THE WINE SHOP FTL

RIVR LOFTS

An up-and-coming neighborhood needs a place for locals to call home, and Moderno Development is creating just that with RIVR Lofts. The 29-story building will boast 352 units when it opens in Winter 2023. Among the highlights are an urban industrial design “unlike typical rental offerings in the area,” shares managing partner Doron Broman. As part of the company’s dedication to the area, Moderno Development is donating a plot of land that will be home to a community dog park. (rivr lofts.com; modernodev.com)

While north Fort Lauderdale has been gaining traction, TREDD, the Tarpon River Entertainment & Design District, is the next neighborhood heating up. This burgeoning area is at the forefront of development, and its footprint covers SW Fourth Avenue to the railroad tracks on SW Second Avenue and the New River to SW Seventh Street. “South of the New River has not received the same attention as other parts of Fort Lauderdale’s downtown,” says Stephanie Toothaker, president of the Tarpon River Civic Association. “I think the TREDD initiative will fuel a very special kind of live, work, play atmospherics that will appeal to locals and people looking to invest here, move here, and be part of something special.” Here, we highlight what’s on the way and a few gems that have already garnered a loyal following. HAIR CIRCUS

Head to Hair Circus for “the greatest hair on earth.” Opened in 2016 by Alexandra Fazio, this salon has grown into a locals’ favorite, specializing in vivid coloring, blondes, tape-in hair extensions, color corrections, and more. TARPON RIVER BREWING

Born as a partnership between Julian and Lisa Siegel of the Riverside Market and Adam and Jill Fine, owners of Native Brewing and Fresh Beer, this gastropub is a mustvisit for craft beer drinkers. The brewery now sits in what was an 11,000-square-foot horse barn and boasts a diverse tap lineup of golden ales, fruited sours, wild ales, and more. It often hosts area markets as well. WORLD-RENOWNED SPANISH ARTIST LULA GOCE WAS TAPPED TO CREATE TREDD’S FOUNDING MURAL, TAKING INSPIRATION FROM THE VIBRANCY OF SOUTH FLORIDA. THE MURAL WRAPS THE 501 URBAN WAREHOUSE SPACE, WHICH WILL BE TREDD’S EPICENTER IN THE FUTURE.
