FROM THE PUBLISHER

CLOSE TO HOME e began publishing the Naples Charity Register 12 years ago to showcase local nonprofit organizations and their major fundraising events as one of many ways we support the important role they play in our community. We created this annual guide not only to recognize these groups and their efforts, but also to connect them with you, the people in the best position to help them carry out their missions. Without your support of their events, these organizations simply cannot do their crucial work. And your support is more critical than ever today; according to several university-based philanthropy research centers, charitable giving is down nationwide. Fortunately, however, local opportunities to show your generosity abound. In fact, the sheer number of black-tie galas, formal gatherings, golf tournaments, culinary adventures and other fundraising occasions might actually seem overwhelming to even the most generous spirit. That’s where the Naples Charity Register comes in, serving as an indispensible reference to help you channel your benevolent energies over the next 12 months. We contact hundreds of area nonprofit groups each year to gather information about their causes and their events. This year’s edition presents another wide array of organizations for your consideration. As an advocate of many of them, we have seen how the tireless efforts of staff members and volunteers— combined with generous patrons—can result in amazing things. We encourage you to see it for yourself. Accordingly, we stand together with the advertising partners who have helped make this valuable resource possible. Every advertiser appearing in these pages publicly demonstrates a commitment to the community by showing support for the awareness of worthy local causes and the betterment of society as a whole. Regardless of which charities you call your favorites, please remember that each organization in the Naples Charity Register deserves thoughtful deliberation. Your benevolence will help them meet their financial needs, which is an all-too-real matter right now. We hope you will join us in our efforts to make this a better place to live for everyone. You can make a difference.
