GCR SPRING FLING

The much-anticipated Sunday, April 30th Spring Fling was another fun and successful event that will be remembered. When planning events in South Florida, weather is always a concern, that was true for the Fling. Generally, April to Mid-May is a dry period filled with fabulous temperatures, but not so much this year. Early in the week, while watching the forecast, there was a strong cool front approaching. It could make for a wet and low attended event. We made the determination to move the event from an 11 am to 3 pm start. We called and emailed everyone due to the pending bad weather. Thankfully, we were accurate in our timing, and successful with the contact efforts.

The morning had strong winds, heavy rain and frequent lightning. By 3 pm, the weather was cool and clear. Unfortunately, due to the change in time, a few members could not attend. But we also had additional members that could attend. Ultimately, we had a terrific turnout with over 142 members.

We want to thank everyone who attended and brought a dish or beverage. We had so many delicious appetizers, fruits, salads and desserts. Several members helped grill the hot dogs and burgers.

There were over 50 Porsches that were beautifully displayed. Our 2023 Spring Fling People’s Choice Concours winners were: 1st Place Daniel Simonson, 2nd Place Mitch Weinberg and 3rd Place Paul Raben.
