dreher Park remained open, exclusively for Club Braman members and their families. Entering past two burnished BMWs, visitors were greeted not by the typical bustle surrounding the exhibits, but by a tranquil atmosphere that nonetheless belied what was to come. Those of age followed the signs to the open bar, while the young and young at heart headed straight to the mini golf course and interactive science exhibits framing the Cox Amphitheater.

As the night naturally grew darker however, the bright synthetic lights and ever-present smoke of the amphitheater stage drew the crowd in like moths. Back and forth ran the stagehands, adjusting, tuning, and positioning instruments just so. Draped above the stage, mimicking the iconic font of the world-famous band to which they owe their inspiration, was the ERASMITH banner—marking the presence of South Florida’s own nationally-acclaimed Aerosmith tribute band. The initial buzz among the 150+ attendees slowly built to a fever pitch—how much more smoke could be blown? How many more ‘80s hits would play over the loudspeakers before the live renditions began? A beat past 7:30, the lights went dark. The bar, three-deep only seconds before, was abandoned. The moon was a sliver of silver; the night air clear and crisp. The stars were above and behind the stage. Then, with a rip of several chords—and led by fellow Club Braman member Connie McGinnis— ERASMITH dove headfirst into a heroic 90-minute setlist. The band played to the crowd, who enthusiastically obliged, signing along to an entire catalog of hits spanning the ‘70s, ‘80s, and ‘90s. Club Braman has always worked to foster a family-friendly atmosphere, and on this night, young, old, and young at heart gathered to revel in the universal language of music. MALAYAN TIGER CUBS UPDATE

A PROFOUND MOMENT NEARLY ALL PARENTS share is that of their children leaving home to pursue their own life’s journey. For human parents, it commonly occurs as children pursue higher education or move out after their all-to-brief 18 formative years. The timeline of the animal world is not so different, though accelerated for survival’s sake. Such a moment has come for two of the Malayan Tiger cubs who began their lives not so long ago at The Braman Motorcars Tiger Habitat at the Palm Beach Zoo. Flying from the nest is a necessary step for all, however. The two female cubs will embark on new adventures at other Association of Zoos & Aquariums (AZA) accredited institutions, bringing with them a chance to preserve their species. The smart and curious Mawar has already departed to her new forever home at the Sunset Zoo in Manhattan, KS., while Cahaya will soon follow suit. With luck, they’ll find and choose mates, and when the time is right, help add to the global population. In typical young bachelor fashion, Triton—the sole male cub—will remain home with his mother Api and father Kadar but it’s unlikely anyone will hold that against him. As with parents who find the silver lining in their own empty nests, home renovations are now on the docket with the addition of a third tiger habitat. Next year, the addition will be completed, providing the three remaining tigers full access to interesting and enriching outdoor environments. Unique from the other two sections, this new portion will present a cool forest feel— complete with climbing elements and treetop paths.

While the citizenry at large is ill-equipped to face the situations our first responders confront every day, these brave men and women are similarly inexperienced with the intricacies of business. Fortunately two Palm Beach citizens, who happen to be quite experienced businessmen, have taken the initiative necessary to support the local public safety personnel. The results have been nearly immediate. Co-founders of the Palm Beach Police and Fire Foundation—Chairman/CEO John F. Scarpa and President Tim Moran—originally met as members of the Fraternal Order of Police. 60

While their combined business acumen indeed aided fundraising efforts for the FOP, they identified unrealized potential they could fulfill through a foundation of their own. One of their first fundraisers—modeled after the annual gala typically hosted at the Four Seasons—was instead moved to Mar-a-Lago. The location change attracted a swath of new donors, securing over $400,000 in a single night; approximately 100 times more than previous events.

The money contributed to education efforts and equipment the PD was in need of, but annual budgets sadly couldn’t cover. Their efforts have also resulted in the donation of a de-escalation training machine—the Virtra 300— a new firing range, 140-camera monitoring system installed throughout Palm Beach Island, and even plans to renovate the department’s kitchen. Funds have also been contributed toward a new air and light truck for the Fire Department. When the COVID-19 pandemic arrived in town, the Foundation even helped first responders collect and give away test kits and more than 70,000 masks. clubbraman.com

Growing exponentially since its inception, the Foundation now boasts an engaged board and many enthusiastic donors. What Tim and John are perhaps most proud of however, is the new Retention Program spearheaded by the Foundation. Available to all public safety personnel, the 401k-style program contributes a portion of each employee’s salary—which neither the employee nor the town are allowed to additionally subsidize—into a separate fund managed by a third party. Contributors are fully vested after only six years, and can rest a bit easier with the security of a retirement nest egg. The program is one of the first of its kind in the country, and could only originate from sharp business minds with a desire to serve those who serve us. It could not have come more soon; retaining the best public servants is more important than ever, as new residents move to the little slice of paradise that is Palm Beach on a daily basis. The two gentlemen’s focus on service is a value reflected by Braman Motorcars. Both have been clients for years— with Tim’s family currently enjoying three BMWs from Braman BMW West Palm Beach. The efforts the Braman Motorcars team commits to providing a world-class experience and familial atmosphere have earned Tim and John’s admiration beyond the luxury vehicles they fancy. DOCTOR SANDMAN RECALL YOUR LAST NIGHT’S ROUTINE. Once the lights went out, did your phone unlock? Did you turn on the TV? Did you reach for a sleep aid and a glass of water? Was your slumber restful or restless? Though we all partake in it every day—or rather, night—sleep’s overall affect on our health often goes ignored. Fitting in enough between work, family, and other obligations can be tough; doubly so amid the ever-present draw of South Florida’s 24-hour entertainment. Perhaps catching some Z’s is all the easier in other portions of the country where temperatures plunge far below 75 degrees. Seven years ago, Dr. Fritz JeanNoel was weathering yet another frigid Minnesota winter. His work counseling patients in St. Paul was heartwarming. The climate however, was decidedly not. A change was necessary, and a move to downtown West Palm Beach, bringing him closer to his snowbird parents, was just what the doctor ordered. He set up his practice and assumed the sunshine would allow him to rest easier—but he quickly discovered that poor sleep was a recurring nightmare among his patients.

Then, the COVID-19 pandemic took hold. As professionals across various industries wrestled with the adjustment to remote work, Dr Fritz found himself unwittingly prepared—he’d been splitting his time between his office on Palm Beach and home, offering telemedicine consultations prior to the mandated lockdowns. His availability remained open for his patients in Florida, back in Minnesota, and the 10 other states in which he is licensed. Also aiding the transition was his psychiatric approach to his meetings; one which promoted a conversation as opposed to an interview. Rather than running down a list of predetermined questions, Dr. Fritz simply asks his patients to share their stories. Over the course of self-reporting, most patients unintentionally offer clues to the reasons they find themselves struggling with sleep. Generally, poor sleep is a crime committed by the usual culprits; with diet and stress near the top of the list. However, Dr. Fritz also identifies another category; one he refers to as sleep hygiene. He isn’t suggesting his patients make sure to shower before lying down—in this instance, hygiene refers to their nightly routine. Lights remaining on in or outside the house contribute to a lousy snooze, as well as staring at a phone or TV screen, and even caffeine or other substance consumption after noon. Unfortunately, many don’t understand or vastly underestimate the impacts of each.

The silver lining is that most consultations which begin with the patient certain they are suffering a disorder of some kind, conclude with simple changes to their patterns. Unconvinced? DO THE DONATION! SWAYING HIPS AND PHILANTHROPIC FEET danced to the rhythm of compassion this past November, as select Club Braman members gathered together on the second floor of the six-story Braman Motorcars garage to kick off the dealership group’s annual toy drive for local children in need. In celebration of the holidays, Club Braman hosted a video shoot during which participants were coached through unique choreography by members of the Rolling With The Finest professional dance team. The holiday tunes were pumping, dancers were jumping, and spirits were high. Take after take, the Club Braman performers gave it their very best over four hours of filming. Throughout the video, participants could be seen following their steps and depositing new, unwrapped toys into the trunks of luxury SUVs representing each of the five Braman Motorcars brands. The final cut was edited into various versions—which were shared across social media, YouTube, multiple online venues, and even throughout the showrooms and service center to boost community awareness More than 1,000 toys collected over the course of the campaign were ultimately donated amongst Toys for Tots, Little Smiles, Opportunity Learning Center and to a West Palm Beach church for distribution to local children. A MASTERY OF MASTERWORKS WHILE THE GRAND FOYER OF THE KRAVIS CENTER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS is an elegant welcome under any context, on this night it served as the idyllic first impression for more than 200 Club Braman members keen to take advantage of Braman Motorcars’ new partnership with the Palm Beach Symphony. The bright lights of the lobby served as a respite from the cool January air, while the complimentary cocktails provided their own unique warmth.

Soon, the doors to the gallery opened, and guests began to find their seats as the musicians tuned their chords. The soft buzz of the congregation settled, mesmerized by the orchestra’s seemingly subconscious yet still impeccable coordination even in preperformance. Before long, David arrived onstage to formally greet the audience, and officially kick-off the night’s concert. As master of ceremonies, he welcomed the constituency both live and virtual, as the performance was to be live-streamed to viewers both

nationally and abroad. A personal extension of hospitality was even made for the Club Braman members in attendance. The preamble remained brief however, and the third installment of the Symphony’s Masterworks series was set to begin as multiple Emmy and Grammy-nominated conductor Gerard Schwarz entered to raucous applause. The night’s subject was Romance and Rebirth, featuring internationally-acclaimed pianist Yefim Bronfman.

A praised composer and director, Mr. Schwarz was hired to head the 85-100 piece orchestra, now worthy of a peerless venue, such as West Palm Beach’s own Kravis Center for the Performing Arts. The first piece, Kikimora, took the captivated audience on a journey through an Anatol Liadov tone poem—weaving the story of an evil sprite who passed each night spinning his dour intentions for the world in flaxen thread. The arrangement’s tempo served as an exciting introduction as Bronfman appeared and took his spot at the piano, before initiating Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 3. Intermission arrived as though waking from a dream. Upon return, the audience was regaled once more by Symphony No. 5—a masterwork of embattled composer Dmitri Shostakovich. Beginning in ominous tones before culminating in a mighty and brutish finale inspired by Stalin’s rule, there was no misinterpretation of the genius behind the composition, nor its modern execution.The result was a performance none of them, nor any Club Braman member in attendance, would soon forget. Though an impossible performance to follow, the Symphony’s March 7th concert celebrating the works of Ludwig van Beethoven and Gustav Mahler offered a once-in-a-lifetime experience. In the midst of the opening weeks of the Ukrainian invasion, the orchestra performed the embattled country’s national anthem prior to the night’s program. Not a single note was missed, nor a seat empty upon its conclusion as the extensive ovation continued for some time.

The performance was led by the brilliant young Italian-born pianist Rodolfo Leone, who excelled in his interpretation of Beethoven’s famous Third Piano Concerto–arguably the piece that cemented his reputation and gave rise to the Romantic Era of classical music. After intermission, soprano Emily Finke joined the orchestra as it added Mahler’s Symphony No. 4 to its repertoire. The final performance for the season occurred April 10th, and spotlight famous Jewish composer Erich Wolfgang Korngold. Korngold found a safe haven in Hollywood during WWII and this lush symphonic work vividly interwove music from four of his film scores, and featured the upbeat Symphony No. 8 by Dvořák and William Schuman’s New England Triptych, with guest performance by violin phenome Midori. Sustained greatness is a dual-bladed sword; though irreplicable, it can lead to desensitization. After all, how much higher could the metaphorical bar be set? Fortunately for Club Braman Members and the wider Palm Beach community, the Palm Beach Symphony has given no indication that the top is anywhere in sight.

One which prays at the altar of ennui and excels in providing a calm, rational, and downright normal driving affair. This plain-clothed pariah earnestly executes its purpose; which absolutely terrifies its peers. The 2022 Porsche Turbo S Cabriolet is devilishly ordinary— and is as a result, the holy grail of sports cars. Eschewing the need to exercise every single one of the 640 horsepower provided by its twin-turbocharged flat sixcylinder, the Turbo S putters along at five or 50 mph with equal content. With top fully intact, whispered conversations resonate throughout its luxurious leather-appointed interior, and potholes are mindlessly absorbed by the compliant, electronically-sophisticated chassis. Most importantly, solar worshippers can practice their sunrise salutations with the touch of a single switch. Though sporting tell-tale rear vents and several subtle aerodynamic enhancements, the Turbo S can still blend into

the congestion of any parking lot. The PDK transmission with a newly-added eight gear never makes itself known unless prompted, and all-wheel drive provides peace of mind in all weather. Of course, deep within the pedestrian personality lies a redeeming heart of gold. A fewer than three second stomp of the pedal rockets the Turbo S past 60 mph from a dead stop. Those fortuitous enough can keep their foot planted for several seconds more and approach 200; those not however can lean on the 16.5-inch carbon-ceramic front brake rotors to shed speed in nearly equal measure—coming to rest in less distance than exotic machinery requiring exponentially more expense. On a backroad or racetrack, few of its contemporaries—or lionized icons of automotive history for that matter—can match its divine DNA, derived from decades of motorsport dominance. Yet the Turbo S remains maddeningly mundane, satisfied in speaking softly as others shout, and idling forward as its rivals sprint. Leave the scripture to the goody-goodies with their bellowing exhausts and spoilers reaching toward the heavens; the 911 Turbo S is a proud sinner—and all the better for it.
